  1. You also have to consider that he has at least 3 uniform suits already - from the 2 Olympics and his high school - and maybe he just wants to get some wear out of them. He doesn't seem like the type to waste a perfectly good suit jacket just because it doesn't quite fit. Also, not every man has enough sartorial education to understand the difference between "well-tailored" and "it fits ok I guess". We are talking about a guy who spends most of his waking life in Under Armour, after all.
  2. I was thinking the same thing. I even seem to recall reading somewhere that Yuzu said he'd like to be able to bring Brian's/TCC's methods back to Japan. Realistically, both Yuzu and Javi will in the future have big roles to play for figure skating in their respective countries, and Canada already has lots of good/ great potential future coaches. But it does speak volumes about how Brian sees both Yuzu and Javi that he would like them to take up the mantle at TCC.
  3. Thanks guys. I tried again and I think my post finally got sent, although it hasn't appeared yet in the comments section. The cat post was super cute.
  4. I tried but I couldn't get it to work. I think you have to sign up in order to leave a comment.
  5. I have no doubts whatsoever that he could be worth a lot more if he wanted to be. I think it's pretty clear that he'd rather focus on skating, though.
  6. Yes, but quite a few Asians do that (stay out of the sun). It's not unique to him.
  7. I took a second to think about how most rinks around here are used for hockey, and how hockey players are veritable fountains of spit and sweat, and....well...yeah. icky. The most likely reason for Yuzu's good skin is a combination of genetics and a very healthy lifestyle.
  8. "It’s when non-Japanese people speak Japanese to me saying things like: Konnichiwa, Arigatou or Sayonara. Surprisingly, Japan seems to be of interest them. Even if it is very basic Japanese, when anyone speaks to me in Japanese I feel proud that I am Japanese." This quote. Why do Japanese people find it so surprising that the rest of the world take an interest in them? It's an interesting country.
  9. I haven't learned that kanji yet. 'Boku'? Or 'Ore' ? I could see him justifiably using either one, but isn't 'ore' usually considered a touch rude?
  10. You forgot the painting. You know, the one that ages instead of him.
  11. Yuzu always finds a way to win, by being so much better than everyone else that biased judging just doesn't make a difference for him, so please don't worry about that. The only thing there is to stress over, is his injuries...those will give you grey hairs...and we have no control over that anyway, so just pray for him to be healthy and stay injury-free from now on. Also, unless your name is Patrick Chan, being Canadian doesn't help with the judges as much you might think. And PChan's retired, so stress not.
  12. It seems someone at John Wilson might be a fanyu too, just look at this poster.
  13. So my general reaction to this, other than 'Yay! New Yuzu content!' is that it was only a matter of time before some skincare company or other snapped him up, and I'm frankly surprised that it took this long. I'd lay even odds that the next beauty endorsement he gets will be for lip balm....
  14. Yeah I think it'll be the fourth OGM before he manages to find a decent tailor. I feel like fashion houses of the world are missing an opportunity here. Imagine the selling power of being the first to properly fit Mr. Hanyu.
  15. So I went to that page, and I noticed Dan Carter of the All-Blacks has donated an autographed rugby ball for the same auction that Yuzu put his skates in. Nice to see it's not just Japanese celebs who are helping out.
  16. Look like two strands (one of bulky yarn, one of fluffy roving) were held together and knitted in 1x1 rib on really big needles to make a really long scarf. The sweater is anyone's guess though.
  17. I dunno, at this point some of them seem more like 24/7 fanyus who moonlight as skaters. I was watching the Universiade gala and yet another skater I'd never heard of was out there hydroblading away...
  18. Don't forget Javi! And Jason Brown too! And Tessa and Scott...the list goes on...
  19. What did people have to do to get them? Just going by the picture it looks like they were something they had to mail away for.
  20. Oh come now, we all want that, it's just a given.
  21. I want the knitting pattern for that scarf.
  22. Yes! He doesn't seem to follow the same way of doing things as other athletes at all.
  23. I love that quote. If I understand correctly, what that means is that he enjoys noodling around on the ice and gets new ideas that way...sort of like the way a musician will idly play notes until a melody emerges that they can use to write a song.
  24. If you read interviews with his competitors, this is the Yuzu they know on the ice...so I love love love the programs that show this side of him. To me, Origin is the distilled essence of everything he is as a skater and an athlete. I think it's the program that most completely expresses his personality. But I also see this side of him even when he does something like Hope& Legacy or Haru Yo Koi. His sensitivity and art in those programs are just another aspect of the total mastery he has over his skating. I think you can't have one without the other. Whether the program is giving a 'badass' image, or a 'sensitive' image - those are both all him, and to try and separate them would be wrong. I feel that in order to understand Yuzu as an artist (and he IS an artist, make no mistake), it's important to embrace all his sides. After all, no one gets to be two-time OGM without having a little bit of fire, iron, and steel in their veins.
