[2023] World Figure Skating Championships

Overall, I'm quite happy with the judging. Remember everyone here saying skating would become just jumps? It didn't happen, at least not yet.

Shoma as always is a blend of good skating and quads, Junhwan was frickin' amazing (also a blend of good skating and quads), and Ilia who is the only one in that top group who is purely a jumper, settles for bronze. I had a huge fear that Ilia would get a PCS quad bonus, but the judges really held back. I'm surprised but not surprised. Each Olympic cycle they sort of do a reset and that seems to have happened... for the moment.

The skating in general was really good. Jason, Kevin, even Keegan held it together when he's so often fallen apart. I found it to be really enjoyable today. I am so happy for the entire final flight, and a few good skates before it. Very entertaining.

Lol. I find it funny (but not haha funny), that they forced Yuzu out, but then reward his type of skating once he was gone (meaning quality over quantity). He could have easily won this with how the judging was. Pretty sad.

4A really is a monster. It takes all the energy out of a skater. There's just no performance there.

Yah, but I want it to be this year, because you will never know what's going to happen next.

Oh well...

True but compared to last year when he had to withdraw because his boot was  broken beyond repair, this is perfect.

That's the thing. He could've gotten it. He just needs Shoma to be judged correctly on the tech side.

PS: Even Belinda called it out.

In fact, if Jason and Jun are any indication, it's going the other way

Who's watching ice dance?

I did watch, it's great it's my favorite discipline since Yuzu not there any longer. So many different great programs

I hope it stays this way.

Mastery of the blade is the goal, and that includes everything you can do on the blade.

100%, and Mark also mentioned several times that Jason's kind of skating is what the fans want.

It was a surprising good men's FS.

Judging was okay except Shoma as usual overscored, the GOE for the 4Flip is ridiculous. I know a lot will not agree but the PCS for a quite empty program???

I loved Jun, Kevin, Jason great 👍

No one impressed me
My eyes searched for the YUZU....
yes they jump but no emotion

2021 WC LMEY'i tekrar izledim

Really a little unfair, there was actually less jumping than usual,

Jun, Kevin and Jason put a lot of emotion into their skating but they didn't had a lot of 4ds.

Yes Yuzu is the only one to have 4 and performance!

Shoma is so overrated, lacking tech on his jumps in a empty quite boring program

It's true Shoma's program was a bit empty (but no different than his other programs),  but i guess that since transitions are no longer a separate category, and his skating skills are excellent... the edges, speed and flow... those all counted towards it. And he does present well, hitting the notes and skating to the music. At least he didn't get PCS like Jason and he didn't deserve to... and judges finally agreed .... (how on earth Nathan beat Jason on PCS, I'll never understand that one).

And yeah, the GOEs on that flip are crazy.

Oh my, I just saw fancam of the women's FS floating on Youtube. Is taking video allowed in comps in Japan now?
