They’re fairly easy for me now, too, but I still clearly remember how not so long ago I still struggled with them We’re beginners
robin
Still trying to get a feeling for loops from two feet After looking at this on loop for a million times (pun intended) I came to the conclusion that I need that last push off my toe pick before I take off. That would give me more air-time I think. As it is my loops are still os tiny

Did something stupid again, I tried to go sit spin to pancake spin. Then a rinkmate told me that actually it's easier to go sit spin to mushroom spin, and after I stabilize that, I can try sit-->pancake. >_> oops. My flip wasn't that stable yet... sometimes it works at the beginning of a skating session and suddenly (usually when I try loops after that) it stops working again. Welllll I guess I'll relearn everything quicker once I'm back on the ice compared to learning it all from scratch these past months All I got to say abt spins anymore is (in the words of @axelnojutsu) they're evil. guitarist
So I had to skip last week cause I was sick, but this week was... Somewhat productive. Been working on 3-turns. I can only do forward outside, the rest are hit-or-miss... And my spins still aren't fast enough to be spins, but my feet position is getting better. And my coach tried to teach me lunges! (Though of course "try" was to keyword) All in all... I still don't really feel like a skater, and I'm by far the worst in the group of regulars, but well, considering how much I suck at sports, this is already more than I expected! Nice! 3 turns are so hard, I still don't know how to check them. Well, mostly the left outside one. I tried them for many hours last week but I still can't do it, and my coach has tried to correct several things including my shoulders and my hips after the turn but it still doesn't work ohwell

Sucking at other sports, doesn't mean you'll do poorly at figure skating. (*personal experience speaking here*) Also, why do people hate on spinning so much? Just don't give up on them. I recall when learning how to do them, it was a constant struggle to get the "feeling" of the "pull into center" right for 5-7 weeks, and then one day, like magic, it worked. Ugh spins are tough...when I spin, I don't think I have much of a feel for the balance. I'm either centered and balanced, or I'm not. I find it hard to balance myself if I'm not already centered. I asked my coach if he actively "keeps" his balance and he said he presses on the ball of his foot and that's where he spins. I realized I don't do anything like that and honestly I just hope I'm centered after the entry...so I'm trying to get a feel of how to "balance." It makes sense though, with so many different spin positions, you can't just always be doing it right without any ability to adjust yourself in the spin... Let's see if I can describe this correctly. If you rise up to your bottom toepick and gradually press down, so you are moving onto your rocker, there is a small portion on your blade, close to the ball of your feet (just under the bottom joint of your toes) where you can wiggle your blade freely, and easily, but there is no noise. That is the sweet spot for spinning. In my case, I try to locate it first, just by moving my blade around a bit to get a feel for where on the balls of my feet it is, and try to hit that place when I go into a spin, and then lock my spin leg knee. Have you tried this exercise?
