Those were his choices...and not easy ones.  I"m sure he's happy to be home now, definitely not alone! And definitely not alone in support.

Imo, the key is we don’t know “why” he chose to fight alone. Judging by Javi’s words, I can understand the reason better now. He definitely has his family's support but apart from that? who knows~~~ Beijing was definitely a lonely fight against a whole system

I'm so interested in Yuzu's reception in China, I dunno why I didn't expect it at all. Back in Pyeongchang we saw how popular he was, but Beijing was a whole other level I feel like - or maybe I'm a victim of the Mandela effect and don't remember correctly? hahaha I know Korea has their own skaters to focus and promote now, so maybe my comparisons are out of touch.

I think Team China (and the Chinese media in general) played the host part pretty well, they know his value, so although I'm not deluded in thinking everything is "pure friendship" I appreciate the effort they put. Have 0 idea how this affects his standing in Japan and with the JSF tho.

(btw, first time poster, very long time lurker, I think I started following this forum back in 2017 lmao, to have a another place to go apart from gs).

You are right; it didn't even cross my mind to think how it might affect his standing in Japan. He was also mainly spotted publicly in the company of Chinese figure skaters so not sure what the Japanese media will make of that, hopefully nothing. His Japanese fans don't seem to be offended at least.

Also, nice to meet you(:

I'm still way too emotional from the last 2 weeks but today I'll find a lot of peace and gratitude thinking that our Yuzy should by now be back in his cherished home town, with all his family supporting and congratulating him, and where he can rest physically and emotionally, and take all the time he needs figuring out what he wants to do going forward. And above all I hope he realises the almost palpable feeling of love and admiration radiating from everywhere around the globe all the way to Sendai.

Unfortunately, they've had a stick up their asses for this entire reason. They don't want him to get medals and have been sabotaging him at every opportunity. Well, congrats, they've finally succeeded, but if they think they can manufacture even a fraction of Yuzu's legacy and worldwide adoration, they're in for a surprise. Medals can be bought, but everything about Yuzu's popularity is organic. If Yuzu decides to bow out, all we have to do is start a countdown for when JSF uses him for clicks and clout because rent is due and their favorites can't pay the bills.

we're entering JSF's mediocre,irrelevant,bankrupt era

On JSF and that article, it's not surprising. They did the same or similar vibes with Shoma after OG 2018. It's only when Shoma was coach less and hit rock bottom they temporary stopped the hype.

This time it's Yuma.

But Shoma has never had the achievements and relevance that Yuzuru has,and even so,as the Olympics came, JSF was back throwing their whole weight behind him soooo.....

Can you believe the trash Didier said in 2019 that the gap between Yuzu and Chen shouldn't be 40 points and JSF should protest. But JSF is trashier than the actual trash, the Japanese judge was the one who underscored him the most in GPF19. Even Satan Didier is shook by JSF.

Didier may be trash but i'm absolutely convinced that if he had had a skater like Yuzu,he would've fought ISU judges in a parking lot for him....in fact pretty much every other fed than JSF would've gone to extreme lengths for him,Hashimoto and her JSF minions are not seeing heaven....

Yuzu: "I feel a bit lonely"~~~~

i was just thinking last night how it wasn't at all emphasized or,in fact, barely mentioned that Yuzuru did Olys,4A challenge etc ALONE,after 2 whole years of training ALONE. If it was anyone else,essays/commentaries of thousands of words would've been written on this subject. But i'm always of the opinion that it's better alone than in bad company and if this Olys did something, that was to clearly show(to anyone who didn't know/accept it yet) what a viper pit the fs environment really is,and not only isu, feds, some coaches/skaters,but also too many journalists and tv commentators, and what a gargantuan task is for an upright extraordinary person to be successful outside of their backdoor shady dealings, and to keep their integrity and kindness in such a place bc the system is out to get persons like that. Being alone is inevitably the price he has to pay due to all this.

Very well said! I agree fully. I think there is a lot shadier dark drama happening behind the doors and almost the whole FS community has agreed to “end” Yuzu’s story. He is too big for “their” sport and too “uncontrolled”. I have been a sport fan since forever and I have never seen such shamelessly obvious erasure of an athlete (from every direction) ever. I don’t know how some fans can’t see how he is fighting all alone. It is like a very systematic cohesive agreement that he should go (hello Adam, Nathan and Merly recording tribute to Yuzu before the start of the games) and should be replaced by new generation in Japan, aka Yuma (notice how overscored he got in one season and got huge support from both RUS/USA and his dad’s JSF). This is like a very blunt psychological abuse to me.

And this is not a new fight btw, it has been happening since GPF15 where he broke the scoring system. Everything went downhill from that time, in Boston (do I have to open that can of worms now? Because some fans forgot how he was with his coaches yet so alone). But everything got way worse since Saitama and almost everyone in FS community, chose silence over stating facts. Oh Dick Button, I miss you and your bold honesty.

lol I KNEW you were British - as soon as I read "our Yuzy"  my eyes went straight to see where you were from! Aw our Yuzy, that's gonna stick with me now!

OOPS!! Didn't realise it was so unusual haha!

(Also funnily enough, i live in Britain but I'm not British!)

But of course he is our Yuzu... not in a weird possessive way, just an  affectionate one.

On the topic of that person's opinion piece:

Spoiler

Not sure about the rules on mentioning other disciplines/people on the chat, so I will keep this as a spoiler. So Hashimoto just readily admitted that they want to adopt Eteri's strategy for Men's?? Like, on the open? Is not like we are seeing how destructive this whole system is right lmao I figure why, see how we always mention "russian girls", "eteri girls", etc., the athletes who give their bodies to the sport are expendable, the people behind the system get the accolades. How blind they are, Yuzu's legacy won't be mimicked in a couple of generations, and the way things are looking his spiritual successor won't even come from Japan.

Anyway, please let me know if this is not appropriate for this chat!

Is anyone aware of Ice Skating popularity in China? I reckon this might be their organisation's push to start putting up some shows and testing the audiences next couple of years, sure Yuzu could go for the first ones.
