I never get dizzy when doing rotations for jumps though...

Masochism and figure skating go together- otherwise why would you consider the risk of dizziness, risk of kneecaps hurting, thighs hurting, ankles hurting all in a good day of practice?

and if you’re me then on a bad day of practice you risk scarring yourself but somehow I’m still not deterred:13877886:

I was showing off my mother all my scars and bruises and she said "You enjoy this don't you?" and I realized I actually do

That’s both concerning and relatable :embSwan:

I will say for me at least it’s not actually the pain, bruises or scars I “enjoy” but more like them being a symbol of me working hard to get better and not giving up if that makes sense

Yeah that’s it! It makes me a lil proud to be able to say “Look! I fell so many times and yet I kept going!“ I definitely don’t enjoy how when you practice the same thing over and over and fall the same way and on he same spot over and over, your bruises hurt exponentially more everytime you fall.

But there is definitely a self-destructive element about that...

After several so-so sessions, I had a great one today, I learned backward crossovers! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid: I find them much easier than forward, for some reason...

Also, I talked to this guy who's a pretty good skater (he's been skating for a year, but he can do a hydroblade and most single jumps). He says he's not gay, but if Yuzuru asked him to marry him, he'd say yes :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:Wouldn't we all...

All in all a good day at the rink :10636614:

Normally I wear knee pads so it won't hurt as much if I fail jumps. Then one day, I thought hmm, haven't fell in about a month, should be fine. Don't wear my pads, and boom, I fall and hit my knee on when I trip over someone's lutz entry toe-markings on a spiral. *sigh*

It's the doe eyes-the eyes that make you cave in and say "Anything and everything for you."

Murphy's law, innit :13877886:

What kinda of knee pads do you use? I'm thinking of getting some volleyball knee pads. And I think I need something for my wrist, too..

I use McDavid knee pads, the hex pad type. Don't use elbow pads or wrist ones.
