It makes sense to me and it more and less follows the rules. If each element is evaluated correctly AND individually based on the rule book and more importantly PCS evaluated correctly, the scores would be so different. Shockingly different. The current scoring is more based on vibes and emphasizes on “seemingly” clean skates, just like the previous 6.0 system. The emphasize is on “high BV” aka quantity rather than quality. Funnily, none of the medalists deserve their PCS. I say it again, NONE. ISU should just drop PCS because it is so ridiculous now. The URs weren’t called and GOEs don’t follow rule book at all. The common thing about the medalists is that their scores are all unfairly inflated.

Meanwhile Yuzu’s skating is league of its own. His PCS should reflect this and he should be safe EVEN with falls but well… anyway, PCS should be explained properly to audience so they can fully understand why Yuzu can win even with falls.  FS is way more than mere landing of the jumps. But sadly commentators are mouthpieces who don’t do their jobs properly.

 

The conclusion is that Figure Skating doesn’t deserve to be in Olympics stage as sport. The scoring is BS.

 

Edit: I would like to add that PCS cap due to falls were applied on Yuzu's scores by @ fsjudge. Whether they are really a judge or not, they definitely have a very good knowledge of the rule book. I believe more than the judges present in Beijing.

Hi everyone! I’m a freshly new fan of Yuzu! I literally just discovered him—I must be living underneath a rock—I actually was following pre Olympic updates of NC/seeing if ShibSibs are going—then I discovered Yuzuru! And it was over for me then. My productivity, time, heart, won over by him. Ummmm guess who spent a full night not sleeping but researching Yuzu and figure skating terms instead???? That was just the most beautiful program—like seriously there’s such a new level of artistry in Yuzus skating....this is bad but honestly I couldn’t support the winner anymore since all I could see was a nonstop jumping machine that’s either in the middle of a jump or preparing for one so obvious that you forget you’re not watching gymnastics or cheerleading instead lol. Anyways, rant aside, can anyone kindly point me to any merch or anything that Yuzu owns/wears/looked at that I can purchase? 😣😭😭 sorry if this is out of place, if this is not the place to introduce myself or if I’ve said something wrong pls let me know!!

Sure it can happen but at that time Patrick Chan also made mistakes, had he (patrick) skated clean he would have won.

According to the rule book, the current judging should not be based on “skating clean”.

Although I agree that Patrick’s clean skate should had won in Sochi but it’s because Patrick was the skater of skaters. We can’t compare him with Nathan, Yuma or Shoma. Insulting to Patrick.

I'm not comparing Patrick to the skaters you named, I'm just saying that Yuzu won in 2014 despite his falls beacuse Patrick also didn't skate clean and Yuzu also broke the WR in the short. However that situation is different from this time, Yuzuru didn't perform clean (He chose to challenge the 4A despite knowing the risks of not medalling and I commend him for his bravery, he has always been a skater critized for doing this or that yet he follows his instinct) BUT Nathan and Yuma had solid skates in general, shoma wasn't clean in the free but he was solid in the short program therefore all three of them got in the podium.

Nope, I mean the current evaluation system is not the previous 6.0. Skating clean should not be reflected in PCS. Clean Patrick in Sochi should had won because his PCS should be high as well, not just TES. That’s the story. Meanwhile Nathan or Yuma didn’t deserve their PCS whether they skate clean or not.

there isn't an emphasis like in the 6.0 system but skating clean still affect marks, I mean it has to since falls do disrupt the flow of the program. Whether Nathan or Yuma were overscored in PCS the point is they delivered solid performances, that's it. We all know had Yuzu skated clean he would have been in the podium too (not first unfortunately).

Welcome! Oh the joy of discovering Yuzuru! I remember those moments... I'm kind of jealous... you have 10+ years of greatness to catch up to so you will get that feeling of seeing his performances for the first time! And then re-watch them and re-watch them again. And knowing his story! Please learn his story

 

Sorry if I say this but they wanted to prop FS in the US with NC, but someone discovered Yuzu instead. Good job ISU, seriously...  Anyway, welcome again

off-topic but this is the correct objective way of scoring jumps (and that's just jump, not even PCS):

Just for a cheated 3A, around 4 points are unfairly given for free to Nathan. How many jumps are there in a long program? Now, you can get a good understanding how GOE in -5/+5 can affect scoring hugely.

Also for the sake of god, PCS is independent from TES and BV of a program. The sport is called figure skating for a reason.
