Whee1000

This is such a ball of goodness because: 1. Showcases the Mobile Face of Mr Hanyu 2. Javi looks kinda cute under that feathered headdress 3. It’s helping to fund cancer research. Ive had a hard week. It was nice to see such a whimsical thing.

He’s a good fellow, that Javi. I like him.

Mr. Ten's name is crossed out. *sigh But I'm sure he'll be in a lot of thoughts.

He’s got grander plans than the 4A... IMHO, he’s said he’s seen the value of not trying to go it alone...so I’m hoping he and his fellow competitors together excite greater and continued interest in the sport. Brother Javi’s doing his part, Mr. Ten was making strides, Mexico, Philippines... good for them all.

Keiji looks like a man amongst boys and girls...is he considered an uncle? (Is he all of 22-23? Lol)

This is on Instagram so it doesn’t embed, but I found this funny/cute, especially the Shoma one (and sorry if it’s been posted before). https://ig.me/2jJuHtYeJGjDN7p

I’m starting to think Mr. Hanyu is a bit of a fashion historian and likes the 1960-70s. Check out Jimi Hendrix’s satiny shirt...bet he has a wide belt and some flared leg pants on...can you say PARISIAN WALKWAYS? Check out the ruffled glory on the fellow to the right....the pink...HYK? And Jimi’s medallion...MEDALlion. Never underestimate Mr Hanyu.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nG7rjnS753s Stairway to Heaven using traditional Japanese instruments. Very nice. (Hmmm, link only)

The hand... I appreciate it (I’m a hand fan).

So true. So I will extricate myself from the teacup.

Perhaps Mr. Kozuka was opining he thought someone who had been competing regularly up to the Olympics had a good chance of winning (being in good condition), thus he was surprised at the outcome. It's not unreasonable.

Shoma’s hairstyle reminds me a bit of a Dorothy Hamill. Layered bobs are for everyone

Yes, yes, and yes! He doesn’t really have anyone else to attend to so he can be all he can be now.

IMHO, he looks about 50x happier at that school than at the People's award ceremony. Maybe because to kids he is simply a famous and admirable athlete, and they don't think of him in lofty ways such as an idol. paragon of virtue, secret lover, etc. LOL I wonder if he splits his demeanor as a coping mechanism: At home, he is just one part of Family Hanyu; on the ice he is the Ultra Competitor; in public he is the Model of Impeccable Politeness. I think we all do that to a degree. (Yeah, I had some time on my hands to write this, but now real life calls!) Happy July everyone!

It’s nice Mr Hanyu seems to have a levelheaded family to help him through his unusual life adventures.

As far as I know all families have one so he is not unusual. You can look it up through ancestral records or maybe even online. Some are more famous than others but if you are interested you can look them up via Google (kamon). Thought: Oda comes from a very famous samurai family so his should be easy to find.

IMHO, it will be interesting to see Mr Takahashi in the mix. I think he will be another skater who brings a more, shall we say, artistic approach to a program. As if to say, “Look! Figure skating is about THIS, too!” (That being said, yes I understand he has to be technically proficient as well.) He can freshen up Cyber Swan and I’d be happy. Lol

The skating season starts July 1 so Takahashi-san had to come to a decision.

I hear ya...but at least you have here!

Very OT but... Obon, which is an important Japanese custom, is starting in the Japanese -American communities (at least here in California, other places -Brazil, etc- may start later. In Japan it’s usually August). If any satellites are interested in some Japanese culture perhaps you can attend an Obon in your area, if available; all are welcomed. I would bet Yuzu went to some Obon (that’s my tie in to this chat); you can sort of experience a little bit of Japan. Admins, if this is not the proper forum, feel free to move this comment.

Would that be "yonkaiten han"? Even better! (but the best would be if it was done in ....UA)

"There is no reason not to do a yonkaiten." So hey, why not!

Is Oda’s nickname really “Odaddy”? That’s too funny! I also think Yuzupon and Shomajesty are pretty cute.

Here...some beauty and some beast. (I don’t know, he kinda looks like someone dropped the pizza. )

Aw, this is sweet. The Fernandez family seem like such good people. Note: there are two pictures, you should be able to see little arrows when you touch the picture.
