Something like that, just one year before Olympics............

I think if he goes 3 seasons with no major issues injury wise he'd be tempted to do a third Olympics...maybe even try for gold but not be totally broken-hearted if he doesn't manage a third, after all, he already got his dream of 2 Olympic golds...

its impossible to say at this point. he insists he has no urge to retire, he says he wants the 4A, he wants to fully heal and take care of his health, he's mentioned 2022 albeit in a 'i dunno *shrug*' kind of way. Whatever he does, however much longer he skates for, however much time he ends up taking off to heal and however long he ends up staying when he returns.....i support him, and will follow him

I just hope he heals well and the next olympic cycle is less unlucky - whether he competes for the whole cycle or not.

re: skaters and people saying kind words about Yuzu like Plushenko (and skaters congratulating him on social media), I think maybe a better idea would be to put them in the #WeLoveYuzu thread as @kaeryth has been diligently doing already ( : It'd be a nice place to compile nice things that 'famous' people have said/done for him (including famous manga artists etc. who have been drawing fanart of him)

I think every athlete is tempted to do as many OG as possible. Good example is Aliona Savchenko. This was her 5th OG and she's in pairs skating, with all those crazy  difficult stuff. Though again it all depends on Health and will. Yuzu has the will, we are praying for his health.

she didn't have a gold medal tho.i think that was her biggest incentive to go that far and sacrifice that much...

I know Yuzu's goal is the 4A, and he says it's his only motivation, but I'd love if he could find new motivation in finding ways to push the new incoming scoring system like he did with the current one. Really, I imagine his 3A could become the first (and only?) jump to ever receive +5 GOE, depending on how they organize the bullet points for the new scale.

I think this is what Brian was probably thinking as well when he brought up the new scoring in relation to Yuzu possibly continuing to compete.

Yuzu will want the highest scores, regardless of what the scoring system is. If they start giving hanamaru instead of points, he'd want the most of that, too, probably. (And he'll want to earn them, not have them gifted, btw.)

Hmm you're right, he did say Yuzu had tried 4F and 4A (actually that's when I realized Brian isn't quite as panicky about 4A as we like to joke, because he seemed to mention it very casually then). There's no point in focusing on 4F now, but if he gets 4A, he might want to have all six quads after all.

Didn't he say Yuzu was practicing 4Lz and 4A, but 4F not so much? At least I remember something like that. Doesn't mean he might not have tried it, but I imagine any 4F attempt from him would end up being a 4Lip. He can't do his tricks for maintaining the inside edge on a quad quite as well as with the 3F.

What is the name of the song playing as BGM during yuzus flower ceremony at pyeongchang? i want to know.

Also figure skating is a hard sport to get 3 straight OGMs. The only and last person to do that did that during the first 20 years of the history of the sport. His name was Gillis Stratform or something. The fact that there is only one 3 straight Olympic Champion speaks how hard that is to achieve. But then again Hanyu is legendary so he might be able to.
