I'm a bit lost in the conversation, So Yuzuru won't need to participate in regionals to go to Nationals next season? Like he has an automatic ticket to it?

    Yes.

Usually there're only 3 seeded skaters (1-3 places at previous Nats), but Yuzu is 4th seeded skater.

Whining is OK. I'm on FSO myself - and I have bloody good fun there laughing at some some people who'll go to any lengths to try and diminish Hanyu's influence. Some of the people are just hilarious.

FSO is getting more and more ridiculous so I almost stopped going there. There're more productive ways to spend free time.

Enough of :offtopic: in the chat I guess

I'm really just laughing myself silly trying to imagine JSF and the Regional competition he would have had to participate in, trying to deal with the stampede of people who would undoubtedly want to come to see Yuzu. I'm not sure there's any way to be ready for that. :eek_new:

Lol I saw tweet with smth "Phew, these news mean I won't have to line from 4am to get into venue at Tokyo regionals".

They don't usually sell tickets in advance for regionals so it would be crazy :embarassedswan:

I hope you'll get used to the forum and enjoy it in the future.

I hope too! Anyway you did a great job with moving all contents (even signatures) and so fast.

And reply mentions are really great!

Thanks to all members of the team.

Well, I guess we'll have to be exciting enough to help you to get over your prejudices now!

Just allow me to whine a bit for now :girlsigh:

  5. I guess I'll get used but... but... :dbana:

    Spoiler

Now this forum has same software with a certain Russian FS forum at which most part of users really dislike Yuzu :crybaby:I almost got a heart seizure when I saw our Planet looking so similar.

  6. That article on icenetwork triggered not only us, but Japanese fans - in other way :rofl2:

    http://ameblo.jp/poissonbleu/entry-12273961314.html

I'm a bit confused. What was the reaction of Japanese fans?

From Lynn's reply it seems that some Japanese fans who don't go to competitions abroad were offended because she mostly mentions fans who travel for competitions but ignores existence of those who only watch FS at TV.

This is why such a nomination wasn't good idea in the first place - so many people can feel left out in one way or another.

  7. “You’ve made it this far, be proud of it. Your path lay in all 360 degrees”.

    image7.jpg?w=300&h=82

    https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/11/21/yuzuru-hanyu-training-gear-messages/

It is worth mentioning that this quote is not Yuzuru's own but two lines from "Stage of the ground" by one of his favorite bands BUMP OF CHICKEN.

    , lyrics + translation

First line in Japanese - ここまで来たんだよって胸張って (kokomade kitan da yo tte mune hatte)

Second - 360度全て道なんだ (sanbyakurokujyuu do subete michi nanda)

  8. Edit: Also, on the last part. You don't necessarily get max GOE. Your jump may still only have the bullets for a lower GOE margin, but you may no longer have judges disagreeing as much about a jump when some used to give -2 and -1 due to applying, I guess, a no step rule. So more positive GOE all around in SP solo jumps, I guess?

It's just so... subjective... what can be considered original/creative or, *snort*, interesting. Who is going to judge this? How!? At least adding 'difficult steps/transitions' as a rule had a more objective understanding (even if it was ignored by some).

Yeah. You're right. Why they have to make the rule more subjective when its come to TES. Tbh judges barely give negative goe for solo jump if that come from top skater. Mostly low rank skaters are punished by this step rule.

Edit : I just read again. Actually, there's still deduction for no step before solo jump :

    No required preceding steps/movements : -3

    Break between required steps/movements and jump // only 1 step/movement preceding jump : -1 to -2

So you still need to do steps before solo jump. But no need to do really difficult steps. Just creative/interesting is enough ????

Till 2016-2017 season there wasn't any requirement for difficult steps for SP.

You can check this in communication for 2015-2016 season.

But adding such definitions as "creative, interesting, original" makes judging more subjective, so I don't quite like it...

  9. Ребят, а я тут задалась вопросом: зачем у Ханю под ушами наклеены эти... пластыри?

    https://pp.userapi.com/c638616/v6386163 ... 9GOLhw.jpg

  10.

" Jump element not according to requirements final GOE must be -3"

Most likely in reference to jumps which are invalided /zayak (as part of the combo)

But it's required to give -3 if you don't have combo already. So I don't get why they have to add another similar rule.

I think they changed wording of the rule...

    2016-2017 SOV communication:

SP: Combo of one jump final GOE must be -3

    2017-2018 SOV communication:

SP: Jump element not according to requirements final GOE must be -3

    Other interesting changes :acceptable:

    Step Sequences requirements:

    4) Two different combinations of 3 difficult turns on different feet executed with a clear rhythm within the sequence. Only the first combination attempted on each foot can be counted.

I guess this means there is no point anymore in having more that two combinations.

    GOE positive aspects:

    2) clear recognizable (creative, interesting, original for jump preceded by steps/movements of the Short Program) steps/free skating movements immediately preceding element

Bolded part used to be "difficult".

    Program Components

As a guideline the score ten (10) should not be awarded for any of the components in a program containing a Fall or Serious error.

No definition of "serious error" given.

Step sequence pattern: It must be visible and identifiable and should be performed by using almost the full ice surface (e.g. straight line, serpentine, circle, oval or similar shape) either in it’s length from short barrier to short barrier or twice in its width from long barrier to long barrier.

IIRR that part of sentence they delete was the reason of Satoko's 0 points for StSq at GP.

  11.

Yet another reason for us non-Japanese fans to grumble...

Everyone with a Japanese flag at Helsinki was Japanese. :hachimaki:

Right, how will I look if I wave a Russian flag after Yuzuru skated?

    ...I don't even have a Russian flag.

  12. There was another interview (i can't find it right now) in which he was asked if he could be an animal, what animal would he be and he answered 'a cat because cats are so free and they do whatever they want'.And after some thought,he added that,in the light of that,he could say that he already is a cat. Although I was a bit surprised (not by him liking cats because I had already known that from the cat and hamster interview, but by what he said after), at least we have a confirmed SpaceKitten ! :space:

I remember that interview! It was taken in Barcelona and aired in Mezamashi 2014/12/26, but I can't find working video link now.

I remember some fans started showing off their cat to him on twitter after the Ghana event. I don’t know if he saw them but I enjoyed the fest as a cat person myself.

Right! I saved that hashtag - so many cute cats!

  13. Hi guys... finally got time to join this new forum. Good to be back. I have a lot to catch up. I am not sure I will be able to as I started work again.

Welcome! Glad you joined us :pbow:

I just had a random thought..... is Yuzu a cat or dog person? I am leaning more towards cat person, I mean he himself is a space kitten

    Cat person.

At Ghana event last year he said he’d love to keep a cat, but he can't. So he watches cat videos ^^

  14. I did hear the bus ride from Seoul to Gangneung was 5 hours, is there another bus station closer that will take 2 hours?

It depends on traffic I think (and bus station too).

It took about 3 hours for me to come by bus from Incheon airport to Gangneung, but a little over two hours from Gangneung to Seoul (Dong Seoul bus terminal).

  15. Приятные новости! 28 мая будет трансляция одного из шоу в Макухари.

BS Asahi channel to broadcast Fantasy on Ice 2017 at Makuhari

    Broadcast date and time: May 28, 2017 (Sun) 21: 00 ~ 22: 54

    http://www.bs-asahi.co.jp/event/lineup/000105/

  16. There is article about practice rink at Worlds aka The Cave.

Nice to see that author knows that Yuzu's fans came there not from Japan only:

It’s 16:20 and I’m back in #TheCave for a display of talent – all men in group one of practice are on the ice, including Japanese superstar Yuzuru Hanyu – the man they all came to see. They: the fans travelling in large number from Japan to Helsinki, for this particular edition of the Worlds. I hear bits of information about Japanese airlines supplementing flights to Finland, to accommodate the huge demand – but I also know people travelling from so many other places to see Yuzuru at work during the biggest competition of the season, and the last major one before the Olympics in PyeongChang.

„I’m accompanying my sister in Helsinki, she’s a big fan of Yuzuru”, a Romanian pianist living in London tells me during Worlds. He’s a talent by himself, a prizewinner in many competitions – but here, in Helsinki, he’s just the big brother chaperoning for his sister. He’ll smilingly draw some conclusions from his first figure skating event ever: „It was very interesting for me to see the strengths of all those successful here – I’ll try to transfer them for my own piano competitions”.
