Yup, big oh boy.... So Yuma got a ! on his Flip and nothing on his Lz but Shun got call on both? Interesting
-
I just watched Yuma's FP and.... - His jumps are in general solid but ... - His Lz is flat at best. Did he get called for it? - He took out the swift arm movement right after the first 4S It's my favorite detail in the entire program! - His spins are solid too. - His arm movements feel contained and inwards? I don't know how to explain it tho. - His costume reminds me of Yuzu's Origin ver 1 - Hoh boy the score. If he keeps up at this rate, he will secure that third spot to Beijing. As for Shun: - Same issue with Yuma, IN/PE should be refined. - His spins are OK. - His jumps: Nice 4T and 4S but big yikes at all the falls and SOs. Is he injured? PS: The side lunge

Mai: I agree with you in that she looks fragile and the program is ??? (Lori Nichol's, isn't it? Big sigh). But, baby steps! She is determined to get there, and I wish her the best. (And the costume, in typical Mai's fashion, is so pretty and on-point. I'm so in love with the combo of light pink and green and those little purple butterflies ) Kaori: I read somewhere that she hired a new trainer to fix her axis issues, so I guess her jumps may get wonky at times. As for the program, I like last year's way better. The music cuts were a lot more impactful IMO. I hope it will get better too. PS: The setup for the Axel at the beginning. I do wonder if she is working on the 3A to put it there?
-
But this is his position before jumping all axels tho? His arm reach all the way back, parallel with the left leg while the right leg gets down very low. IMO that’s what makes his Axel look so pleasing and helps to create the right force to push him forward far and high.

I see Noted about looking at which parts of the body facing the camera Gracias!

Shun - He still has some room left in that 4T like woa 0.0 But, did he really get a perfect score (including GOE) for that 4T3T? I know that this is a local comp but like not even Yuzu's 4T3T at 4CC 2020 got it. Shun's combo is nice but it is not at that level yet. - His Lz is flat or slightly outside? - I really don't like that they go for the piano ver. in the second half. IMO the orchestra version would be better. - Some nice choreo right there but in some parts it feels like he runs after the music. Yuma - His jumps are nice - That SP has a lot of similarities to his FP last year IMO. Even if he had chosen Take5, it would probably not have been that much different. - Something about his arm movements bothers me. - Same with Shun, IN/PE can be refined further. In some parts it kind of feels like he just does some half-hearted moves because of the music cues. All in all, this is still early season. They both did well PS: Maybe off-topic but both of them have nicer SS than Nate's

How can you tell? The camera was far/low quality and the angle was not that good. Not doubting you, I'm just asking for your experience. I have my doubts too but I'm not so sure. I notice that in many cases, skaters make sort of a "knee-jerk" as they land URed jumps. I don't know if that's the right way to spot UR tho.
-
Ohh, now that you mentioned it, are they supposed to publish assignments today? (Or maybe yesterday, I am not in the same timezone so I'm not so sure).

Such a thoughtful interview Anyway, in my mother tongue, figure skating also denotes "artistic skating". Yuzu made an excellent point there

Ah shoo, I use a watch every day, and this is totally my style. I can afford this alone, but I'm not sure I can afford the watch + the shipping costs + the amount of time it might take for the watch to get to me. I don't know what I would do if by the time it reaches me, I am already stranded to other countries across the globe
-
So pretty
-
Thank you I just watched the videos and... is he kind of slow on the ice? Was he like that in the previous season(s)? On another note, he said the SP is much faster than the FP but I honestly didn't see much difference. I hope it is an early season thing. His jumps were solid, but other than that... PS: It is such a whiplash watching Nathan and Jason back to back.

Her triple axel looks nice but I really don't like the way she swings her upper body to get the combo
-
I don’t remember the details well but I think it was Yuzu who made the accusation, then came the part with Denis and the fans. It was very, very brief tho. For me they were sort of on iffy terms (but nothing too serious). They were friends, they apologized to each other afterwards and moved on peacefully
-
Denis Ten. There was a fuzz back then, albeit solved in peace and they were still friends before and after that incidence (Was it 2016?) I always believe Yuzu was at his lowest point when it happened, because it was a one time only thing, as far as I know.

Foreigners can enter Japan, depending on their home countries and reasons for entering.

I never know that yellow kiwi has more carbs than the green one But anyway, the taste is definitely milder. As a personal note, whichever type of kiwi you choose, do not go for the kiwai (that tiny thing is even worse than a lemon, I'm telling you )
-
I believe a reason is he rose up the rank while Dai was still competing with a very loyal fan base, some of whom blindly so (but there will be people like that in every fandom, won’t there?). Also, I remember it was said that some of his speech and traits are not very Japanese, among some other reasons. But the antis, in general, are born because it’s human nature, I guess. We all have those we like and don’t like, as you say. They just take their distaste up a notch, to the more extreme side, so sacrifice is looked at with doubt and achievements with bitterness. On this topic, I don’t know if this happens often but I have seen Loyal fans turn other fans away/into antis with their behaviors.

Update: Athletes from countries like the US and Russia can enter China starting this month, but I don't think the 14-day quarantine requirement is lifted...

IATA website (https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php) mentioned that Canada plans to close the border until the end of this month but will open for US tourists from September 22. I heard that the US is doing better so maybe this factors in? Still, I know that these can be changed/extended until who knows when. As for Ghislain, given his age and his wife's health issues, I don't think he would travel anytime soon. For Japan, I know from my friends who managed to return home that quarantine is recommended, not compulsory, so the perk may be that.

2020/2021 Season Program Announcements
Melodie replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I think that's the one. I prefer Take5 tho. -
Or China. I mean, the list of European countries allowed to enter China is expanding. South Korea skaters may end up there too (if they are still in their country). What I don't get is supposedly GPs are held as planned, what if by the time GPF rolls out (supposedly it is still in China), athletes from certain countries are still not allowed to enter China (for example the US and Russia, I think, but correct me if I'm wrong)? And even if they can enter, what if they still have to go thru the 14-day quarantine upon entering and another 14 days upon coming back? Unless the ISU is sure that everything will be OK by then. (Maybe they are certain that vaccine will be distributed throughout the world by then and everyone and their mother can get it)

Maybe not. Then again, I'm not so sure. We will see in competition. If those moves get her into trouble, she will change them. Sort of like how Yuzu and Shae-Lynn took out those backward crossrolls in Seimei due to level requirements (THE crime of COP, I'm telling you )
-
There is a tiny part midway thru where he knelt down and touched his left palm (I think) briefly on the ice. Sort of like that part of Yuzu’s choreosequence in R&J 1.0 (around 1:48 in the video) Anyway, I guess that part was too short so it was fine? That reminds me, Rika did a weird movement where her hand touched the ice very briefly in Breakfast in Bangdad too, like she crouched down to pick up something (around 3:05)
