  1. I sat down and watched that whole video and I agree 100% with what he's saying.
  2. Please refer to what @Vulnavia said, right after you posted this. I thought he'd said he was withdrawing from both but it seems I'm mistaken.
  3. For me it's both... I'm literally on the other side of the world from Japan and there's no way I could make the cost of any trip there come in under $3000. Also, the Japanese have a unique system for ticket sales that effectively shuts out overseas ticket purchasers, as far as I can tell...
  4. Seriously. In this particular case, there's probably also Shoma fans who've given up on going since he won't be, after all. It's not just fanyus.
  5. The Waist keeps its secrets well...🤣 On your other topic (Fanyu network) I'm open to it, not sure how much use I'll be though.
  6. This is why, if he ever joins a Stars On Ice tour (seems unlikely though), I'll be paying almost any price for a ticket. It's unlikely I'd ever be able to get to one of the Japanese shows he does so I wait in hopes he'll do one in North America some day. Although I'm quite happy to work my way to seeing competitions too.
  7. It's very funny for us watching, but it's pretty clear from Roman's face here that he was really confused and embarrassed while the whole thing was happening. Poor kid! But that's The Waist for you...
  8. Just finished watching the English subbed version of Javi's part in "Another Story", and it got me right in the feels.... I knew it would but I still am all , , and ...
  9. Hey guys, does anyone know where I can watch 4CC? It doesn't look like there's even a thread for it over in Space Battles... /// Nevermind, it seems I'm a few days early. Thought it was this weekend.
  10. Jeffrey's A-spin looks more like a variation of a sit-spin or camel spin because he crosses the arm holding the leg up across his body, so I'm questioning if it really is an A-spin. And Sandhu is just crazy flexible there. It looks like his head was between his knees. I don't know if anyone else does it that way.
  11. I bet! Probably to the point of some nearly losing an eye...
  12. Roman's A spin is definitely the best one I've seen. His leg position is better than most and he rotates very quickly so it takes away from the, er, butt factor and it just looks elegant.
  13. Love how Jun uses all the distraction over Yuzu's fall to his advantage to win the race...LOL. they raise them competitive at TCC...
  14. Note how even in a play competition, our Overlord must be first...
  15. Skate Canada is pretty well sending the full team to 4CC; https://skatecanada.ca/2019/01/eighteen-skaters-headed-to-2019-isu-four-continents-figure-skating-championships/
  16. Also, as regards Yuzu's popularity, my writing group's editor summed it up this way when I showed her his videos: "Oh, he's adorable!"
  17. I think you hit the nail on the head with this paragraph. Yuzuru is the first athlete, and Figure Skating is the first sport, I've followed online, but I've been a part of other online fandoms ( I was a Bronzer during it's heyday, if anyone here is familiar with Buffy The Vampire Slayer fandom, and I follow anime and manga sites that are rife with otaku), and well, Yuzu fandom is like that. It's a special thing people have to seek out on their own if they're interested. I mean, anyone can follow Real Madrid or the Toronto Maple Leafs (although why would you?, in the case of the Leafs) just by popping down to the local pub or flicking on the TV, but if you want to see Yuzuru you have to work for it. Thus people have a sense of pride and, dare I say, responsibility, towards being a fan that leads to them being more active and vocal in their online support of him. That being said, I hope McMorris is also getting his share of support. Not to diminish Yuzu's achievement, but McMorris crashed into a tree at full speed and nearly ended up dead. To go from that to the Olympic podium only ten months later, when the fact he's even walking is some kind of miracle, is just, like, whoa!, dude. I'm awestruck.
  18. First Olympic Channel, now Laureus Sport. Hanyu addiction is spreading.
  19. Well he should...but only in front of fans...so we can appreciate his beautiful moves... His crossrolls kill me dead.
  20. I feel like they set a really good example of the way everybody should be with their rivals in life. Imagine going to workplace where this was the prevailing attitude, for example.
  21. Dammit, Javi! If I weep anymore, I'll have icicles in my eyelashes... it's so cold here today. Hope Yuzu bundles up!
  22. @LadyLou re your comments to me re scores:
  23. The only way it makes sense is if the original tweet and retweet were meant sarcastically. Given how ridiculous some of the scores were (all 10's for performance? One judge giving everything +5 GOE?), a sarcasm post is a strong possibility. I mean, no one could possibly take those scores seriously.
  24. Yeah, realized it after, so I followed the links to make sure. It does seem like a weird thing for her to do though. As far as I know, there's no reason for enmity between them.
