sallycinnamon
Hector Alonso retired from competitive skating because of injuries. He won Spanish Nationals and finished 34th at Europeans last year. His last competition was the Denis Ten Memorial Challenge this season where he finished 9th. https://www.hieloespanol.es/1/hector_alonso_dice_adios_al_patinaje_3205246.html

If this recovery include enough training, she won't miss much with GP this year, and she may have a try for Europeans?

Paskud
Quote We are happy to announce that after approximately two months since her operation, Sara Hurtado put her skates back on this morning and skated a little bit. It should be noted that there is still an optimal recovery for the shoulder, but it is the first step towards its return. https://twitter.com/Hieloespanol/status/1311608931119136768

But as they hint, there are very few rinks in Spain and even in Madrid, where is the larger number, they are overbooked. And in France (I think the cost would not be quite different in Spain) building a basic but modern rink would cost something like 6M€ inclusive of tax (add maybe 1M for off-rink facilities), and the yearly expenses (there, it may differ a good deal in Spain, depending on the cost of utilities) turn around 200.000€. This, if they don't opt for an associated swimming pool, to use the heat from the rink — but not sure it would be that smart in Spain : even if in Madrid winters are really cold (but rather sunny), it may prove better to have a lot of solar panels to cover the expense, and maybe an environment-friendly cooling additive to be able to re-use the water. So, they would need much help to set up such a school.
