sweetwater
57 minutes ago, sallycinnamon said: What happened to Mako and Yuhana? Those are quite low scores...Mako's levels aren't good she didn't have a combo, Yuhana made two mistakes on the jumps I have only managed to watch men's FS, so I haven't watched Mako's SP, but I think she had a stamina issue because she says that she ran out of breath. She also says the Lz was what she had been worried about the most. Fans on Twitter also said Mako was skating well until she fell on the 3Lz. She says now she is injury-free. She has some worrisome jumps in her FP as well but wants to land them regardless. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2021/09/25/kiji/20210925s00079000519000c.html Yuhana seems to have had some motivation issues. She said she had not been able to enjoy skating, worrying about her future, etc. She said she would try to enjoy skating in the FS even if she falls on all the jumps. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2021/09/25/kiji/20210925s00079000488000c.html Rin Nitaya says that she has decided that this is going to be her last season. She has already found a job and decided what to do after retirement. She burned the bridges behind her to focus on delivering memorable performances at nationals and retire when everyone would miss her. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2021/09/25/kiji/20210925s00079000587000c.html By the way, Rika Hongo was commentating on Chubu Regionals on FOD's stream, and it was fun to listen to. Like Kevin Reynolds did for ACI, she remained silent until the end of a performance, and then started commentating in a warm and supportive manner, sharing her point of view as the skater's ex-teammate or ex-rink mate. Fuji TV Two (one of Fuji's CS channels) will air the highlights of regionals in October. Chu-Shikoku Kyushu Regionals: October 9, 20:00-24:00 (JST) Chubu Regionals: October 10, 20:00-24:00 (JST) https://otn.fujitv.co.jp/b_hp/921200177.html
sallycinnamon
Thank you for the translations @sweetwater. It's sad to hear Yuhana doesn't enjoy skater anymore I'll also miss Rin if she finishes her career but it good to hear she has already found a job and she knows what she wants to do after her retirement. I wish them all the best.
Paskud
Yuhana has motivation issues for quite some time already. In 2020 she said she was disappointed with her senior debut, because she expected it will be as succesful as with other top Japan ladies in last few years (even Mako medaled at Lambardia and Skate Canada in 2018). As if she was a skater of the same caliber as Rika, Kaori, Wakaba, Mai or even Yuna, lol. All of them at least were JGPF finalists and multiple times medaled at JGP + Kaori and Wakaba JWC medalists. Looking at Gensan Cup, she regressed since 2019. Her FP is just a jumping fest with clap-clap choreo. And while we are at it, where the f is Yura Matsuda? She was still competing and landing her jumps well in July.

sweetwater
According to Nikkan Sports, Sota was originally planning to include both 4S and 4T in his FP, but he avoided 4T this time because he had hurt his left foot a bit and wanted to lessen the strain on it. The team decided to change the layout right before this competition, which made him slow and cautious. https://twitter.com/figure365/status/1441742350816989189 According to this article, Sota decided to take part in this event to perform his SP in a competition before going to Skate Canada, and he seems to be thinking that this competition gave him a chance to find his issues with the FP as well, but I hope he will take good care of his foot as well. I wonder what happened to Yura. Searched a bit in Japanese only to find others worrying the same.

Fay
Quite a nice score for AyuShin! They are second now. The program is still rough around the edges. Unfortunately, I don’t see them getting lots of outings this season.

Love the entry to the spin and ina bauer/knee slide exit from RoLi. And Shingo doesn't look anymore as if he was about to fall under his partner on lifts. Good job!👍
