Ah, we melted down a little, did we? Kind of glad I slept through it! Well, I think it'll be fine. What would be the point of all of this secrecy if he just gave it all away at the team event and lost the advantage, too? Now his competitors will have absolutely no clue about his actual competition layout when he does turn up. How much can they adjust if all they see is him in practice, and not during competition? They won't know what to adjust to. And if Yuzu made the decision that he's not doing team event, it must mean he is confident that he can be mentally in the right space without that competition time. He might not be the best judge of whether his body is up to landing a quad when he has a fever, but he is the best judge of his state of mind. At the end of the day, if he was going to have a bad skate at the team event, he would've lost that mental edge of feeling prepared. If it was going to be a good but not great skate, the fear of Yuzu's comeback would've come down. If there was a great skate in the stars, he might not have been able to replicate it again. And worst case scenario, if he's not a hundred percent still, he can power through anything for one short and one free. No point risking himself for more.

I like it too. Though when I see TES falling in real time for skaters I really like, I don't like it so much. I'll be watching alone - the only other person I've got even a little interested is my sister and she a) doesn't live with me and b) is in no way shape or form going to get up early to watch it with me online, so... I guess I'll explain to the dogs. They'll listen as long as there's a treat in it for them.

Thank you! My birthdays for the last few years have been disasters, so yesterday there was no disaster, and I was pleasantly surprised! And then it felt like the Olympic countdown has truly started as I start my new year, so I'm ready. Not. I'm not ready, I lied, I'm totally not ready.

I think we share birthdays, I'm just in a different time zone so I went to sleep before realising it had changed, so discovered my 'birthday gift' a few hours late!

Ohh I opened site before coffee and new theme! Oh. *looks up breathing exercises* *buys relaxing candles and oils* *gives up and dies* It's so beautiful, you guys. It's really perfect.

Ah, sorry about that! And while I know everything you said makes perfect sense, none of it makes me feel better about him falling on a quad. Even Nessie.

I don't want Nessie anymore, I don't want him falling and cutting himself like that.

This boy, he's such an endearing mix of desire for validation, slight bewilderment that so many people consider him so good, and complete certainty that he can achieve perfection if he tries hard enough!

So we'll die slowly and softly instead of all at once. *sigh* I sound ungrateful, I'm not. I'm sure it's wonderful and it will get us used to it gradually, so there will be fewer cases of extreme shock on The Day.

Good, that does confirm that his foot hasn't fallen off, which would've been one reason for all the secrecy. Good. That's good.

Honestly, I think he's been trolling us and his opponents. I mean, at one point they were tossing bone inflammation out and if that is actually true, then this will be the greatest YOLO Olympics of all time while he's on antibiotics and hopped up on so many pain pills that he'd feel like he's jumping octos or something. (It sounded odd so I looked it up and apparently it's something that happens from infection, bacterial or fungal, getting into the bone marrow, either through blood stream or from a surrounding soft tissue infection. It doesn't seem to have much to do with a sprained ankle, though. And if it was mistranslation of inflammation around the bone, well then, duh, they didn't need to say that, did they?) I do think nobody outside of TCC has the slightest clue how he's actually doing and he wants that element of surprise for as long as he can have it. It's the only possible advantage of having to miss competitions and he's making whatever he can of it. Imagine, all of those people who want his gold will be coming in without the slightest clue just how Yuzuru Hanyu is. That must add to the pressure cooker feeling.

I would've agreed except, well, ACI Chopin. *shrug* Sure maybe that was an anomaly, but everything about this infuriatingly miraculous young man is an anomaly, so I haven't the slightest clue what would actually work best for him. So I'll just trust him to know what he needs and do just that.
