  9. We need to make a media thread with compilation of post-PC videos... there's so much content - clips shared before the full program that are scattered around Twitter - and I still haven't found the post-win presscon with Javi, Yuzu and Shoma
  10. Yes, in the quote from Iron Klaus, it was more that once the doctor told him ‘it can’t heal more than this’, he snapped into a decision and could focus on his training. My interpretation is that he implies there was certainty and no longer wondering if he has to treat his ankle carefully to aid recovery (like ‘this is what I have to work with now ’). To be able to focus on that is truly strength. Time will tell if he can recover fully and I hope he does take the time but like. Again, yuzu’s entire season has been about working with what he has now so lets follow his example and focus on minimising worry abt uncertain future events. He’ll be back as long as his health allows so let’s just trust in him and his team. Now, more than ever, we can say ‘have they ever let us down?’
  11. Is another presscon starting? Does anyone have a link to the full post-FS presscon w/ javi and shoma btw?
  12. Copied and pasted from my tweet thread about the topic (albeit slightly edited/rearranged) but I've seen quite a few people anxious on PH too so... my thoughts (esp after watching Yuzu's recent interviews - I speed-translated Matsuoka and Nobu's one here) I’ve seen a bit of panic around Yuzu’s injury & I just want to say that after listening to him talk, it’s not a question of IF he’s coming back but when. He still has skating goals & motivation but he’s very aware he came to this Olympics ‘borrowing’ future time. So he needs to heal first. Loss of competitive drive is what makes athletes retire & Yuzu has always been extraordinarily ‘thirsty’ as an athlete while also working harder than anyone out there. It’s what makes him a champion. Yes there will be a lessening of this now that he’s achieved his goal, which is inevitable and natural. I think the injury made him re-examine his ‘thirsts’, possibly made him realise some of them are superficial & can be thrown away (which was kind of what he was telling Matsuoka and Nobu). But there’s still stuff he wants to do & he loves the sport, so I don't think his motivation has gone down to zero, maybe he just has more simple/refined goals now. The part of me that dropped $$$ (and flew across the world lol) on Worlds is selfishly a little sad that maybe he won’t go but I truly believe he’ll return to competition at least for a few years (personally I doubt he's going for another Olympics but again, who knows). After Sochi he was frantic to prove himself but the nature of this victory was different, he's matured as a person and the injury seems to have made him change a lot of that 'do or die'/uncompromising-to-the-point-of-risking-his-health thinking that was so anxiety-inducing in the past (which underlay things like Boston/skating after the CoC accident). As someone who identifies with that perfectionistic/idealistic pitfall, I'm proud of him, I'm inspired by that. We just need to be patient and let him recover properly now, finally unburdened from this goal. He’ll be back and if the last 2 days are anything to go by, he may surprise us yet.
  13. I'm giggling, I only found a partial clip of the keigo part and was laughing so hard, the full interview is even better. I'm looking forward to more content from the two of them (after they rest laksfjas) and I'm lowkey happy Yuzu has someone who can sort of share the spotlight with him, even though Shoma seems to just cause TV hosts to become mildly concerned for him wherever he goes lmao (he's such a soft, gentle boy off-ice it's hilarious)
  14. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Tokyo Ghoul so I don't know what he's referencing but he's definitely making some references. I like that confirming his weeb status is a priority Yuzu calls the seiyu 'Kaneki-kun' as someone said above, says he of course knows Hinaka-san but (something went 'Pa'???) Says 'I'm relieved' about getting the gold medal but stumbles when he says it either because he's exhausted or - like he says - because he's nervous - 'more nervous than during my free' LOL The hosts say they heard he was a huge fan of Tokyo Ghoul and he says 'hahahaha...haha..haaah' (either slightly embarrassed or referencing something in the anime) but confirms that he's a huge fan of Tokyo Ghoul and says he often watches anime The host also asks him excitedly if he owns merchandise and he sort of reluctantly admits he owns a lot (lmao he's totally a weeb) He got into Monster Hunter after doing the CM and has been playing it ever since He hasn't gotten the latest work (version?) says he wants it but..... (trails off in a sort of 'but I can't get it/it's hard to get' sort of playful inflection - my interpretation) The weapon he uses in Monster Hunter is a Charge X?? And Roman?? (idk man, he's bonding with the male host about it tho) Says 'Kaneki-kun!' (which is from Tokyo Ghoul) and probably some other weeb phrases LOLOLOL
  15. oh my god yuzu and shoma look and sound EXHAUSTED in this interview lol, let them SLEEP (lowkey though I'm kind of glad they have each other to share the spotlight a little)
  16. im a weeping mess because of this interview
  17. I'm lowkey loving these parody comics Yuzu: 'This time for Pyeongchang, I'm going to bring [BEEEP]' ('Pooh' is censored like a swearword lol) Brian: It's no good Yuzu. Because of grown-up* circumstances, [BEEEP] is a no-go in Pyeongchang. It was like this in Sochi too wasn't it?' Brian: YUZU---- *'Grown-up' meaning discussions reserved for adults (the way you'd tell a child 'this is a grown-up issue' because the subject is too complicated for them)
  18. I don't trust either of the two lying liars who lie
  19. New (? I feel like I've read some of this before) interview with Brian and filled with EMOTIONAL ATTACKS, be warned (I love brian, I love TCC ) http://www.insideskating.net/2018/02/15/interviews/brian-orser-im-all-for-moving-the-sport-forward-but-i-am-also-all-for-beautiful-effortless-skating-transitions-choreography-that-makes-sense
  20. Agreed -- while it was upsetting to find out just how severe his injury was (I suspected it was worse than they had been letting on), I'm glad he was able to remind everyone of just how wonderful his outlook is, and to give an impression of confidence and optimism after such a long struggle. And taking the time to thank everyone (including people sending him messages when he was injured... I'm pretty confident that includes all of our fan gifts!) like the class act he is. One presscon was better than being hounded by reporters for multiple comments (while being a spectacle in itself). I know it's easy to project our own anxieties onto him but the boy is used to media attention, had the chance to rebut speculation with his own words and handled it beautifully, I think he'll be fine on that front
  21. Japanese media - from what I've seen - is focused on reporting on Yuzu and getting the opinions of their many 'experts' (mostly ex-skaters) and analysing everything that happens. They're flocking to Yuzu but that's expected...I actually expected them to feature Shoma more but Shoma's just disappeared from the media as soon as Yuzu got there. They don't tend to do any in-depth pieces on the other skaters, though they'll mention Nathan/Javi/sometimes Boyang when explaining quads etc. They're probably the best when it comes to actually explaining how scoring/jumps/FS works so it's a huge pity their coverage is inaccessible for English-speaking audiences. They're not....very good at hype lol but American media hype is sort of inimitable anyway so >_>
  22. SP of Worlds 2016????? Do you mean 2017? He was hiding the lisfranc injury in 2016...pretty sure they said later he basically pulled through the SP on sheer force of will alone. He wants two perfect skates for Olympics, so I hope it'll pan out like GPF and NHK actually.
  23. Yep! Shizuka said she's trying not to ask Yuzu about his injury's progression or condition. She says it's definitely his time to concentrate on what he needs to do so in order to give him a feel of the atmosphere of the stadium, she sent him a photo and that's exactly what he replied, along with 'I'm looking forward to it' ( :
