  1. My own 2-cents take on the Weir controversy is that, at the end of the end, he is an adult and he knew perfectly what he was doing. He knew that he would upset a lot of Hanyu fans by bringing his name into it. He knew that he was playing the nationalistic propaganda game by selling the overscoring (though Nathan admittedly did skate very well, maybe his best ever). Weir is not a complete idiot. Regardless of his reasons (NBC paycheck? politik? true patriotic bias? only he knows), I'm sure he understood what would happen. So, while I will never encourage angry storms on social media, I'm also not feeling sorry for him about the backlash. He knew it would happen and chose to say those things anyway. His recent tweet just adds fuel to the fire. Honestly, worse things have been, and will be, said by commentators about Yuzu. I'm a bit disappointed, but I don't think it is worth that much attention (which has to be, at least in part, the intention of these comments) and I'll move on to happier thoughts.
  2. Is it bad that I don't believe Brian when he says he doesn't know whether Yuzu is practicing jumps yet? Surely he knows what is going on at TCC... I'm feeling mind games and secret mode on (it is not a bad thing just to be clear, I'd rather have Yuzu able to train in peace than deal with everybody's expectations)
  3. Performing and fully recovered aren't exactly the same thing when it comes to Yuzu, but I'll trust to believe Brian this time for my sanity
  4. Which one? The "OMG, he is so cool, I can't believe he exists" or the "OMG I can't watch, too much stress"?
  5. Well, the almost back-to-back competitions while still nursing an injury was definitely a terrible idea and I am glad he's dropping one at least. Especially with worlds looming on the horizon. For 4CC I have mixed feelings too... Shallow me who is going is happy to see him skate... But mother-hen me is worried about him skating while not at 100%. I really hope it won't compromise his recovery
  6. Olympic Channel still making us tear up.
  7. "Ganbatte, Javi! Vamos!" is the mood of the day.......... Yuzu killing us all with feelings.
  8. True, but we got some golden moments out of it
  9. No idea what it says, but it is extremely accurate weather-wise for this weekend in Toronto
  10. Being somewhat new to the FS world, it is one thing that keeps surprising me - just how respectful and supportive most skaters are to each others. Like Yuzu asking the crowd to be quiet for Javier after a world record skate. Or just last night, Keegan cheering for Nam... You wouldn't see that in a lot of elite-level sports. (And it looks genuine, not forced.) It is so great to see.
  11. Sorry, I meant "well-known" as far as sport awards go. Which is not very far compared to movies/music awards, clearly. Even in Europe, I would guess that most people would know more the Ballon d'Or than the Laureus... But it is still prestigious, and I'm glad Yuzu is in the list, absolutely deserved Overall, you don't see much winter sport in the Laureus awards, at least this year, with the OWG it seems a bit more balanced?
  12. Indeed, it is quite famous and prestigious. Maybe less to the mainstream audience (?), but I think most athletes would know of it. And seeing the athletes so well-dressed for the ceremony is always a plus (Ah, Roger sorry, can't control the inner fangirl) . Sadly I doubt Yuzu would go in person given the timing. A girl can dream though.
  13. Uh.. I thought Shoma would take it easy after his injury at nationals, but apparently not... If he is adding a competition between 4cc and worlds, does that mean he is fine? I hope he is not pushing himself too much
  14. Well, I didn't get to see the video before it was removed but the idea of Yuzu and Javi training together makes me (even though we knew it was happening, the confirmation is heart-warming) And Yuzu announcing goals for next season!!! what a good day to be a satellite !
  15. Skating Zhenya + Eurovision singer combo... Am I the only one thinking of the original version with Plushy?
  16. This actually gives me a new appreciation of the program and just how insane the choreo really is The twizzles........
  17. Merry Christmas to all satellites ! I hope you eat too much good food, goof around with your friends and family and have a blast of a day! Meanwhile, here is a little fluffy Santa LGC Yuzu
  18. I was selfishly hoping to see him at 4CC since I have tickets but if it means he is taking more time to heal and get ready for WC I can't complain. I guess I'll root for my other Japanese babies, Shoma & Kazuki It's going to be a long 3 months
  19. Take care and rest well, Yuzu Sad news, but glad to see he is not forcing himself to be back too soon. To be expected after Brian's comment that Yuzu knew to trust his medical team now. Patience is the wise decision, health first. We'll see him next year then
  20. Yes, he won Western Japan title. The same weekend Yuzuru won Helsinki I think?
  21. There's hope he might see the birthday poster at the bus stop if he is back in Toronto I trust Yuzu (and Brian) to take the right decision, only they know his real current physical condition. Health first. There are always going to be idiots looking for negative drama (in tabloids especially), but I believe that most people (even at JSF) understand that Yuzu is still Japan's ace and best chance for a gold medal at worlds (not mentioning the effect on ticket sales). Even if he were to lose to Shoma during the season.
  22. Obviously the right decision. Please take care of yourself, Yuzu. No Olympic drama this time, so patience is key.
