Masochism and figure skating go together- otherwise why would you consider the risk of dizziness, risk of kneecaps hurting, thighs hurting, ankles hurting all in a good day of practice? and if you’re me then on a bad day of practice you risk scarring yourself but somehow I’m still not deterred

I was showing off my mother all my scars and bruises and she said "You enjoy this don't you?" and I realized I actually do

It makes me a lil proud to be able to say “Look! I fell so many times and yet I kept going!“ I definitely don’t enjoy how when you practice the same thing over and over and fall the same way and on he same spot over and over, your bruises hurt exponentially more everytime you fall. But there is definitely a self-destructive element about that...
guitarist Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 After several so-so sessions, I had a great one today, I learned backward crossovers! I find them much easier than forward, for some reason... Also, I talked to this guy who's a pretty good skater (he's been skating for a year, but he can do a hydroblade and most single jumps). He says he's not gay, but if Yuzuru asked him to marry him, he'd say yes Wouldn't we all... All in all a good day at the rink

Xen Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Normally I wear knee pads so it won't hurt as much if I fail jumps. Then one day, I thought hmm, haven't fell in about a month, should be fine. Don't wear my pads, and boom, I fall and hit my knee on when I trip over someone's lutz entry toe-markings on a spiral. *sigh* 4 hours ago, guitarist said: Also, I talked to this guy who's a pretty good skater (he's been skating for a year, but he can do a hydroblade and most single jumps). Murphy's law, innit What kinda of knee pads do you use? I'm thinking of getting some volleyball knee pads. And I think I need something for my wrist, too..
yuzuangel Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 today i was pretty nauseous while spinning but it still didn't prevent me from doing spins for like 1 hr >_> even though i should be working on other things (warning: gross lol) i have a bad cold so at times i felt like throwing up lol

axelnojutsu Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I have the same knee pads, they've cushioned my falls nicely so far With the frequency I hurt my elbow I'm thinking about getting pads for them as well...
