  1. I think I might just keep it as a background for now since the content is just general news and I'm drinking my morning coffee, then when Yuzu will come I might get worried about the lagging hahaha! Are you going to stay?
  2. Are you trying Artv? Mine is spazzing out a little too. And EEk. It's showing the weather. I wish I was there in Japan where it doesn't get hotter than 30°...
  3. Is anybody here to watch it? I just woke up!
  4. What if really he's been trying to create his own jump all along? (and using ISU's rulebook as a playground in the meanwhile...)
  5. I'm ready to wake up slightly earlier than I would if there was no streaming available
  6. GIVE ME ALL THE RED
  7. Now, now, you're making me cry like this though. Do you have the link for that post? I'd love to read it! I love drama when I'm not the one involved! Re: Cheating jumps and judged not judging properly. Here's a metaphor: You go on a bus. You see there's no official that checks your ticket, so you don't buy it. The State made a mistake by not controlling your ticket. But you made a mistake by not buying the ticket, because you're not paying taxes. Can you see who is the state official and who is the unlawful citizen in this metaphor?
  8. Why is 'strategy' such a bad word, by the way? Every skater and skater team has a strategy. Either they do, or they have no idea what they're doing. Yuzuru's strategy with 4Lz is keeping everything quiet and analyzing in semi-secret whether and when it will be the case to add it. Nathan's strategy is to gain PCS through clean quad-performance (that's the best name I can come up with of his fs lol). Boyang's strategy is to slowly become as strong he is with jumps as with everything else (good strategy, might I add). Shoma's strategy is to work on his PCS and hope his UR and Edge aren't called. That's just how things are, aren't they? Having a strategy doesn't make you evil. Every skater who has one or more flaws (meaning, every skater in the world except Yuzuru - jk- or am I) has a strategy that puts the focus on their strenghts and takes away attention from the said flaws. (And may I make a little off topic here, to say how I'm surprised, really, that not all-round skaters are even able to come this far at all. In music, there is no musician whatsoever who becomes a soloist when they lack something, either in technique, or interpretation. You have to have everything if you want to stay on top. And I think many skaters could learn from the musical world. Or, you know, from Yuzu). So, point is, I am part of the group who thinks that Shoma adding 4Flutz is part of his team's strategy to try and up his Base Value, and take advantage of the fact that his mistakes haven't all been called out. When every FS expert ever tells you that if you want to fix your edge you have to start back from singles, and you will never get a correct quad in the span of a summer, that's just how things are. If Shoma's team's intention of correcting the Lutz edge was sincere, honest and clean, we wouldn't see Shoma's quad Lutz before 2019. This said, I do believe Shoma wants to become an all-round skater, I do believe he wants to improve, I do believe he's following his ideal of skating. But he should change team, because it might soon become too late.
  9. I think the Shoma effect will wear off way sooner - starting next season, because of Olympics, and also because, like @Xen explained earlier, it is impossible to pre-rotate a good Lutz. Any tech panel knows this, and although they could close an eye on Shoma's Flip, they just won't be able to do the same thing for the Lutz. On the contrary, bringing in a 4Flutz might even play sorely for him on his scoring of the 4Flip or 4Loop. Thank you for the information on the Base Value. Now I know for sure adding this 4Flutz will be a very, very dumb decision, both on Shoma's team part and Shoma himself.
  10. Meoima! Don't run away! Now I'm wondering, scoring wise... what happens if Shoma brings the 4Flutz into his layout? What happens if it gets called/signaled/everything, how much is the penalty, -3GOE? (I would avoid bringing it just for the reputation at stake. Shoma must know that many federations might decide to attack his jumps to promote their own athletes, there's no mercy during Olympic year!)
  11. Yup, pausing before they start and letting everyone who prefers to leave the chat and then come back seems like the best option. I'd be one of those who would stay, since I already watched CoC a few times (and cried only the first time, surprisingly), and I think I've never seen NHK that year so actually I would be interested in watching it. I'd include everything because what's history is history.
  12. Translator for Japanese skaters would actually not be that bad for me... but by the time I get my degree, Yuzu might already be r****d...
  13. I just did mine...
  14. Yep, this... sometimes, you are unlucky and you see them at a time when it's really not wise to try and approach them. Yuzu, especially, is always with his team going around, when he's not on the ice. So the moments when it's safe to try and ask for a photo are really few! Best scenario: become a pro skater, somehow get to a big competition - you don't even have to win, just participate, and you'll be able to go to the closing Gala. Lots of occasions to talk to Yuzu there!
  15. TOO MUCH! It's definitely too much!!
  16. EEK. This reminds me I could have asked Nathan for an autograph outside of the Arena in Helsinki but he was with other people and he was walking pretty fast, so I actually only stared at him and saw him get in line for a taxi... I think my decision in that case could have been the wisest - but you never know. (Like, specifically, he was with a girl - maybe his girlfriend? His sister? I mean, I didn't want to bother them either way).
  17. Omg this was the picture I was referring to hahaha Im such a noob
  18. Omg Brian is so young
  19. EEEEK so much second hand embarassment
  20. Are you telling me there's another fall after the first one? I didn't manage to go that far
  21. Cringing at the fall tho
  22. I think I might see beyond their choice to speculate Nathan+Boyang (NOT Japanese) = the crazy quadsters and Yuzuru+Shoma (Japanese) = All-round skaters and not crazy bc 5 quads instead of 6 - LOL.
  23. Art A+ Fun is easier, though. Javi is fun, too. The hardest thing is the depth of interpretation. I'm not saying Shoma has it; on the contrary, sometimes I think Shoma's interpretation is just a mask that does not allow for transformation, skating-while. But as far as I'm concerned, Boyang has yet to become a man and really skate naked in front of everyone, with his heart in his hand. It's okay if he doesn't do it, though. You can count on one hand the skaters that did that, in history.
  24. Couldn't have said it better! Rushing to grab his hand: stalker At Helsinki there was one italian woman who was some rows beneath me (closer to him) and at the medals ceremony aftr the FS, she kept screaming "Yuzu! Amore mio (my love)! Yuzuru! Voltati (turn this way)!" again and again and I saw her again in a video that was posted of him basically trying to enter an elevator while fans like her were trying to approach (always talking in a very loud voice) him too closely. How NOT to be a fan.
