  1. I'm laughing at how I was just hoping they'd interact and now they're being their usual ridiculous comedy duo (Yuzu cheekily imitating Shuzo's mannerisms is my favourite) Curious about the greenscreen and also Shuzo's......'swimming gear'.......what on earth do they have planned for the final CM
  2. To be fair, I think all skaters seek to improve their programs between each competition and are all chasing their own 'perfection'. But due to gaps in ability or taste or sensibility, perhaps they aren't able to or don't address all areas and their definition of 'perfection' differs. Perhaps all their energy is concentrated into getting the jumps correctly, or maybe they simply lack a more refined appreciation for musical nuances so they will 'stop' at a certain point and be satisfied, where other skaters may keep at it, chasing an endpoint only they can envision. I think the fact that FS blends a whole bunch of 'frames of mind' sometimes gets overlooked -- with art, I can chip away at a painting obsessively using my 'artistic' knowledge but at least all I need to worry about is my eyes and hands from a physical level, whereas figure skaters are chipping away on several fronts. It takes both technical prowess and a hypercritical, perfectionist and degree of obsessive dedication (in a good way) to the program concept and music to try and refine it on all fronts and to do so noticeably and with such speed. It's not entirely a surprise to me why Yuzu is a slow starter in that regard, but the potential is simmering and so noticeable. Helsinki can't come quickly enough ;;
  3. Agreed, the minimalist SE and the stare he gave the judges was great, it was the way he kind of relaxed a bit too much after the jump and before the SE that didn't quite look 'finished'. But I don't worry it will be left incomplete -- I'm really just excited to see how the program has transformed between ACI and Helsinki. I get so emotional whenever I hear someone like Shuzo-san talk about Yuzu. Truly, I'm glad there's someone in the media who really just gets it (as a former sportsman). You can feel his sincere and genuine respect for Yuzu so clearly in the way he talks, you can tell Shuzo himself is someone who thinks and sees very deeply into Yuzu, who really takes the time to consider things from Yuzu's perspective. I'm really touched he was so candid about his impressions, as much as it breaks my heart to hear him echo the thought that Yuzu must have been hurt deeply at various points ;;; The purest hypeman, deserving of an OGM being placed around his neck in thanks
  4. wouldn't be surprised. I feel like Yuzu and Brian would never talk about it if it wasn't about ready to pull out -- wasn't he training 4Lz for a number of years earlier than 2017? JP media may be sitting on 4A info the same way they sat on 4Lz-3T footage (the snakes... lol. but I wouldn't expect any less)
  5. I wholeheartedly endorse increased variety in plushies being thrown in yuzu's general direction - we saw a bunch of goats at ACI and ghislain confirmed he understood the joke, so hopefully he's going to explain it to Yuzu (I also explained it in my letter to him lolol). This one might be a little advanced though
  6. barely and wow, shouldn’t have underestimated #hanyuconomy, places selling out after a day ;;;
  7. I’m about a month late but just to get ACI completely out of my system and add some #throwback flavour to the flood of content we’re getting, I finally finished my vlog, which includes a lot of extra Yuzu practice and comp footage in addition to ‘full’ fancams. Photos and impressions from the comp are in my blog post http://bit.ly/ACISR. Hope it’s okay to share ^^;;
  8. Trust Yuzu to pull the most Extra of ‘senpai notice me’ moves (though I’m giggling at how Extra he’s going to be in the GP series...we thought he gave up his life for Seimei but this is him unleashing Full Fanboy and we know from experience how much power we can harness when our fan emotions are harnessed I expect him to be making the programs more complex and getting on top of stamina issues. He’s got quite a bit of time before the first GP, I’m sure he’ll use it wisely. Side note: Not sure if appropriate to link here but I have an ACI recap up on my blog now with impressions from the comp and Yuzu http://bit.ly/ACISR. If not allowed, please just enjoy some Yuzu photography from me : P
  9. The lovely @ruruzest took this video from where she was sitting and gave me permission to share - Yuzu from close up ; u ;
  10. Oh that's so awkward on the Olympic Channel's part............ to get their own gold medallist wrong
  11. this is erasure of that one time we all sat through two hours of mezamashi tv in the morning for a yuzu segment only to be trolled completely
  12. snort. this was a whole confusion this morning and a lot of unnecessary emo tears were shed because @SparkleSalad unleashed chaos : P (but the cutest kind). Here's the clip:
  13. Programs develop over the course of the season so it's natural for there to be choreographic changes (eg. LGC/Seimei between ACI and the first GP) between ACI and the GP and he has the advantage of the first GP being relatively later in the season. So yeah, we could see some jump layout changes etc. in the time, but I don't really remember Yuzu changing up his jump layout very frequently or significantly (the only time I remember him doing so was after Skate Canada in 2015 out of kuyashii lol) - I think he likes to aim for his final layout and slowly chip away at it until he gets it. It'll depend how things go by the time ACI rolls around.
  14. Not all the jumps. But from what we know about Yuzu, I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to show that he's made material improvements to his jumps from the last time we saw him, and also have a good grasp on his programs so he can present its best version (even if the media won't be disclosing everything). Timeline-wise, it is a little tight (also rehabilitation probably has its own quirks)
  15. Yeah, late August would also be my bet if it's not next week. Like you said, his usual start would be somewhat delayed bc of rehab and the ice shows. They would have the actual media day and a 1000% have a strict embargo on any content being released until the designated date (it takes time to produce the articles/news features so they wouldn't be releasing the material right after media day). And if any media outlet breaks that embargo...good luck ever getting access to Yuzu again tbqh. They're not going to break it, not even for a 4A. Personally, I'll bet he'll wait until he has something beyond what he's shown last time we saw him at FAOI, so very possible it'll be after he's recovered another quad. So I agree with your timeline - he may have the actual media day mid/late August, for a potential late August release.
  16. Realistically I expect media day to be early next week (almost no way they're going to release it on a Friday afternoon or over the weekend from a media/business perspective - Monday/Tuesday in time for morning news might be my guess) or it might be delayed further into the month bc of rehab/Yuzu being at ice shows so not having time to refine his programs enough to his standards. They've never announced media day in advance I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Last year I think it just dropped on the 8th (Tuesday incidentally). So...patience, would be my advice : P
  17. he really checks out of that haircare routine when he's off ice doesn't he aslfkjsa yuzu pls the hair this year is especially..... (but ahh this really highlights how hard he was training last year in the off season, he was competition-skinny ; __ ; )
  18. haha I came on prepared to translate the full segment but @sweetwater you are too efficient! thank you for doing them - I'm so happy it feels like yuzu really got to spend time at home, inspiring the kids who are skating in the rink he really helped to build, who understand the impact of the disaster first-hand and with Nanami-sensei too! ;;
  19. Thank you so much for continuing the translation, it's fascinating to look at the process behind the scenes. No pressure at all but I hope you keep at it!
  20. lmfaoo that hair tho, how does he go from ~amazing styled LGC sweep~ to mushroom so quickly not sure if the lilac's doing anything for him but the cartoon is a hilarious creepy-cute.
  21. Yuna's post. Unbelievable and hard to process. Such a senseless murder and my heart breaks for his family especially. I hope he rests in peace and takes comfort in the fact the entire skating community grieving for him is a small reflection of how deeply he was appreciated.
  22. Hi all - just a reminder that the podcast has been consistently releasing new episodes every fortnight (and some bonus ones). I'm just posting the most recent one that I hosted along with @CupidsBow and two other friends on gender in figure skating. We talk a bit about Yuzu in this ep so have a listen if you'd like ( :
  23. Haru Yo Koi is his EX for the season apparently (announced at FAOI I think) so if anything, I'm hoping he'll get that costume slightly more refined (I like the concept, I think the way it was made and the way the sleeve ruffles are attached is kind of clumsy right now). Feel like it's very unlikely it'll be Wings of Words costume
  24. totally unrelated bc it's daisuke but does anyone know where the original video of this is? (asking for the sake of ART that I'm creating that involves yuzu so still on topic : P) https://78.media.tumblr.com/13d61c763b218599760626affdcfdf75/tumblr_inline_pbdmqkodvt1qm80iy_250.gif
  25. Armani - Underarmour is sleeping on this boy and his hanyuconomy power, so if you've got a smart marketing department, you really should jump on board first >__>
