Team we're fewer but still good!
Moria Polonius replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Regarding the Misha Ge interview: While I'm glad that Misha is staying for the Olympic season, what I found really heartwarming was the information just how much stuff Misha had to decline in order to be able to compete. Or rather the fact how in demand he is as a show skater and a choreographer. Some people have the quads and some people have the "it" and either can carry them far! I don't think when Misha will be leaving competitive sport, he'll have any reason to feel unfulfilled because it's clear how the skating world appreciates him. -
I missed it, thank you so much! That's a very very interesting look on some of the inner workings of the TCC. I think it's a mark of an excellent training centre to think of employing a psychologist just for the purpose of reducing stress in the Olympic year. Not that Yuzu would ever make use of one, he'd have to speak English more... Yuzu's big on self-reflection, though so maybe...? The juxtaposition of Yuzu vs. Javi attitude towards training was interesting. For Yuzu the falls and frustration are part of training, for Javi it's self-torture. (I really hope this won't backfire on Javi because while Javi may not need quad Lutz, he will need the Loop because even clean skate with just Toe and Sal may lock him out of podium even if other top dogs make some mistakes). By the sound of it, Yuzu is driven to a fault. I hope Brian keeps a close eye on him and and cools him down every now and again. Until that quad jumping 12-year is ready to take on the world.

Omg, Yuzu is such an attention-loving princess, he was made for spotlight!

Wellll... He already got his silver start at ACI, so I wouldn't be too freaked out if he won Rostelecom. But seeing that he's probably gonna attempt the 4lz for the first time, I won't be surprised if he doesn't win either. My perfect scenario would be if he landed the lz but some other small mistakes would keep him from being too perfect - but he'd still win , even if it was due to others' mistakes.

Same here. Luckily Japan is ahead enough time-wise that I'll be able to cut hour or two in the morning.

Oh, lol, so I'm not such a bad fan after all! To go back to that discussion, I think a perfect 100 is possible. Unlikely but possible. It would happen if Yuzu went completely clean with his FS while being the last or second to last competitor and others were really good too - at Olympics ot Worlds. Basically, judges would have to be put in the this-is-the-highest-level-competition-ever frame of mind and then if Yuzu topped them all with his quality, they'd throw all those 10s at him, a random 9.75 being rejected. But the perfect storm of circumstances will be unlikely to happen.

I'm catching up on the thread and... I'm such a bad fan, but when did Yuzu top 99 in PCs?

I've been thinking of this too-comfortable-after-good-SP-botches-FS phenomenon - it might happen at the GP but I don't think it'll happen at the Olympics. The stakes are just too high and Yuzu will have in mind his messy FS from Sochi and at the same time he will have in mind how much more competetive his rival are now. There's no way he'll be too relaxed. (He might, howver, end up too tense for the very same reasons... :)

And If Brian ends up having to send off two skaters in a row, there'll be somebody to sit with them in the kiss and cry.

Other Skaters' 2017/18 program announcements
Moria Polonius replied to CupidsBow's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Weirdly, I don't mind, I kinda dig it. Swan Lake is some of the best music ever written, and it'll be cool to compare, because they're such different skaters. Anna in particular is not you typical "swan ballerina" so I'm curious at what she'll put out - and Morozov's got a pretty good track both with choreographing for Anna and with adjusting Swan Lake to non-balletic skaters. -
Some people were annoyed at the icenetwork "bold predictions" article, so let's have some fun, let's do our own list! From unlikely but possible, to theoretically possible, to possible if we switched planets... 1. Yuzu will jump a 4A in competition. 2. Anna Pogorilaya will wear demure dresses for her programs. 3. Iliushechkina/Moscovitch will have 2 clean programs at one of the events. 4. None of the top 6 men will have a fall at the Olys.
