He didn’t go into detail (I think it was an interview? But v early in season so I cant find it rn). But if memory serves correctly from the discussion it triggered, it would be things like having to clear w Yuzu’s sponsors (who are likely funding a lot of his expenses), JSF, etc. there’s a whole system surrounding Yuzu that you kind of have to get through iirc

@micaelis you’ve talked about Stephen a lot before but I really don’t see where you’re getting the basis for Stephen being the most pressing motivator for Yuzu - there are so many senior skaters right now who are an immediate challenge. Brian’s smart about jumps. Almost no way he’s going to be encouraging Stephen to go for a 4A while he hasn’t stopped growing, where he absolutely doesn’t need it and when he has so much to polish re: skating skills etc. It’s a bloody dangerous jump, here’s a reason no one’s even attempted it for fun. I do agree there’s no way Yuzu’s keeping idle re: skating but he’s still recovering and will be for awhile. he’s matured a lot this season and Brian isn’t his caretaker. If anything, Olympics solidified how well they can do when they’re working together as a team to strategise for the season ahead. And no, I don’t expect any updates abt Yuzu’s condition from Brian during off season esp when coming back from injury - there’s no precedent I know of. ((Misha’s mentioned the problem w choreographing for Yuzu isn’t lack of desire on either party but bc there’s a lot of bureaucracy and approval surrounding Yuzu they need to clear iirc. Which makes me sad, I’d love an EX collab between them))

oh yes, in theory they absolutely shouldn't be judging based on perceived abilities but...sadly, they do. yuzuru's one of the few skaters who gets harsher judging the more 'perfect' he is. I was just speculating about whether there's a human dimension of resistance like if your first instinct is to throw +3s at him (because his performances seem perfect), you may be more suspicious of that feeling or feel like you need to work extra hard to do your 'job' and hence be harsher, rather than if you know that a skater eg. usually only delivers +1GOE jumps and then they deliver something above your expectations.

Yuzuru really is held to a stricter standard... and while I'm sure that forces him to be even more precise and perfect with his elements and is how scoring should work, it's always a little ==;; to see evidence of how he tends to be graded at a different standard. I wonder if there exists a certain psychological resistance to awarding perfect marks or suspicion of anything that looks too perfect that factors into the tendency to be much more picky with his elements

? I don't think he's ever mentioned a 4-4 combination (iirc the risk/reward re: points isn't worth it) or specifically that he wanted to master all 5 quads (though that may change if he does land the 4A), or ever outlined what his ideal skate involves in such material or specific terms lol, it's always been abstract ideals of wanting to win 'decisively' over everyone else delivering clean programs or to touch the audience in some way. This would maybe be closer to what I wish would happen after his ideal skate but that's just my opinion

okay I need help, this is KILLING me. I RT'd this artwork on my twitter on 18th Feb but like an idiot, screenshotted the image and didn't record the person who tweeted/drew it. I've tried reverse Google image search (no results, only my post on Tumblr and a pinterest post with no credit) and have attempted to use Twitter Advanced Search to find my account on that date, but it only shows my own posts and not the RTs, I've tried to SCROLL DOWN to that date on my twitter but it literally doesn't load past Mar 3 (I should...stop tweeting so much). I've just tweeted at Twitter to see if they have a way to see your RTs AND your tweets on a certain date but in the meantime........anyone have any idea who drew this?

Oh for sure, I can think of a bunch of better ways to convey the sentiment but if Yuzuru Hanyu approached you and was insisting on the title because it was personal to him and he had spent a long time thinking about it... I doubt anyone would be interested in changing his mind, especially because tickets selling out is really not the problem when it comes to him, nor is raising awareness since the media report on every tiny update lol (sadly they don't seem that interested in marketing outside Japan)
