    at the root of the sport is a sense of beautiful power - artistic performance blended with strength and athletic prowess, so breaking the two apart into different segments is taking away from the true essence of figure skating. mastering the two should be any skaters ultimate goal. i think this is why i love yuzuru as a stand out above other skaters - he is putting his everything into both sides of the sport. (not to say that i dont appreciate both solely pcs focused and tes focused skaters though, but from a pure figure skating standpoint, yuzuru takes it for me as a true embodiment of what the sport is and what it means)

    me tryna sleep and forget that i ever had to read someone say that there have never been quads executed with intricate connecting steps or transitions into them. are these people even aware of the sport? aware of the highest scoring programs and the skaters at the top of it? or do they just live in a bubble where the only skaters they know are the ones they train?

    the system in place now works - in theory. if judges were harsh on manipulation of the system; excessive backloading for a higher technical score (and still receiving high composition marks), looking at only the height and landing flow of a jump and giving it a +2 or a +3 even though it doesnt satisfy six of the bullet points, tanos and rippons being used flippantly to ramp up the goe at the sake of making the jump smaller and more laboured and therefore satisfying less of the bullet points for goe in actuality, there are plenty of other things that come to mind too, lol. if these things were actually penalised, and pcs was judged properly and not just given by reputation and technical ability of the skater, then there wouldn't have been a call for change in the way that programs are scored.

    in my opinion this is just regression - the sport will stagnate if there is nothing advantageous to work for. pandering to purely pcs strong skaters and dismissing tes strong skaters, when a balance should be encouraged. in the article yuzu's name is mentioned, that his tes accounts for a higher percentage of his score than his pcs does, but can that be helped if there is a ceiling on pcs that he is already incredibly close to and hes giving a perfect technical performance too? this is just creating another disparity but in the opposite direction to how it is now. in a few years time, there will be another plushenko/lysacek situation and they will raise the bv again.

    ah, this is so sad i hope that her recovery goes well, and that she's successful in whatever she decides to do next she's so talented, and she'll always be remembered for her beautiful performances. i was wishing she'd break out and make an astounding comeback this season, but her health and wellbeing is so much more important thank you, yulia!

    yuzuru really is protecting the figure skating environment, hes so caring i seriously went through so many emotions in the last 20 min, disappointment, apprehension, acceptance, and now excitement go and win yuzu!!
