In Google's Year in Search 2019 video, I watched that video the day it launched so beginning of 2020 (not a lot of comments yet). Fast forward 3 years, in February 2023 I re-watched the Google Year in Search 2019 video because I was bored and I liked that video. Then I checked the comments en 90% of the comments are about Yuzuru. I got curious, why is he so popular out of all the famous people that were shown in that video? Now I'm almost 2 months in and can't imagine my life pre-yuzu hahaha.

Never would I have thought a figure skater from Japan (when I have never taken any interest in the figure skating sport nor did I have any understanding of it) would give me strength and motivation in 2023 hahah. I really hope I get to see him skate in person one day...

Hahaha yeah I have sooo much catching up to do, although I enjoy every minute of it! Not only about Yuzu but just figure skating in general, I even watched a video that explains the different jumps hahahah. I have tried watching other people skating, but to be honest I only enjoy watching Yuzu. I think I really started to get his level of "geniousness" after watching other people skate haha, the vast difference. It's not that other skaters are not good, but they just don't get me invested. It must be nice to have been able to follow his competitive career after 2018 OG as a fan! Though the thing is, its less nerve wrecking for me to watch his programs as I usually already know what happened before watching it hahaha. When I watched GIFT live I was so nervous!!

Hi! Hahaha it's sooo random how I got to know him. I am a SEO consultant (search engine optimisation) so I always follow all Google Search related news. A few weeks back at work I was so braindead and decided to rewatch the Google Year in Search video of 2019, the one about Heroes. That one is my favourite since all the latter ones are quite depressing due to Corona. I checked out the comment section to see if there would be any funny comments and to my surprise 90% of the comments were about some guy named Yuzuru Hanyu who was featured for like 3 seconds in the video. So that's basically how I fell into the rabbit hole. I think the first video I watched was his 2014 sochi olympics. Though I don't really watch figure skating so even though I thought he was really good, I didn't get how good he really was all the technical stuff. And so the YouTube algo kept recommending me video's of him. Surprisingly there was one otonal practice video from Skate Canada and that's when I really became a fan. I was mesmerized by the way he moved with so much emotion. And from then on I basically watched everything there is to watch. After watching a lot of performances I started to search for interviews / documentaries, because I wanted to know more about him. That's how I came across planethanyu. Oh and I was so bummed out that I only got to know him a few months after he "retired", but then I found out that in a week he would be performing gift hahaha. So I bought the live viewing tickets to Gift which was about 2 weeks after I "discovered" him. Top 3 programs, omg i can't choose it became a top 5... (not in any order) - Otonal - Parisian Walkways - Ballade no 1 - Haru yo koi - Seimei Favorite costume I really liked the Origin one, maybe because the look and hair was so different from his usual styling. Although I have to say I also love the Haru yo Koi flowy costume, and Seimei is just so iconic. To be honest I might like his under armour all black long sleeve the most hahaha. He looks so good skating in that! What about you? How did you get to know him? And what are your favorite programs/costumes?

Oh no, that would be really unfortunate if that happened! I understand the caution, though is there any way to change the rule to maybe 50 posts or 100 likes? Or something that isn't such a big barrier haha.

Yes same here... I'm trying to be more active but since I just became a fan and there is still so much for me to get to know about Yuzu there is not much I can add aside from some "I agree" comments haha

Hello, I am a new Yuzuru Fan since about a month or two. I have been watching a lot of video's and documentaries here. Today I got this message when trying to watch a video: Oops! You need to have at least 100 posts to watch this video. What does this mean? Do I need to posts 100 posts in the forum in order to access video's? Thanks for the help!
