I became a fan in the summer before 16/17 season! (I voted this as my option, though it was technically the off-season). I saw a post about Javi and a gifset of Yuzu+Javi and went researching, first I watched Javi videos (which I liked a lot), but then I watched the destined video of Parisienne Walkways from Sochi and I was completely overwhelmed by his skating! Coincidentially, I was deeply into anime (and especially sports anime) fandom at that point, and I already heard the announcement about ~the figure skating anime~ being in the works, I thought it was alright to watch a few videos beforehand just to get a taste of the sport. Of course it ended going completely out of control, and all I did that summer was watch various Yuzu playlists every single day until I was (mainly) caught up. I signed up for goldenskate at the time, but I was scared of people there, plus the Yuzu thread was having some sorts of drama going on, so I mostly stayed away and joined Planet when that was established Then the 2016/17 season came, and YOI started airing, so I had an interesting experience of witnessing many of my mutuals getting into figure skating as well, while I was already deep into and watching every competition. (For me personally, the impact of YOI was mainly to make me appreciate and see the appeal other skaters as well, like Johnny, Stephane, Daisuke, some of the japanese ladies skaters, etc). So in general, I had a great experience and I hope it continues being as good as it has been so far! I like to believe I've learnt how to avoid the drama and stay away from people who spread negativity, it's the only way to make your way through any fandom, and it's been working for now in the Yuzu/FS fandom as well EDIT I'm reading through these replies and

I read this as "fan dance" as in making his fans dance with him (only the folding fans part made me do a double take :p) (don't judge, I am tired, and jpop idols sometimes do this at their concerts ok! ) That said, I'm sure Yuzu fans would have no problems learning the pre-determined routine beforehand! Just imagine a Yuzu dance that everyone in the arena does with him though, what an experience it'd be, I don't think anyone has done this before at an figure skating event, if anyone, Yuzu can do this

nooo, he wouldn't I think his version of trashy and weird would probably not go further than skating to something he likes (I'm thinking anime/gaming.) Maybe Tokyo Ghoul OST. Which isn't even that bad, so I'd give him a pass

I agree, Yuzu has the chance to enjoy freedom for the first time in so many years... He said he will now do things that he always wanted, didn't he? Whether people like them or not! I'm excited to see what his genius mind brings to the world. Without having any pressure on him to prove himself, I think great things are ahead of us and I fully trust him!

Hello everyone! I am looking for the interview that Yuzu did on Japanese TV, I can't remember the channel, but it was a day or two after his OGM, the only detail I can remember is he was given a very pretty bouquet and he commented "ah, pretty flowers" as he was putting it down and taking a seat. The set behind him was a flower wall as well. I hope someone here knows what I'm talking about... EDIT: nevermind, I did some digging and found what I was looking for

I was wondering too, maybe they'll put his ankle in a cast or sth just to make sure it stays immobile? That was my first thought at rest + rehab wording. (But I am no doctor at all of course so I am waiting on medic fanyus to pop up :p)

Agreed. It looked more like an emotional outburst that he couldn't control, a culmination of him + Javi both on podium, and Javi probably saying sth about retirement in that group hug. (Also people were mentioning about how Yuzu said that the last time he took painkillers it maid him feel emotionless, so this time he must have changed them 'cause the result seemed like the total opposite... Maybe those had an effect on him as well... He was crying pretty hard in all the fancams

I just saw this on my timeline, it seems that a new Pooh movie is coming out as well at first I was appalled that Yuzu wasn't in the main role. But I guess his English does indeed need some more improvement Maybe after Beijing he can be the star of the next Pooh movie, eating honey in the English countryside

idk how it is in Japan, but in Europe it's quite common for corporations to bid on athletes' gear in order to get a shoutout and maybe be featured in some news, so usually the highest bid is always from a company/corporation...

Preach! Also, to bring this back on topic: I am forever grateful to Stéphane for helping Yuzu out (I heard he helped with 4T and some spins in Etude), and a wish for them to collaborate again remains, maybe one of the future choreographies, perhaps an exhibition one

Yes, this was the point I was trying to make in my reply. It's true, I never saw the Japanese hierarchy system in practice but I know of its existence and to me it was clear what Yuzu was doing

I also thought of that - but not exactly as a gesture of keeping Shoma in "his place", but more of a "I don't want things to get too tense between us with all the medals and serious competition stuff. I'm your senpai and your my kouhai and this is how it is going to be, forever, even if you one day surpass me" :'D
