He had a really good score to not have it even be perfect! I really think his FS is going to do very well for him this year. Super excited to see how well he does! Even if he has no shot at being top 5, staying in the top 10 without any (consistent) quads is amazing.

I looooove this skate. I don't normally like his skating at all because he has a tendency to seem disconnected from what he's doing (kinda like he doesn't care almost) but with this one it's not like that AT ALL! It's just really, really fun to watch.

After the announcement by the ISU that there may be 'Radical Change' in scoring coming up, there has been a lot of speculation on what is and isn't possible in the future regarding the proposed changes. What are your thoughts on the proposed changes? What do you think would be better changes or different changes that could be made in scoring? While this has been touched on in some of the more general threads, there are enough of us that I think have thoughts or questions enough to start a discussion specifically about the scoring system and what should/shouldn't be changed. I'm very interested to see what thoughts others have on the various proposals and the current system as it is. I think most of us can agree that the current system is a little frustrating, but is it really worth such radical change? All thoughts welcome!

Whenever his hair isn't gelled up, it always looks kind of reddish. I didn't notice it for a long time, because I only saw him on ice, but when it isn't gelled or wet, it is a more reddish tint.

I basically agree with you. Based on what I've seen at US Intl Classic, his SP is good, I like it better than either of last year's programs, and his FS is frustrating because it's a good program and he isn't trying to catch up with the music like last year's, but he clearly doesn't 'feel' it. It's not bad. I like his skating better this season. It just is hard to watch and not think, "This FS would be really good if *insert other skaters you like* did it." I like figure skating because it's ballet on ice, and it's sad to me when the men's field is slowly becoming gymnastics on ice instead. It's not that I don't like Nathan. It's just that what I enjoy about skating is not what his strengths are. You mention the other two, and Jason and Adam are my favorite US men for sure. This season, Jason's FS is magnificent. And I've seen videos of his quad sal in practice and it's SO CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL! If he can ever manage to work the two quads he's got planned into that wonderful FS, I'll be so happy. He may still not hold a candle to the top men, but it will still be something magical for us who are fans of SKATING, not fans of just jumping, to watch.
