I suppose so but even among fans of figure skating I've noticed it. Maybe they're more nationalistic than me - well, any American is probably more patriotic than any Australian could ever be - but I don't care about nationality in this sport - I just want the best to do well.

He said 表現者 which my dictionary translates as "expressive person (e.g. in musical performance)"

I love -lo combos I wonder if it might be cultural. The crticisms I've heard seem to come mostly from America which is the polar opposite of Japan in terms of appreciation of subtlty. (Please don't take that as a criticism of American culture.) On the other hand Europeans seem much quicker to label his programs masterpieces. It also seems a lot of Hanyu fans were interested in or familiar with Japanese culture to begin with so maybe it's not such a struggle to interpret his performances. (I myself am a ridiculous level 99 Japanophile since tiny times.) Just wondering aloud.

And I love how they matched it to the angle of his leg! XD

Awww, Uncle Pchan. I still don't understand his reputation among some as cold and expressionless, though. Does it come from his first years with Brian when his stamina was so low that he couldn't really express what he wanted to? I think it must, otherwise how could you watch his 2011-12 season and say "boy, there's a passionless guy!"?

Me too! Gimme gimme gimme!

I love that routine! Drunk pirate choreography! Who knows if he is stumbling on purpose or not! Genius!

I actually loved those baggy pants. Looked so great with his upright spins and jumps. After that, and the Italian pair's Chaplin, I was all "Skating should have a standard uniform and it should be AT LEAST jodhpurs!" Then Yuzu came out and I shut up. I'm also looking forward to 4lo becaue I love 4lo and I like javi's jumps.

Someone spirited away my ballet slippers from the dressing room at the last concert I did and I had to slip and slide all over the place dance in stockings. I have much sympathy but you know, good outcome >_>- 6,825 replies

Accents fine, not huge blocks. But if I get it out of my system and jinx it now I might end up with purple WHICH IS MADE FROM BLUE AND RED BINGO IT FITS!

Costumes we love to hate

Ugh, they did this offensive sheet for the Olympics. And they look like gingerbread man salad, which is offensive to my tastebuds. -

Hahaha LULWAT?! ETA I actually sat through this whole thing and now I kinda wanna punch something. (No, female Japanese commentator, it is definitely not kawaii.) Instead I am going to Ringu this and pass the curse along. -
I know but blade covers + red UA + superstitious boy = red costume is coming.

On topic of new costume, My favourite flowers in the whole wide world are balloon flowers. And what's planted at Seimei Shrine? (I assume for their star shape.) source source Maybe already influenced the original costume but would love to see this motif.

Red costume is coming and I'm not sure if I want.

I don't like gold. Silver is more elegant and moony.
