[TV Broadcast] HYOEN 2017 ーBasaraー

Featured Replies

Had a nice time watching with you guys... even though we all didn't do our homework and checked the background story

I was late for the streaming party, but for those still interested in the story: first of all, remember that the people with red make-up are the good ones (even if violent/angry) while the blue/grey ones are the bad (and cunning-if they have a red make-up, they're furious). Rest under spoiler, as I don't want to destroy somebody's show^^

Spoiler

Prologue: Children discover a book of Basara, and unleash its' power, leading to the appearance of the Basara Goddess (Arakawa Shizuka), who proceeds to create the Basara world. +/-

ACT 1: In this world, a Mikoto (Oda Nobunari) is entrusted by the Monk(?) and its wife (??? Anyway, it's Murakami Kanako) Amenouzume with the artefact (not sure what they mean but I SUSPECT it's the mirror based on the one of the Emperor's insignia- Amaterasu's mirror) meant to grant the great power (or something along the lines). Anyway, the Mikoto encounters two sisters responsible for making the flowers bloom, and falls for the Kotohana, the younger (Asada Mai) one, and runs away with her, leaving the older sister Iwagana (Ichikawa Junior, I think) to extract revenge. She summons Nikki Danjo (Ichikawa Somegoro), who then defeats the runaway lovebirds and take the artefact away, taking older sister as his wife. To counter him, a Monk, who supposedly is Benkei/descedant of Benkei, summons Minamoto no Yoshitsune (Takahashi Daisuke) and four gods/warriors of Heaven (shitenhouji- I think that's the translation for it), aka legendary Fantastic Four appearing in many legends and kabuki stories (Yoshitsune is considered historically real, though half of the stuff he was supposed to do is made up, Musashibo Benkei is considered at least half-legendary, both are popular theater protagonists), but they encounter Nikki's followers, the octopus and the other one (too tired to look into where they are from), Benkei sacrifices himself (again) to let Yoshitsune and the four go, asking him to stop Nikki's evil, before bidding him a farewell, followed by a grieving of his wife (Kanako is sooo good there...). FOLLOWED BY  Yoshitsune half-grieving  half not knowing what to do, at least until his wife(or favorite, his history is a bit unclear about that-anyway, love interest)  Shizuka Gozen (Suzuki Akiko) don't appear to console him. BUT, it's only a reminiscence we see because elder sister is looking into his mind through the mirror. She wants to use her captured little sister to torment Yoshitsune (ugh...I forgot to mention, Shizuka Gozen died in front of Yoshitsune, when he was ambushed by his older brother's forces, though I don't know if this happened in the story yet...), making even Danjo kind of '???What is this princess....(paraphrasing)'. Meanwhile Iwagana wants to change her sister (and, I think the one who turned her down, the Mikoto) into stone, making her neither live nor die, suffering through eternity, so she summons Hebikamihime (Shizuka Arakawa- this translates into Snake God Princess?). Cue epic Yoshitsune vs Hebikamihime with Drum TAO (drummer band from Japan, but I don't know a lot about them...) as the background music with the big snake as shown in trailers, finished with turning the captives into stone.

END OF ACT ONE.

ACT 2 Starts with the celebration on Nikki's side. The four main entertainers each portray one flaw/addiction(?) of a human (drunkery, smoking, prostitution, one more I cannot recognize), but there enters someone else(guess who...), who entrances the party with his dance, gaining Nikki's favor (just saying but Yoshitsune is almost always depicted as beautiful, not handsome...), and a bit too much of drunken Nikki's attention. The mask goes of, Yoshitsune gets caught, but Nikki decides to give Yoshitsune to his wife, while he continues to celebrate. Turns out, the older sister was obsessed with making Yoshitsune suffer, and taking his heart/soul with her, no matter how our hero struggle...until Shizuka Gozen does not appear to save her love, as Yoshitsune steals the mirror from the Iwagana and fights her back with it, turning the Mikado and Kotohana back into people, but leaving HIS love again...

Iwagana changes into demon, as it is usual with women driven by jealousy/anger in Japanese tales, but even with that, Shizuka, through power of sakura, protects heroes. Nikki's not amused.

Meanwhile, Amenouzume tries hard to revive Benkei, ends up successful with Goddess' help. Goddess also bestow upon them the means to defeat Nikki Danjo and his wife.

All that's left is the climax battle...

EPILOGUE ...but remember it's only a story...

Curtain call, and Nobu being his adorable self ensues.

Aaand now it's 2 A.M. here, and I'm not supposed to be awake, moreso write in English...but it was worth it!
