And The-Boy-Who-Skates is, according to Professor Fanyu Trelawney's prophecy, destined to conquer it!

Yes that's what I think... How is it off-season honestly??? Does it usually come with so many heart attacks???
-
Omg, if he's really repeating two programs... just IF... that would mean he's aiming for nothing but absolute perfection at the Olympics, no matter if he's upping his tech or not. It can also be connected with his comments about rising his average & learning from Zhenia... But honestly, I'm terrified by that idea. Added to it the pressure & expectations entailed by so much repeating, it's like the hardest thing I can imagine to aim for. What amount of courage & determination does it take to make such a decision?

Yup, confirmed, he went to Seimei Shrine, too. According to the blogger, the priestess told her that Yuzu also wrote a new enma there, but it can't be shown to people until about a week later. (source) A WEEK LATER I WONDER WHY??? Like, after the second set of ice shows? Could it be about... Please let me be wrong pretty please...
-
I read several twits that he also went to Seimei Shrine? I didn't see any picture though. Someone help please. The Seimei 2.0 idea is slowly creeping into my mind...

LOL Yuzu can make anything that appears in his life somehow become about skating. Toothbrush, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, you name it.

I looked through the videos quickly and it seems like this one's not here yet? It's called "Icarus," and is about Yuzu's journey in senior years, with POTO at CoC as a turning point. It's got this quiet but epic vibe, like telling a distant legend. (Unimportant fun fact - It's one of the first fanvids I watched, and 3 months later, I discovered that the video maker goes to the same college as I do and lives in the dormitory building across the street from mine. We had a nice chat over lunch )

Oh THIS! It's probably my all time favorite fanmade vid! "The White Battlefield, The King Still Young" To quote Johnny's commentary during 17WC FS, "It's royalty. It's majesty." I was just looking to see if it's already here. Thanks for posting it!

This. LOL LOL LOL Because you're so damn cute, maybe? And I'm reminded of Yuzu in that talkshow where he wears a blue shirt, saying "Nah, I'm not the princely type,""I'm not really that popular," with a sly smile on his face. You could learn a thing or two from each other, you two!

I was on Weibo when the Chopin 3.0 news came out. The idea caused great excitement from the start and was generally embraced by people. The few who expressed apprehension actually started their posts with "I may be the only one thinking this but..." And now, a popular opinion that's been reblogged a lot is like this: "With Chopin, I actually think he's taking great risks with great determination. Compared to beating others with a fresh new program, it's a much more intimidating task to beat his 330 past self."

I voted for No.47 as well! At first I didn't put it in my top five because it doesn't have a strong figure skating theme & the coloring feels a tad bit unnatural. But then my eyes were caught by his smile - I was sucked into his eyes and couldn't escape however hard I tried btw I love your avatar! The little panda-ball in zongzi leaves is awwwwwwww too cute!

Yes, we may need to acknowledge that not all fans totally agree with all of Yuzu's core values and priorities, but those who disagree are still supportive fans. Yuzu, despite his amazing musicality & refinement in artistic expression, chose figure skating and became who he is today because of, according to his words, his natural and strong desire to win, and the thrill of conquering difficult elements. I don't doubt that his vision of an ideal skate contains much more than score-earning stuff, as he's already shown us in his every program, but it could still differ from that of those fans who value the artistic possibilities above all else. I myself became Yuzu's fan more because of his strong spirit of athleticism and his fearless chasing of perfection, but I think I could understand why those fans are disappointed. It's fair and normal, and it seems to have not taken their support for Yuzu away. Well, we became his fans for different reasons, but the one we love is the same person. I think that fact, even with our disagreements here and there, is enough for us!

THIS. My exact thought when I first heard about Chopin 3.0. The baseline to start scoring a clean skate from is the world record. How about that, judges? I think in Oly season this would be worth a bit "sacrifice" even, though I myself don't consider performing Chopin again any sacrifice artistically. I'm super excited to see how he further polishes it.

With respect to the bolded part, from my observation it's not specifically toward minority opinions. When people disagree, 90% of the time they disagree fiercely, with no mincing words. (Scared me a little at first, honestly, the contrast against the usual sunshine and sweetness.) The reason for the opposite reactions may be that most fans there start watching FS only because of Yuzu, thus they 1)don't have any established dislike for warhorses or repeating programs, and 2)look at anything first from a pure Yuzu perspective, presuming he makes the best decision and starting analysis from there. There's this sense of "having faith in him or not" involved. I won't say that's the best way of reasoning and opinion-forming in general but in this case I think it applies, since he and his team have more professional knowledge as well as information about current situation than we do, and should have played all the scenarios we have. Hope Yuzu will prove his insights and perspective right next season with his performances. Like he always does!

Excited!

Yaaaaay!And thanks for the answer!

Hi, thanks a lot for this! Just wanted to ask, what happens to our current banner? It has really grown on me... Could we maybe keep it as an option as well?

Just finished reading like 100 pages here and in the FaOI thread. I'm rather surprised at people's confused & a bit gloomy reaction to Chopin 3.0, because right after my brief phase of pure surprise, I was happy about the program choice. So was 90% fans in my other Yuzu news source, weibo, who pretty much rejoiced in the return of Prince Chopin. Here's what I thought: - We get to see something we thought was perfection further perfected, bc he certainly will do that. It will be dreamy. - A program he's familiar & comfortable with, like PW, helps taking off Olympic pressure (that's gonna be huge), save time for other things, and is expected. - It'll help him achieve continuous cleanliness, which as is shown by Zhenya's & his own experiences with PW, is super important for the score. - As for it being a third season, I don't think judges mind it, esp. not as much as fans do. They are a big part of the reason that warhorses are war horses, after all. - The past records could serve as a baseline for scoring. If he goes clean again and judges withhold, it'll be glaring. - The above being said, I don't think he's playing it safe & easy by choosing Chopin. The program's got world records & perfection stamped all over it. By choosing to do it he's choosing to undergo immense pressure and making "going beyond the ideal" his obligation. In this sense, he's as extra as ever, if not on a new level. Sorry for maybe reiterating some things already said ;P I'm just trying to sort through my thoughts.

Hi, could someone please tell me where to get tickets for COR? Several friends and I are planning to see him but have no idea about COR since it's been so long he attended that event. Thanks in advance!
