    Wow, I thought the 4Lz at the end of H&L for stamina training back in TCC was a widely known thing. Oops. We never got actual proof, obviously; the shockwave from seeing footage of that would've been hard to miss. But still... Yuzu will be Yuzu and I wouldn't be surprised at him attempting something like that And about keeping the 4Lz still under wraps for now, even if the others wouldn't change their plans because of it (which is debatable. I'm sure they'd at least consider training a plan B layout that would give them more options, like Nathan did with his ever growing number of quads last season :__D), not commiting publicly gives Yuzuru more freedom. If he were to come out and outright say he was going to add the 4Lz it would be forcing his own hand, since going back on his word afterwards isn't a thing I think he would be okay with doing.

    Oh, if he jumps a 4Lz at open practice it will definitely be the star of the show (I''m so excited to see it when it happens, it will be glorious *__*) but there's no need to show his cards so soon. And as long as he doesn't confirm anything he's got wriggle room to decide up until the last minute, which is good if the success rate isn't yet where they want it before commiting to it in the planned layout. (Not talking about YOLO-ing 4Lz, I still have remanent trauma from last season when we knew he used to put a 4Lz instead of a 3Lz at the end of H&L in practice and there was always a lingering fear of him just going for it when he felt pressed for points... )

    Eh, I've come to terms with the high probability that the eruption will happen while I'm riding and I will flail like crazy and possibly fall off the horse in a very ungraceful manner. Shit happens, life goes on, thanks Yuzu

    I have this feeling that he still won't confirm he's planning on adding the 4Lz? I'm sure he's been working on it all summer, but even if they've decided to go for it since the start of the season I think they won't tell. There's no need to give more info about his plans for his rivals to prepare against and the jump is not 'new' like the 4Lo was last year, since it's been around the field for a while, now.

    Crossing all fingers here for an August 8 announcement. I'm leaving for a few days after and I don't want to think about having the bomb dropped while I'm away... but then I usually have rotten luck for these things, so who knows

    That's why I'd be very surprised indeed if he managed, but thank you for putting it on clearer terms XD I'm still kinda surprised he's working on fixing the lutz edge, to be honest. His flutz doesn't get called that often and, as you say, it takes a lot of time and work to get over that kind of issues, time he doesn't really have now with the Olympics just around the corner. If only he had started sooner... but you'd need consistent edge-calling from the judges to force a skater's hand, lol I agree with all this. As important as upgrading his tech is to keep up with the evolving field, keeping a high average is the greatest skill to have. Especially considering the unique pressure of the Olympics and the higher chances of splatting that these monster layouts entail

    Yuzuru seems to have a very analytical mind, a desire to know why things happen, their effects and how to control them; this applies both to the technical aspect of skating and the complexities of the human mind. Of course he'd be nose-deep in psychology stuff. I wonder if he's tried to psychoanalyze himself, actually. And possibly the people around him, too

    As @Vivienne also said, depends on the quantity and circumstances of the splatting XD I definitely see Yuzuru having a bunch of plan Bs up his sleeve besides the planned layout: having options and the capacity to adapt is good. And as long as that 4Lz is ready, he'll have a lot of those to choose from...

    Also, about Shoma's 4Lz: good to know he's working on his edge, still on the fence about him managing to fix that and stabilize the quad at the same time. We'll see how it goes, but kudos to him if he manages

    Meh, I don't think Mishin's words are more than his opinion. Of course 4Lz and 4F are useful to have in this field as BV boosters, but in the end you still have to land everything. It won't matter how many more quads someone has if they're not clean (cleanish? You know what I mean). Unless Olys end up being the splatfest to end all splatfests, of course... but then the less-splatted one still wins, usually :__D

    I was sad to hear the news about the extent of Jun Hwan's injuries. I knew it wasn't going to be good after seeing his and Brian's face after the FS this weekend Just goes to show that we really don't know how this amount of quad training at such young ages is going to affect skater's bodies in the long run. There's no precedent for this, and so they're putting themselves on the line as guinea pigs...

    Watching these kind of pre-Sochi documentaries now is so weird. I still remember how things were and how the general consensus was that Patrick had it in the bag, but as every skater says here the Olys are a whole different beast and nothing is set in stone. Let's see how PC goes *crossing all the fingers* (I can almost see Brian sweating in his chair when they ask him for a prediction at the end. You can very clearly see the struggle to wriggle out of answering because he's Canadian, but he also had two other horses in the race XD)

    Same here. And considering I'm busy in the mornings, by the time I come to check the Planet there'll be around 50 pages to go through, at least. Well, nobody said being a Yuzu fan would be easy And omg those gymnasts. It's funny how the boobskirt generates such opposite opinions around here but outside they're digging it though missing the boobskirt itself. Shame.

    This, basically. Is not that the planned content of the step sequence changes, just small mistakes that make relevant turns/steps not count and make the skater miss some of the requirements for the level. Still, it must have made Yuzuru very salty to get anything other than level 4 for LGC's step sequence, since it was built to have redundant requirements precisely to prevent that (he'll probably never get over dropping levels for Seimei, et all XD)
