  1. I think it's because he *needs* to add in all this stuff for the advertisement. (Imagine if he just went: oh this is yummy, I just have it plain thanks, no topping). Poor Yuzu, they only gave him one cup after all. They should have given him 5 cups, so he could show his creative toppings. The whole thing is hilarious, I've never seen this before. I wonder if they usually put in a whole bar of chocolate for hot choc in Japan? I would just put three pieces or so. The whole thing is way too sweet already! His voice is so.... manly at the beginning (thanks to contrast with those three girls). And I love his blank look: "What am I going to do. What am Igoing todo. (Umm... what's the script?) I'm going to make hot choco! ........ (um... now what do I do? Oh thank God there's voice over instruction. ) (stick it in the microwave) (phew! I'm done. Back to skating...)
  2. Oh I'm the opposite of you. My no. 1 criterion for boyfriend: has to be a good cook! Didn't he have a package of noodles in K&C before? If we're throwing rice cooker may as well pack the inside with yummy things (fresh strawberries, tomatoes, noodles, etc). Balanced diet, good until the next competition.
  3. There's a video of Yuzu stealing someone's pose from Michael Buble's Sway The title says it's Deniss, but I can't find his SP. I would LOVE to see anyone doing an SP to Sway.
  4. True, but the state of the art is still fanyus with their microscopes.
  5. @moonkat Thanks! Wonder if this mean that he thinks Marin's problem is a mental one? I must disagree with him though. There are plenty of athletes who just cannot hold their nerves. My favorite table tennis player Fukuhara Ai is an example. She is technically perfect, has the endurance, but always falter when she needs to get that last point. We all thought that it will come with age, but alas it still isn't the case... Hope Marin won't fall into the same cycle. She probably won't get any specific mental coaching from Arutunian by the sound of it.
  6. Hi everyone, Do you guys have a record of your judge work? As part of our data science project, we would *love* to incorporate your points as an "unbiased" score. (This would help us answer questions like, do judges automatically give out high PCS for high TES program? etc) By a record I mean a file that you can share with us. At the moment @halley has scraped a lot of data from all sorts of competitions. We have them in giant spreadsheets, element-by-element for each skater, each program. We could add extra columns for *every single element*, one for each of the bullet points. Then you guys can just mark which bullet points are satisfied, and we can tally up the score with a software. If we have enough people, we can split up: eg: have 3 judges per element. This way we can create the most awesome TE rescore ever -- *plus* all the data will be analyzed afterwards! (ie: won't go to waste!)
  7. Hi guys, Oh it's great - I'm glad that there are so many people interested. @halley and I have started collecting some data and doing some analysis. Halley has been really amazing. We have * a git folder to share code, data and analysis outputs * a private trello board to list tasks If you guys want to be involved, send me a message! We will put some stuff up on a private wordpress soon. The idea is to get feedback from people with FS insights to refine our stats models (eg: should look at the relationship of variable X with Y, or should account for this and that, or get data from so and so). Once we got to the wordpress stage, we will send you guys link! The reason we want to keep it private and take place outside of the Planet is a/ to avoid trolls, and b/ not be a project affiliated with a particular fan group, otherwise people will automatically assume that we are biased. (Sorry, life got hijacked by work and what not. I'll try to get the wordpress thing up and running this weekend).
  8. Eteri: I run a factory, where I take in raw materials and churn out products. Wait... what, my products are no longer mine? Have minds of their own? #$@$#*2@(#$@!!! BO: my students are unique individuals, no two are alike, I have no cookie-cutter. Plus, I want to make sure that they have a life beyond skating. Easy to see why *everybody* should move to BO. Honestly, poor Zhenya suffered for too long. Wonder what's Nathan's coach philosophy is like?
  9. Wow that video of Seimei in UA is AMAZING. UA really highlights his form - strong, agile and delicate. (Yes, very manga-like... I can't believe such proportions exist!) His axis is so thin when he jumps! Now I really wish that Yuzu would do a super slim-fit costume for next season.
  10. True true. His 16-yo answer sounds very reasonable actually. He's so ninja though. It's bound to happen...
  11. Oh cool, I didn't know that he talked about his ideal type at 16. So the answer in Kenji no heya is probably a very sly way to wiggling out of the topic... He's the type that knows exactly what he wants, so I would not be surprised if he has an ideal type in mind. His 16-yo requirements aren't crazy (not like Kanako's haha), so he is probably serious about it. Whoever it is, he'll find that person and be happy. I just hope he will be able to: a/ find love by himself and not through arranged meeting b/ have the freedom to breakup if it doesn't work out. (The scale of fandom and press surrounding him is nuts...) I don't see him dating so soon though. His mind right now is too pre-occupied with FS, earphones, ice shows, and his studies.
  12. Oh wow Sendai! I'm a massive fan of Ai-chan, been following her since the early 2000s. But it didn't occur to me that she is also from Sendai. Next time I'm going to Japan, definitely got to stop by Sendai.
  13. Well, as a former athlete (and thus I used to hang around a lot of them in various disciplines), I can reassure you that it is quite common for athletes to weigh themselves after breakfast. It's not an obsession necessarily - many do it as a habit. Most athletes don't think about weights the same way that supermodels do. Rather, it's just another biometric you should pay attention to. Weights (and body fat) flunctuate on a monthly cycle, so it's important to monitor long term to see if a particular training has been effective. Plus, you're optimizing for some muscle to fat ratio, so the single number on the scale won't tell you much. Yuzu has very low body fat percentages (I remember reading in an interview that it's 4 to 6%) - but it's not unheard of. It's on-par with rowers and marathon runners. In other words, there are many athletes like him!
  14. I can think of at least two big hits: 1/ A serious, emotional movie about his fans. I remember tearing up from watching how you guys put together that giant banner for him last December. We need more movies like that! 2/ A short movie to convert noobs to fanyus. I find that everytime I gush, people just go... "wow, you really like this guy", rather "wow, this guy is really amazing".
  15. Agree agree! I also think that in that practice (above) he gives out an even more intimidating aura than in competitions.
  16. @robin Could you turn this into a poll? That would make the most sense I think...
  17. Oh, on this. I have a similar background but still love pop music (though it depends on the genre and the song). It's true that some pop songs are very annoying, but many are decent and got good harmony. Most importantly, pop music makes you feel like moving your body, while classical music... not so much. I think that's the key for Yuzu.
  18. @ruruzest: that's really nice, thanks for sharing! That's interesting. Well I had zero FS background (zero winter sports background even), and just stumbled upon Yuzu's vids by pure chance. So it's possible to convert FS noobs, for sure! But I agree that after learning more about the technical stuff, I appreciate Yuzu even more. I think to become a die-hard fan, something has to "click" personally from them. As in, the fan has had some experience simlar to his, and then they can realize how extraordinary Yuzu is.. For me, he is first and foremost an amazing athlete (thus by extension an amazing superhuman). I relate to his pressure and I am floored by how he handles them. With this reasoning, I have decided to highlight different bits about Yuzu when I gush to different people. It seems to work better! eg: my brother-in-law was learning French, so I sent him H&L with French commentaries, and he was blown away! Gotta find more French commentaries...
  19. @Danibellerika That's so COOL! I'm so happy that they interviewed you guys - at least now Yuzu now can associate some faces to his legion to foreign fans. Your Japanese is not bad at all btw! 伝説、そう~! LOL when the TV hosts marvelled at how far you guys threw Pooh-san...
  20. Sorry guys, completely off topic @yuzuangel and I are doing an impromptu meetup in San Francisco 10AM, Saturday March 31st. Location: https://www.westfield.com/sanfrancisco/stores/all-stores/starbucks/29145 If anybody else want to join us, drop by! I'll have a green backpack + yellow laptop bag.
  21. Love it! Especially the last paragraph. I totally agree with you. As for cyberbullying: it happens to everybody. It works because it brings out primitive motions in us (disgust, anger etc), our brains are wired to react more strongly to these emotions. Don't spread the nonsense. Constructive discussions are welcomed, but any blanket comments from troll should just be automatically deleted from your mind. I was cyberbullied myself long time ago. Lurk around a conversation about you that's not meant for your ears is always a bad idea. I am sure that Yuzu doesn't lurk, for his peace of mind. What supported me the most back then was to see how a classmate whom I barely knew stood up for me. She didn't address ridiculous statements, she just calmly explained away the more "technical" points. It gave me confidence, knowing that there are people who care. And that's all that matters. Yep, so cool! Jeans and t-shirt, with all the medals. Can't get cooler than that! I really really want to see Yuzu in white jeans and blue shirt again (like that asaichi time). It suits him so well.
  22. I know right! He dodge Matsuoka's question in a rather obvious way though. Like, if he did recover 100% he would have said "I'm glad that I'm better now". His answer was more like... To Yuzu, icing ankle is probably like putting on bandage...
  23. @yuzuangel@Chia Thanks! That makes total sense. Anyway... now I'm very shy about posting this silly gif...
  24. Dunno if this got shared https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/playback/yuzuru-hanyu-happy-to-say-nothing-at-all/ Looks like the Olympic Channel has some secret videos of Yuzu, and now they're splicing them + add in fluffs? So evil...
  25. @yuzuangel Thanks. So I tried "Insert Other Media", and it gives me two options * Insert from URL (doesn't apply as I created the gif, so it's on my laptop * Insert existing attachment: (cliked, it says: "no existing attachment", and there aren't any obvious buttons to upload anything) I must be missing something obvious...?
