  1. My two cents: he will have to find something as challenging and interesting as skating to move on to before r@&$:";$. Quantum physics perhaps? Also, maybe he feels the need to have a worthy successor or two. He's carried the weight of Japanese expectations for a while; I often wonder how he does it.
  2. Freely admitting to not knowing either Mr Fernandez or Mr Hanyu, but let me opine anyways! I think Yuzu grew as a person as well as a skater from sharing ice with Javi; it was another lesson that he doesn't have to do it all alone. Maybe Javi was a peer on ice but a senpai in life. Yuzu may have brought a keener edge to Javi's competitive instincts (not saying he was not crazy competitive to begin with, and he has also experienced a lot). So maybe in that aspect he was learning from Hanyu senpai. It is a testament to all involved that they built each other up instead of tearing each other down. So now with BJin, Mr Hanyu may again take on the role of senpai (he's older and has more accomplishments under his belt) except in the matter of certain jumps- then the student becomes the teacher. I hope it's all as harmonious as possible.
  3. I’ve had a 4 day holiday. This will be my look when I walk into work tomorrow. #AYuzuForAnyOccasion #TalkToMeAndIWillShuuuYourPah
  4. Not-too-revealing action shots. I think they look great.
  5. I’ve heard those types of fluttery-shoulder-thingies described as “ lettuce” so I think of a head of Romaine when viewing these pics. And Dory. Have a good weekend!
  6. There is a wonderful photo of Mr H. wearing his swan outfit and gazing up into a sky cam as he glides across the Olympic rings (he must be doing a hydro blade move in the PC rink). From the tiny and grainy pics I've seen he looks like a prince, but,well...a tiny and grainy prince. Does anyone have a better quality image (and bigger)? Thank you in advance and hope I'm posting in the right place.
  7. Wasn’t it Coach Abe who told him to keep his childhood sensibilities? I think it would be interesting if she choreographed something for him, she who probably knows his young self the best, to see what he has retained/refined/discovered. (If someone already suggested this, ごめんなさい🙏)
  8. This may be way OT, but I was reading the article about Mr Yuzurus first coach and how he could see potential in the youngster and that some people are just born with musicality-it's not like they come to appreciate music as they grow older, but they just "know " and respond to music. I thinks it's different from just enjoying listening to, playing, or dancing to music. I sorta imagine it's like some people see colors when they hear music or likewise. My OT point being, does anyone know anyone like that? It just with music but anything (I realize a lot of people think their kids are geniuses and are really good musicians etc. but I mean truly, truly exceptional. )
  9. @yuzuonice BTW, Mr Hanyu’s smile in your profile pic is why I think his smile is one of his best features. It’s a “charm point” (I think this phrase was used in the past, maybe it still is. ). If that smile was aimed at me, it would be instant infatuation!
  10. True. Maybe he can do a SP in something sleek and LP in his more typical costuming. I’ll have a word with him about this. Lol.
  11. Or How about those plastic strips that “create” a double fold. I’m not going to address his eye shape because he looks fine to me but oh my goodness, was he not blessed in the dazzling smile sweepstakes? Not attractive? Please.
  12. I’m late to the party as usual but I just saw Takahashi’s Cyber Swan and it rocked. I’m not sure Yuzuru-San has that kind of funk in him, but something with a good beat would be awesome. And now I’ll go...
  13. @dorkyiceprince Men sometimes do kyuudo with the left shoulder/chest exposed. Just saying.
  14. Kyuudo is awesome. You focus on form and energy; you move slowly but with intent. I think he'd find it rewarding, and it is a very Japanese art. But of course vastly different than skating. Although discipline is discipline (Note: I actually know what I'm talking about a little bit because I've done it and received a certificate. But ages ago, so I forgot a lot. But I'm still kinda proud of it so please let me brag a little.) Oh, and yes he'd look good in hakama.
  15. @SuzyQ@Erin@Nutmeg Thank you for the help in finding Mr Good Boy (Amazing Boy). I enjoyed watching the entire video. His voice is that deep.? Lol He really did have the benefit of good senpai, they seem like good men. Also, SuzyQ, thanks for providing the translation in Japanese and Romaji... I could get a better sense of the nuance. “いい子? “ *makes face* Mr Hanyu is younger than me so I will always associate him with being an Amazing Boy. (Helps that he is baby faced.) @icecreamyaren’t dogs the best? I’m glad you have good memories! You are all Amazing Satellites!!!
  16. Having worked hard and attained Tissue Box status (yay!), I have a request: I’ve heard that there may be a clip where Coach Orser calls Mr H “amazing “ and then Mr H says he’s an “amazing boy.” I always thought that was cute and now a bit poignant, because he’s no longer a boy. お願いします
  17. @KatjaTheraI hear you: my brother in law has always lived with my mother in law and so she took care of him (laundry, cooking, etc) and so he really did not have to do much at home except work, eat and sleep. [LOL I think it's a variation of the salaryman adage that there are three words a salaryman says to his wife when he comes home late: "Meshi, furo, neru (food, bath, bed)] Anyhow, she has become more frail and now, as a grown man, he has had to learn to do his laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. And believe me, it has not been easy. So I can see why you think it's a good idea to become independent as a choice and not because of an incident. This includes the psychological aspect. It is kind of you to share your perspective and experience.
  18. Yuzuru facing the crowd: “Oh look! They gave me a rice cooker.” Turning towards board: “They think I have time to cook?” *eyeroll*” lol I just really wanted to use this, his face is sweet/salty.
  19. Yeah a thrown wrapped rice cooker would be like a cannonball, probably end up knocking out a Pooh-gathering child. Aren’t there a lot of STEM types here? Maybe they could design some sort of portable parachute device. So it can land gently upon the ice.
  20. Well, Mr Hanyu is also a university student so having his mom around allows him to focus on his two main subjects, skating and education, which is an important family value. These new new rice cookers are amazing. Mine serenades me with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when I turn it on.
  21. Yuzuru Hanyu from China! Love it when he claps and has a laugh with his coach.
  22. Only Javier and Yuzuru know what experiences they went through together. I think that bonds you for life— no one else knows. They will always have an understanding. I am blessed to have friends like that, too.
