  1. I may be skewered for this but I agree with him.
  2. I am a casual fan, but I must say I will feel sort of ....bereft....to see Mr. Hanyu without Javi around. I know Javi is very happy and is doing great things with animal costumes but it just seems like Mr. Hanyu is the last man standing. (Not sure why I feel that way, but it's just a sense.) Ah well, happy autumn everyone!
  3. Maybe he thinks the life of Mr. Hanyu is as jam-packed and event-filled as any comic strip....we should see little speech balloons filled with "ZAP!" "PAH!" "SHUUU!" "DOKI DOKI!" Or maybe he just thinks he's funny.
  4. I am an admittedly casual fan, but even so I’m rather embarrassed to say I just watched Javi’s “Guys and Dolls” FS at Worlds 2016...and boy, what an enjoyable program! You can tell it was a technically intricate piece , but it was the charm that really won me over. I can’t think of any other current male skater who has that sort of pizzazz. Maybe Boyang? (Not including Yuzuru, who has his own particular charisma, although I wouldn’t call it pizzazz.)
  5. Is this the type of thing that is "Rabbit-ed"?
  6. Dare I say that this picture makes him look a bit...buff? (I know it's all due to the fabric and cut of the shirt but for those of you who admire a bigger upper body, have a wonderful view!)
  7. I wonder if his family gave him advice about the dangers of social media. They seem to prefer to be out of the limelight and, as a friend would say, conduct their lives "in quiet good taste."
  8. I think "OMG" is one of those few English phrases/words Japanese people just pick up through popular culture or from other people. Other English phrases that get thrown out : "This is a pen" and "My car." Even people who otherwise have absolutely no interest or fluency in the English language (ie my relatives) can suddenly bust out with one of those terms (and then look quite pleased with themselves). It's super 可愛い .
  9. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the quote, but what is she supposed to say after he tells her he's leaving? Good riddance? Beg him to stay?
  10. Mother Nature is hitting Japan with a big stick the past couple days. 日本の Fanyu たち、気をつけて下さい!
  11. Agree. He is a champion in his own right.
  12. 1. IMHO, and not knowing him personally, he sure seems a lot calmer. It’s a nice thing to see. His family must be happy. 2.. I think he looks good in clothing with a collar or turtleneck, he looks quite elegant. Even in his training gear, the collars are flattering. He really needs to listen to me about this and design a costume with a collar. Lol see...flattering collar.
  13. Highly probable this has been said before, but I’m going to say it again: can you imagine being a choreographer and working with someone like Mr Hanyu? Of course he has input, but on the whole, what a gift to have someone who can actually execute what you dream of. And for him, to have people who can put his dreams into a program. Rare and special, I think. The stars aligned for this.
  14. I hope his new costumes don’t have those shoulder flutters/mini capes/swiffers/lettuce leaves this season. Nor lace. I tell ya: UA.
  15. 1. Mr Hanyu really does have fabulous legs. Fab-u-lous. 2. Missing the kind Spaniard.
  16. Could be the lighting, but he looks really good, as in glowing with health. And (more) mature. I think after his 4A, he’ll be ready to move on . (Please don’t hate me for saying that.)
  17. If this is a "pre meltdown" i'm afraid to see the real meltdown. My computer will probably explode.
  18. And now...the deluge. LOL have fun everyone!
  19. Isn't T. Machida known for taking a fresh approach to his choreography? Maybe Mr. Hanyu will explore a "Machidaesque" angle for his programs. (Don't ask me to define "Machidaesque", I just thought it sounded catchy.) Oh and thanks for the Wanikani mentions, i think i'm going to check it out.
  20. @KatjaThera @Hydroblade I knew "viejo" is like "old man" so I figured it was something about feeling old! Thank you for the citation and the translation. Those guys need a lifetime supply of glucosamine...
  21. Sorry if I missed the boat, but what were Javi's words?
  22. No doubt antis are a concern but probably over zealous fans as well. I agree, he’s done really well protecting his privacy and that of his family and close friends. He might have to stay in Canada a long time...
  23. “Dear me. Here I am.” as he skates on a lonely frozen pond in a bird suit. I wonder if birds think similar: Hello me. I am sitting on a branch.” Too funny.
  24. You know, you see something like this and start to wonder if there are some people in the world who have elven blood. (Sorry, it’s 105f today and I’m a little delirious.)
  25. Asking for Pooh like fans asking to learn the season’s programs - nice but (very) intense.
