I noticed the comment about only these 2 having won golds, but i just dismissed it. i think since everyone was mentioning Dick Button (who people still remember as a commentator) so many times last year that people forget to mention who came before... like many forget Larisa Latynina and her achievements in gymnastics... it was just so long ago, before big time tv etc... the average viewer of an afternoon show only wants to hear (briefly) how great Hanyu is, they won't want a whole list of champs from a long time ago.... skating fans might, but the average viewer? Nah.

My guess is WTT or after that even. I think i am probably not risking much by saying he wants J Nats back, a home World title again.... Who knows about 4CC.... The 4A might become next year's show practice project if he gets better in practice at home... it took years for him to put in 4loop and 4lz... and we know 4A is a far more elusive, and dangerous, beast. I just feel he will be cautious with it, unless he has a sudden breakthrough between Nats and World's... I bet Brian watches him like a hawk when training and won't let him try it if he notices anything off about yuzu that day (after what happened with 4lz when he wasnt there). I guess it is stay tuned until we hear otherwise....

So now I am going to go and watch that again, knowing what was in his mind..

I like that the ninja is starting to appear on camera more and more from his bat cave.... and even ate food in a social situation!!! Maybe he really is a bit more relaxed without those Olympic rings sitting in his backpack.... for now, anyway. SC is over... onward march to Helsinki!!!!

I certainly did not mean to be overly negative of origin and otonal. Seeing them live at ACI was amazing and I absolutely love both programs. I think origin is his most developed and full long program ever. Otonal just needs to be clean. I have no doubts that they will only become more amazingvwith time.
-
I find Origin pretty much perfect in terms of construct. The bones of the program are great, I find it waaaay more interesting and complex than H&L, and it *only* needs clean elements.... like a house that only needs some new paint and fixtures as opposed to tearing down walls and moving the plumbing. Otonal is great in parts, especially from step seq to the end. However, I also find it unbalanced. The 3 jumps to start are definitely the issue for me. I know it was his idea and he had reasons, but I think moving one of them to later would be better. With Chopin, over the years he moved his elements around and they still fit the music and I think it could be done here too. I hope he considers it, but maybe right now he has to see how it looks after skating it clean. ACI wasn't the best outing for it, so you cannot get the intended impression. But, like others have said, he is trying new things and this is absolutely the time for that. I trust him to keep evolving, as usual, and to keep showing us he never stagnates.

Yeah, I can imagine reading some of our comments from back in real time would be quite funny!! One day I'll go back and look at our older collective craziness too....

Winnie (the actual, real bear) was from Northern Ontario... so he'd have to hop on a train to go there from Toronto. Not as cool as Prague, but hey, he loves nature, n.ontario has nature!!
-
Lol. Mine was accurate too, with Origin, Otonal, Seimei and PW at the top....strange outlier though, Notte stellata was really low yet it is a favourite....

When i was at SC in Mississauga in um, 2016??, Rika was there and she was very entertaining. The crowd loved her but when she got hit with all the URs... the crowd was kind of surprised at the marks. I wish her the best.
-
I'd heard years before that she was half British, but I've known people who are half/half something yet they don't speak the other *half.* I've never seen her in interviews or press conferences, so I have no idea.
-
Ah, the varied tastes of fans... so many like it but I'm thankful that it's just for the CM!
-
That was my first thought too. I am no fan of McLeod Taught jumps.
-
Hongo to McLeod? Did NOT see that coming..... Kevin speaks Japanese so that should help...does she speak english?
-
Good luck to Gabby. I think we've seen she's tried to work through her issues while training, but it just hasn't worked. I'm glad she's taking the time she needs and hope she comes back only when she's truly ready and not a moment before. Hmm, Canadian ladies' skating is in serious trouble this year... I wonder if tptb are promising their first born children (or grandchildren, lol) to Kaetlyn to see if she'll get ready for World's...

I certainly want him to go, if all is well. Every opportunity to see him compete, no matter the state of the pancake batter or how it is fresh off the pan, is worth it and is to be cherished ( esp since these new programs need mileage and Nessie needs to have her debut). And it would certainly help get me through the long winter months between J Nats and World's....im not selfish...at all.....

A trip to 4CC might be possible this season if he's healthy. A trip to California is far different from a flight to Asia, where 4CC is so often held (not to mention only 3 hour time diff)... if he's feeling really good and 4A is actually on the agenda, who knows.
-
I"ve said this before... I love his look without his glasses...but i think I love his look WITH glasses even more... you cannot say that about everyone.
-
It would be called the 'coon cam...

LOL. THat one does... but they're cute. I had 3 staring at me through my ground floor window when I woke up early one morning... too cute!! TCC has to figure out how they're doing this... once they get in somewhere, they want to go in again and again and again... and they never give up... and Toronto ones are particularly smart and savvy...
-
That's very cute!! I wonder if they have the same costume designer. It would explain a lot. Did Satomi Ito do Yuzu's sp costume this year? The Otonal costume has those sparkly ice blade/slashes on the blue background ... and I noticed that Mai Mihara's new Mission dress also has some ice blade/slashes on hers, and it was done by Ito. If it's the same designer, well, when making costumes if you like how something looks, why not repeat it for someone else?
-
He is tough on himself. His jumps and skating look as if he has not missed a day... but he is correct about the spins. More spin classes....
-
Scary Zu is my favourite Zu....
-
I think it will make someone else happier than it makes us.... Javiiiiiiii

Was this by David Wilson? I remember he said he chose David as a choreographer, but I can't remember if it was sp, free, or both.
