  1. I've seen pictures posted of the first two as works in progress, but the ginger LGC cat is new. They're wonderful.
  2. There are also people out there who don't like anyone who's 'too nice', just on general principles...sort of a 'too-good-to-be-true' thing. Although I'm inclined to think that the reason Yuzu has antis is exactly as others have said, he defeated their favorite and they're too caught up in idol-worship hysteria to adjust to that reality. I don't see the point of it, really. You've only to watch how so many figure skaters treat each other (i.e. with plenty of respect for all their hard work and talent) to realize hating one because you're a fan of another is a pointless waste of time and energy, and only interferes with the fun of watching all the skaters try their best.
  3. (& @Veveco) You can tell me that, but I'd never heard of it before Yuzu got nominated...by 'well-known', I mean 'something the world-wide general public would have heard of'...methinks it's prominent in Europe, more than the rest of the world, and given the number of Europeans on the panel, maybe I'm right?
  4. That's a list of very big names...makes me wonder why Laureus isn't more well known...
  5. Just my 2 cents here...the 3A's Yuzu was doing in practice at ACI were so big and airy that it was immediately obvious he'd been training 4A.
  6. Yuzu in a tux? We'd all be knocked so dead. I can't really picture Yuzu as a snowboarder. He'd probably be an amazing one, but it doesn't really seem like it'd suit his personality, somehow. But I bet he'd absolutely love the feeling of flying through the air for so long.
  7. He's nominated beside a snowboarder who does slopestyle and big air, who was the first man to land a trick ( backside triple cork 1440) once considered impossible. Yuzu and him would have plenty to talk about. I suspect whether or not Zu attends this ceremony in person depends on the timing. If it impacts his training for Worlds he most likely won't go.
  8. The Laureus is exciting news, and Yuzuru's in with some tough competition there. Especially against McMorris, who basically walked his way back from near death and near paralysis to get on the Olympic podium in only 10 months. I mean, when they stretchered him off the mountain after his accident, no one knew if he'd even walk again, never mind do flips 2 storeys into the air on a snowboard...
  9. I now have a completely new perspective on all his scrunchy smile moments. Thanks. Also, you reminded me of this:
  10. Well, if he does that, he might as well go for broke and do the most epic Michael Jackson song ever written - Billie Jean. Although I think Yuzu could totally slay Smooth Criminal.
  11. A lot of smaller-sized women I know shop girl's sizes for exactly this reason. But the clothes aren't always suitable for an adult woman. Anyway, aside from being incredibly athletic, Yuzu has a mom who sews. So I wouldn't be surprised if she tailors his clothes sometimes. However, doesn't he usually have a hard time finding suit jackets he's not absolutely swimming in? I seem to recall that being a thing...
  12. How about a T-shirt with a slogan across the belly that says "My other waist is a Hanyu" ?
  13. You know how in a lot of his warm up videos, he does side planks? I always visualize a cat walking under him and choosing to sit there, trapping him in the upper position.
  14. OhmiGAWD! No! No no no. Yikes! The "Hanyu shirt" T-shirts are great though.
  15. I just had a completely random thought.... anyone remember the old 'most interesting man in the world' Dos Equis commercials? What if Yuzu had an ad campaign like that? cue voiceover "His world records, break records. His manners are so good, Emily Post asks him for advice. Even his bragging is polite. Who is he? He is -" big dramatic pause "- the most space kitty skater in the World." Camera cuts to Yuzu with Pooh headband, giggling at the camera. Too silly?
  16. Watching this, it looks like his pre-compete routine is to relax and take his mind off things (the ball and the goofing around), then pump himself up while raising his HR (the walking and lip-synching, rapid walking with arm circles), then thoroughly warm up all the muscle groups and skills he'll need (the walking backwards, the rolling around on the little stool thingy). I'd love to see the rest of the routine. Also interesting to watch what's going on with Papadakis and Cizeron in the corner there too. Incidentally, just judging from this video, Yuzu's shoulders are much more flexible and have greater range of motion than many a swimmer's. I wasn't expecting that.
  17. I think these should be #181, and #182, guys. The last post before yours was reason #180 183. For being so extra we're able to generate #183 reasons to love him.
  18. Thanks! And go you! Yay for not falling.
  19. So I went for my first skate of the year yesterday, and decided to spend a bit of it trying out Yuzu moves (mostly just wanted to see if i could get into an Ina Bauer w/o falling on my butt). Reaffirmed: Everything he does on the ice is much, much more difficult than it looks. Also reaffirmed: @rockstaryuzu still can't skate backwards to save her life. ...but maybe one day I'll be able to do his edge exercises, as long as I stick to the right forward inside edge...
  20. We'd all die happy. What more could a fanyu ask of life? On the topic of music, I think Yuzu would be able to do some amazing interpretation of Hendrix...think of how he could punctuate "Kiss the Sky" with quads. Or the step sequence that could fit the guitar solo in "All Along the Watchtower". But there's actually a current song which I think Yuzu could do a great job of:
