There is an airport in Gangneung apparently, but everyone uses the one in Seoul, so yes, car ride afterwards...

 

 

There is not an airport in Gangneung, but there is one in the Gangwondo area. However I think the only international flights Yangyang has are to China and possibly Japan. So, I think Incheon is the only real option. Aside from maybe Gimpo but I'm not sure Gimpo does direct flights to/from Canada.

 

My experiences in Incheon haved always been good and stress-free. My luggage always arrives quickly, immigration doesn't take forever...it's good. If Yuzu can use the fast track for immigration it shouldnt take long for him to be out the gate after the plane lands.

What if he does a flight to japan and transfers via japan first?
