Yeah but his point of view and his determination now probably has a different angle so this would feel very nostalgic for the good old days when all he had to worry about was regular stuff like his form and skating clean and getting the 4Lz to behave well. I can't watch it because while his aim is, I expect, still the same, the obstacles he needs to overcome have changed drastically, and I expect his battle plan has, too.

Soooo beautiful! She has such classic beauty, she looks like she could step back in time and be old-timey royalty.

Team we're fewer but still good!

According to WaPo, N. Korea said they'd go to the Winter Olympics. This isn't the wrong thread for that, is it? -

Let me just say again that you did an amazing job gathering all that data and doing the analysis. Data is neutral and there was no selective choosing of anything, and so... Complete combustion, like... Like rocket launch?

*waits for complaints that this is also an Evil FanyuTM conspiracy. ETA: Jason's number of crossovers might go down if his jumps got more stable and didn't need such long set-up.

I'm pathetic because I read the whole post, latched on to 'has recovered now' and I'm watered again. That means recovery is complete, his ankle is fine. *stuffs fingers in ears LALALALA I'm not listening to anything more*

God, we analyse every tidbit to death, don't we! Our deaths, that is.

Oh yes. I wonder if she went completely wild and used a neon yellow highlighter for that one.

Tbh it's actually fairly realistic to consider that Yuzu is probably back to 3A, if not 4T/4S, even if he's limiting to only a couple a day. He's had time to get the conditioning back and if he can land triples without pain, then everybody seems to agree that Yuzu gets those two quads back really quickly. It's been a while since we heard he was skating again, and there've been no reports of anything bad happening so no news is good news and if he's progressing on schedule, he'll be back to his full training sooner rather than later. I'm honestly only really worried about the loop and lutz as long as we hear nothing bad. Really, if anything really bad had happened, even TCC and Yuzu couldn't keep that out of the news this close to the Olympics. Especially since at the end of the day, JSF wants that gold. Without 4T and 4S at least very close to being back, he wouldn't be getting this support from them, too. So I tell myself when my imagination takes the wrong turn to Doomsville because no news. No news probably means there's no bad news. Bad news gets out and spreads really fast.
-
Ah, if they're not training together - as in, at the same rink so can see each other, not like training partners or anything - then whatever Javi said might just be general what he heard kind of thing. If the interview was taped after he got to TCC and he's been at the rink at the same time as Yuzu, then recovered and training would mean Yuzu is landing jumps of some description by now. I saw the translation that said they're training alongside each other. I prefer that interpretation, nobody would say he's recovered and training if he's not landing jumps. *withers*
-
Yeah, I'm going by the comment about training together. I assume that means he's been seeing him practice, even from another side of the rink or whatever. Even Javi would notice if Yuzu still wasn't jumping!
-
I think I remember the JSF statement or comment that said on the 16th of December he communicated (who knows how, LINE?!) that he was back on ice, but he could not do jumps properly because he was better but still had some pain. That kind of tallies with when we heard that he was back on ice and doing his step sequence and stuff. So now if Javi says he's recovered and they're training together, it's been almost three weeks since then, I would interpret it as there have been no setbacks after he got back on ice, so I'd guess that his ankle got its conditioning back at least to an extent and he's probably jumping again. If after so long on ice he had pain and he couldn't jump, then he wouldn't still be on ice and training, he'd be getting more scans and exploring more treatment. So if he got back on ice back then and he's described even in passing as recovered and training, I'd say he's well on track and getting back to top form. So yeah, I'm feeling very optimistic about that little comment from Javi!
-
News! Confirmation that he has recovered! Javi bleating sounds seem apt for this moment. Oh, the relief! The NYT article, it's better than nothing, visibility is good, and the fact that despite not competing, nobody could overtake him means they couldn't quite run with the Nathan's-now-the-one-to-beat theme. The piece itself was very meh. True, meant for the general public so definitely needed to be kept simple, but it lacked focus, and it lacked adequate structure for a longer feature with multiple points. But that's just how it's written. The content itself is all right. The subeditor who was on that copy should've done a better job.

OMG That has squished me completely. That is just so adorable.

I just went digging into US Nats videos and I am in shock, in shock I tell you, because the curls are gone, and he'd better have an excellent costume because, well, if we get dad shirt from Walmart and stretchy slacks AND NO CURLS then what, even. Zero Brian jumps? Really? What about his dramatic gestures to punctuate the choreography? My sister was most amused when I pointed out all the Seimei gestures from Brian. But cannot wait for the kitty video! Give, please please! He has the effortless elegance I picture myself having when I buy baggy clothes but I very much don't. The PPOS pose on land, I mean, I... I mean... You know what I mean.

Wouldn't that be something! I wish we could have behind the scenes of that photo shoot, at least, it must've been fun!

Are those eclairs, because that's my post-holidays diet dashed in new record time. Destroying records, just like our Overlord. Except not quite like that. I should watch more videos for more sigspiration. I wanted to do something from CoR swan but perfect as he was, the entire thing was very pink. Btw your 3A video was watched about a million times when I was internet-deprived. Ahh it is so nice to get my Yuzu-rambling fix again! Yuzu trading cards, I mean, that is an excellent idea.

Very belated Happy New Year to everybody! So after two weeks, a dry, brittle cactus came back to find there's been basically no news. The Olympics is this year now, it feels far more urgent and tense. Thinking of it as next year was much easier. All I can say is thank the universe, mods and admins for this place because without it... I'm not laid-back at all, I just wanted the laid-back in a bower bad pun in there...
-
I might be everything but the happy and watered ones, depending on what time it is, how the wind is blowing, what colour I'm wearing, whether I've had coffee... But I don't think I could be happy/watered even if I tried lol. *sigh*

Awww... I'm sure she'll come around eventually! My husband just looks on indulgently as I babble about things he really has no interest in. Occasionally he throws in tangentially related anecdotes like 'Oh this tooth, I chipped it the only time I went ice skating. I didn't go again because, well, see, I chipped my tooth and I sometimes have a sense of self-preservation.' He starts talking about what's going on in his career mode in FIFA if I do it too much and then it's my turn to get glazed over eyes and nod along blankly while I replay H&L in my head. He's used to how I really really get into something once my interest is piqued (we've been together a while now lol), though, and I know it's boring for him so I don't talk to him too much about figure skating. Or Yuzu. We argue over football instead. Maybe if you talk about your interest in the sport itself and about other skaters as well, she won't feel annoyed? Especially if you can get her interested in the juniors, there are such interesting performances among the young ones. Then it won't seem like gushing about Yuzu specifically, so much.

I woke up even more thankful that he withdrew because my nerves would've interfered with the controls of the planes I'll be on a over the next few days.

This is very minor, but sometimes I can't play videos embedded in posts. Says 'media cannot be played' after a second of the loading circle thingie. If I click on the video and open it at the source like Twitter/YouTube, it plays fine. Just a heads up in case this is something that should be looked into, it's not an actual problem to use the forum at all.

Joining the regret chorus because I'm going to have very limited access to the webbernets over the holidays and I can't think of anything nice (and virtual) I could give, too.

I think the Olympics is a big deal because it's the one everybody watches. Not just people who love a particular sport, or even people who love sports in general. Broadcast on TV just about everywhere, watched everywhere where there is winter at all. (Not so much where I am lol) Everybody hears the names of the Olympic gold medalists, even if they might not remember them for too long. I complain about people's unrealistic expectations of Yuzu, but come to think of it, nobody has higher expectations than he does. It must be exhausting to be him and live up to his own standards! ETA: So we will only see final final costumes for the Olympics? Damn.
