Yay!!! They're beautiful! Yeah, Edeas can't be heat-molded, but supposedly they break in in a session or two. I wouldn't know, the skate tech said Edeas weren't the proper fit for me Idk what they're talking about with the Coronation Aces, though, they're one of the most popular blades at my rink. My coach recommended them for me and I love them. The more advanced skaters use Pattern 99's or Gold Seals, though.

My worst fear is that he'll take inspiration from Brian's old costumes My "favorite" one:

There was an interview with John Wilson Blades, and Stephen said Yuzu is his skating idol, but that they don't really interact much. Which is understandable. There's too much of an age gap between them, I guess.

This made my day Rough translation (not entirely accurate, it's from what I remember, but I'm at work): "Dear me. Here I am. Javier Fernandez. Dressed up as a chicken to announce Huawei's latest phone. I don't even know what's special about it. But it must be really good if they're paying me to do this. Why do I need to do this? After all my success as a two-time world champion and Olympic medallist, all the respect I've earned in the skating world. The truth is, there's a very good reason; helping children with cancer. Everytime you buy a Huawei phone, money is donated for cancer research. Come on, wouldn't you get dressed as, say, a Madagascar rat, for kids with cancer? *CUT* Oh, come on, a platypus this time?!?!" Text: "Not everything is as it seems."

Ugh, yeah, when I was still getting used to new skates a few months ago, I somehow fell on my knees while doing crossovers. So far that's been my worst fall, and my knees hurt for several weeks after. I'll take falling on my butt over that anytime...

Most of the skates I tried on left a rather big gap at the heel, including the Edea ones. My ankles are very thin, but my foot itself is more normal-sized... The skate tech recommend Riedells, which we ordered in split widths. I think once you start buying higher level skates the other brands start to offer more customization options, though. The ones I got were Riedell Bronze Star, which I think can be used for beginning doubles (not that I'll ever get there). Jacksons and Edeas at that level didn't offer the same width options He also did tell me that Edeas simply don't last as long. Wish I'd tried Risport, though, they look nice.

Can you ask coaches and other skaters about good skate techs? My coach told me to get fitted by a particular tech because most of her skaters have had good experiences with him, for example. Ah, that's what I was aiming for, but it turns out Edea isn't really right for my feet... It was a pity because I wanted to avoid the break-in period.

That wasn't my twitter post, I'm not organizing it, but I'm going today. I can go again on Monday

I'm also going to this later today, so anyone who wants me to add a message just PM me.

Oh god, this is heartbreaking. He was so young. How the hell does this happen? This world is horrible. Can we add a black ribbon or something to the forum banner? Edit: oh, cleared my cache. Thanks for the gesture, admins.

That's what I thought, too. Especially now that we got videos of successful attempts in a harness and people trying it in competition. RIP Brian's hair...

Yeah, partial tear in 2 ligaments... I have to wear a brace, and I have a follow-up in two weeks, but he said probably no skating in 4 weeks Hmmm, I've only directly worked with 2, but I've seen a lot of the others during freestyles. I don't know their names, but let me get a friend to take a picture of the board with all their pictures and I'll get back to you. Are you going to be in the city?

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Jason, Boyang, and Evgenia at TCC has made me way too happy for words I'm really happy for Jason. Maybe he'll finally get the 4T and stabilize his 3A. He has so much potential. I hope it works out for all of them! As for worries about the team getting too big, I'm not really worried, myself. Brian knows what he's doing. The TCC team is big, and they've been at it for a long time. I don't think, even for a second, that they would've taken more skaters they can handle. -
Dammit. Sprained my left ankle today (not while skating). I don't know how bad it is, I need to get it checked out tomorrow, but it's quite swollen and I can't walk on it It sucks, though, Chelsea Piers has an annual summer competition next weekend, and I was going to enter It's definitely not happening because I do my spiral and shoot the duck on my left foot. Ugh.

Layback into haircutter into Biellman is possible, but I'm not sure he's that flexible. His Biellman tends to lose a lot of speed, and if he's going to add more difficult positions to the spin, he'll probably need to work on it for a while. Depending on how long it takes, it might not be worth it. I'm not too knowledgeable on spin technique, though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Guess the New Programs! (and win nothing if you do)
guitarist replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Ahhh, Rite of Spring would be awesome! I also like some movements of Petrushka, but I'm not sure how well it'd work with Yuzu's style, or simply figure skating. -

*reads the last 2 pages* ...the wait for Zhenya's announcement isn't doing any favors to our sanity, is it? -

We know for sure that she left Eteri. BOrser is just speculation, though. -

I was so busy yesterday I barely logged in. So, me right now: Guess my morning will be catching up on this thread -
Omg I love the Coronation Aces. Everything feels so easy! Granted, the first 3 hours I felt like I was going to fall and die, but now I love them! My coach brought it up, too, she said my speed improved and it's looking more effortless. So it looks like I was definitely due for a blade upgrade. I'll go get the permanent mount today, so I'll be able to get back to my sad Waltz jumps tomorrow (well, I tried a few, but I was too paranoid to do more). As for the boots, they're not really broken in yet, probably another 1-2 sessions, but outside edges are already improving. And since the heel moving too much isn't a problem anymore, other stuff has improved, like spread eagles (though I need to work on bending my knees less).
-
That's what I've been wondering, I love him! So sad

Got the new skates! Will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow (or rather, how long it takes me to stop falling flat on my face while getting used to the blades) The tech guy is awesome, he was on vacation in Japan during the Sendai parade. He watched on tv, and he found the whole thing amazing and hilarious: "this guy's like the biggest rock star." EDIT: Update! So... I didn't have any trouble with the toe-pick. The 7' rocker, on the other hand... I didn't fall, but I feel like I regressed by 2 months in terms of skill The blade is soooo fast. I tried going for a 2 foot spin, and then as I was pulling my right foot in, it went way too fast. The result: "Nope, nope, nope!" *Holds on to the boards for dear life* And so I'm skating a little bit slower than usual. But my spread eagle is still there, and on a wider circle (the heel problem was making it hard to open my hips on the inside eagle before, not sure why), so I'm happy about that! This is exciting, I'm still getting used to the blades, but I can already tell it'll feel much better to go for deeper edges a few days from now. They're already improving a little, actually! The third spin attempt went better, and when doing the checkout, my back outside edge was much cleaner than before. My feet were in pain, but I'm still pretty happy because we're all masochists
