Fan report highlights:

  • (Abt "Choo Choo Train") "...Hanyu came out --> roused the fans --> danced with full energy & was extremely smiley (at this time C/L was in center stage) --> moved towards center stage & moves were really brisk/energetic/animated..." (hatch722@twi)
  • "Hanyu-kun was watching Plushenko and Javi seriously from the stage wing. During Javi's performance, he rocked his body along to the music..." (mijyua@twi)
  • Hanyu's message to the audience at the end of the show:
"Although this is a personal matter, I am very glad about being able to skate in ice shows after a long time. Thanks to everyone. Thank you very much. Everyone's nervous on the first day, it's not yet a completely satisfactory performance just yet, but we can only experience today once in our lives, so I'll give my all to everything. There will be two more days in Makuhari, and FaOI will happen in two more locations. I want to bring performance that gives a good time/ entertains... (he struggles with conjugations for a bit, laughs)... everyone. Really, thank you very much! So... let's do 3,2,1! 3....2....1....Thank you very much!" (soraneko2233@twi, 2nd part)

Day 2 (According to fan report, today is what will be broadcast for Makuhari)

Opening Grp Number: EXILE "Choo Choo Train"

Program: Chopin Ballade 1 (2Lo // beautiful 3A and 4T3T)

Encore: Let's Go Crazy StSq

Finale: IB-3A

Finale Jump Battle: SE-1Lo, 4Lo (correction: fully-rotated, fell), waved his hands + did a little bit of side lunge on return

---------------------------------------

Fan report highlights:

  • "I was able to attend the closed practice session today thanks to my friend who won tickets ✨ Other attendees are also writing reports so I'll report a little bit on what I remember too 💦
① When I entered the hall, Hanyu-san was sitting in the arena seats right near the stage, talking to someone. Afterwards, he was jumping up and down, and moving as if to confirm the axis of his jumps, etc, around the skaters' entrance. (x)

② After that he changed into skating boots and went onto the ice. He greeted us as he passed by 😌 He had considerable trouble landing the 4Lo in practice. It seems to be hard to adjust the jump trajectory to this small rink. Run-through for Chopin was 2Lo // 3A 4T3T (x)

③ They played the music from the beginning to 4Lo, so he was able to try again (finally succeeded) In the run through for Let's Go Crazy too, he struggled with adjusting the trajectories 💦 Here too he also got to redo the run through. After that he pointed around 👈👆👉👇 in confirmation like a demon. (x)

④ By the way, Pooh did not participate today. Everyone shared a tissue box. He mentioned things like "Lighting is done like the actual performance." "It's too dazzling (for my eyes)" "I can't see" while drinking water. He was scrubbing his face hard and covering and wiping his abs with an FaOI towel... the towels will inevitably be sold out tomorrow as well, probably... (x)

⑤ He attempted the 4Lz about 5 times (?) at the end of practice. He failed three times, and struggled but managed to stick the landing the fourth time. The fifth time, however, he landed a beautiful, perfect 4Lz! There was a camera focused only on Hanyu-san at the north side, so the Yuzu-Cam surely caught that... I'm so thankful I got to see a perfect 4Lz..." (x)
    (skipping thanks to P&G, etc)

  • (About rehearsal as well)
"It just ended! I was happy just to be able to watch it, but I got a surprise from P&G! At the end of the practice, we were handed carnations from the performers and got to take a group photo together! (((; ゚ Д ゚))))))) ... I am sorry 💦 I was beside Hanyu-san by chance, and I received 🌷 from him. I got to shake hands with everyone ✨ 'I'm sorry I am so sweaty and I must smell of sweat~' 'The T-shirt is new so maybe the smell of the T-shirt?' Everyone around me went "It's okay! It's okay!" 😅 ... no one smelled bad or anything, actually 😅 When the photographer said 'Cheese!' during the group photo session, Hanyu piped up 'Tanaka-saaaan, say something funny–!' After that, he made the 👐 pose from LGC 😽

  • nego401 elaborates on the tour (wip):

  • Hanyu's message:
YH: "Eh, it's a personal matter, but I really wanted to see Plushenko-san's Sex Bomb (trans. probably he meant the actual performance because he watched the run through earlier). It's a pity I couldn't see it... how was it everyone?" Audience: "Oooooo \o/" YH: "That's good. I'll watch it on TV!" (cr. chimayu0909@twi, maki__meki@twi)

"When I heard Hanyu-san's closing words into the microphone, 'The past year––the whole year or rather those two months––was really hard' it caused a lump to rise in my throat. Welcome back!" (cr. tarock2525@twi)

YH: "I think there are people who will be returning home by train after this, and there will be those who are relaxed, but everyone's quite excited so please take care on your way home" (cr. annegreengd@twi)

"At the last greeting, 'So! At 321. It's fine if you don't want to say too.' Hanyu-san, that's not the case... I want to say it together but I'm wavering because I also want to hear Hanyu-san's natural voice (> _ <) What should I do? Today as well, I was only able to hear only up until the beginning 'ariga-' before [everyone's voices] blended in" (cr. PRainbowsky@twi)

Day 3

Introduction number: 4T + high kick + twizzle

Group Number: EXILE "Choo Choo Train"

Program: Chopin Ballade 1 (4Lo // 3A 4T3T)

Encore: Let's Go Crazy StSq

Finale jump battle: Knee slide (did not jump)

And now, after a minor drought, let the fun begin!

When do you guys think he'll be going to Japan to start rehearsing for it? What's the usual modus operandi on previous FaOI participation?

  • Author

Depends on what he's going to perform? Group numbers would take maximum a day to settle, if he's doing an artist collaboration number right off the bat, I'd give it 3 more days of rehearsals.... not based on anything specific, just speculations :) It's already Monday in Japan time, so who knows, maybe he's already in Japan ready to join rehearsals?

Considering the dates, I'd expect him there on Mon/Tue. He needs time for choreo for one, especially if he's doing something like Believe.

Thanks @gladi for starting the thread! It's been 84 years since we saw him last...:dbana:

I hope we'll get plenty of fan reports from Niigata since it's still looking like it will not be broadcasted

You have no idea how much this bugs me.

It's the one spot that Zhenya is doing and I really want to know if the organizers said yes to her wish and to actually see it, if so. It is really depressing knowing that we may never get to see some awesomeness thanks to this. Why is Fuji just so ... so ... guh.

What's the status on Faoi fancams? Is there a chance we might see Yuzuru's performance the 26th and 27th, even if there's no tv broadcast?

  • Author

@Murieleirum Japan has strict rules against fancams (ref NHK Trophy) so I don't think there'd be FaOI fancams. There WILL be TV broadcast on 28th though.

^^

Which goes for Niigata too, sob.

Honestly, with the way it all functions, the only solution is to hope that Japanese fans will phone in, either NST or Fuji and ask about the Niigata broadcast (small chance, I know). If enough people did this, they might bite.

Thank you!

Me so sad though. To know he's performing somewhere and I cannot see or even know how he's doin' :sadPooh:

Fuji made an enemy of every skating fan last season :dpooh:

Maybe they will show something at the news and we'll be able to see glimpse of his performance or to hear what program did he use ....

I have seen news clips from the previous Niigata show and if those are a good indication, you don't see much of anything.
We'll hear from fans what programs he skated though, so at least that's good.

Yes that is likely to happen. We looked back at some old videos, and there was a news snippet of bits and pieces of Niigata back in 2011. Unfortunately, not a whole performance. But especially if Zhenya and Zuzu do a collaboration together, it should be quite newsworthy and we might get more footage!
