Oh, I don't know about Yuzu being the goofiest. Keiji had a mullet!

Some of the people in my class were messing around with moves after our lesson last week. Someone mentioned an Ina Bauer and said she couldn't do it. So I gave it a try and managed a tiny, back leg not very far back at all, definitely no layback Ina Bauer! One of the coaches saw it and said all of my Hanyu watching is paying off (Also, toe loops are evil. Evil, I tell you. The human body is not meant to move that way.)

I just checked the FaOI website. He's not listed as a skater - the price has gone that high just based on the hopes that he won't be able to stay away from Sendai.
-
Well, Rika didn't waste any time proving a lot of us wrong about there not being a new WR this comp...
-
Wait, I didn't even check in here because I assumed I'd just completely bombed this round. I got silver? Really? Huh. I feel like @Old Cat Lady and I are in really good company here...

I think you could get your SP BV higher by doing 4Lz, 3A // 4A+3Lz for the jumps. You'd get the 4A bonus in the back half. On a slow day at work, I came up with the equally silly and implausible FS layout of 3Lz, 3F, 3A, 4T // 4A+4S+4F, 4A+4Lo, 3A+4Lz, ChSq1, StSq4, FCCoSp4, FCSp4, CCoSp4 which ends up with the same BV (same jumps, same highest BV in the combo, just a different order). I think that's the highest you can push it until the ISU assigns quint jumps point values. It ends up with a max score of 271.22 (assuming all +5 GOEs and 100 PCS and that my math is right). I'm curious to see if anyone can come up with a higher scoring layout. Yuzu, if you're lurking - this is purely a theoretical discussion, I don't want to see any clockwise rotated quads or back-half 4A combos from you next season.

Well, there is a tango in Moulin Rouge. Not really the tango I want to see Yuzu skate, but if it gets him to finally do one... -

Two Moulin Rouges already, plus the rhythm dance next season is musicals, so you KNOW there'll be more to come. -
I love the idea of something personalized from the Planet! There are 5000+ of us now, so if even a small percentage of us contribute we can come up with something pretty impressive. Although I agree with @rockstaryuzu. We'll have to be careful with our comments that we choose. I've made too many comments on here talking about my fondness for LGC hair and the trashbag pants that I'm not sure Yuzu himself would want to read...

Will wonders never cease? Male and close to his age? (WTT 2017, so 22.) Although this website usually thinks I'm a 50-60 year old man (no and no), so, uh, I don't exactly trust it. Also, I don't think I'd ever noticed Ghislain in the team box wearing a Japan headband before.

Interesting - they show up in his early senior career and then disappear before the Olympic season. Time to buckle down, I guess.

I just looked back through the Internet Archive - Plushy's never been listed as an influence on Yuzu's bio. Link It was weird seeing the earliest version of his bio, though. (From the beginning of the 2009-2010 season!) Personal bests: SP 58.18, FS 103.59, total 161.77. One junior national championship under his belt, fifth at his only JGP outing (and no second assignment, even), twelfth at junior Worlds. Amazing to see how far he's come. Edit: also, his hobbies haven't changed in ten years. Still just "music."
-
I know, right? I had myself convinced that I wasn't THAT nervous about Worlds and I wouldn't get THAT attached to the outcome... until I saw the planned content. Now it's real, and turns out I am in fact very nervous and do care who wins. Now if Yuzu will just come out of hiding so I know he actually made it to Worlds...
-
Ooh! But in the comments, someone guesses Yuzu is already on a plane back to Japan, and the original poster says they're right. Edit: To be fair, this is apparently quite the interesting mistranslation. I still stand by my initial reaction.
-
My Trekkie husband says that you could maybe describe Yuzu as "the warrior who has defeated all of his opponents in two battles on the ice, while wearing blades on his feet." According to him, you could probably describe the competition and athleticism (and unfortunately the injuries) of skating just fine, but you'd be quite lost for words describing the artistry or grace. Apparently in Klingon culture you don't want to defeat all of your enemies, because then you have no one left to fight. To which Yuzu would probably say that he always has himself to compete against... which is apparently a very Vulcan thing to say. So the space kitty is from planet Vulcan...?

I'm off the ice for three weeks (doctor's orders!) recovering from illness, which is so frustrating since I just got new skates and blades that I loved the one time I've gotten to use them! Edges were way more secure and jumps (well, waltz jumps and mazurkas, let's not get too fancy) were easier to do. Ironically, the day I get to start skating again is the day of the Men's SP at Worlds.
-
Hello and welcome! I don't know that any of us can help you solve your Yuzu fixation - we've all been pulled in too but at least we all understand what's it's like! I'm going to guess Olympics Ballade, because that's the program that hooked me.
-
Yuzu's hair is getting so long! So much new content today. Maybe he knew the cacti need watering from time to time? Only one month (ish) until Worlds.
-
We've started - try refreshing?
-
Ooh, he'd need a 4F to do that too...
