Also, Yuzuru's been saying that he makes eye contact with Taisei throughout the performance, I would have liked to see that.

I agree here, it felt more about struggle and maybe search for something than overt sensuality* as some isolated clip could suggest at first

*(tho sensuality was still there, unavoidably maybe, because the very abandon Yuzuru has when skating is in itself kind of sensual)

 

Ngl, I thought I'd watch this prog with some measure of second hand embarrassment like BL and RF, so color me shocked when even the fall was absolutely not-cringe for me and instead on point and beautifully executed

So sorry Yuzu for underestimating you!

 

Also love how many new choreo/moves, even spins positions were put in this program, but all DW's EX have actually always done that, starting from NS and its iconic delayed single axel 

Yuzuru really never stops evolving!

Oh wow. This is totally different from what Yuzu's done before, and it's so good.

 

(Also WHAT is this about him just... putting on his shirt in front of a TV camera? I am shook. Remember at the beginning of FaOI when we were all in a tizzy because of a visible shoulder and some ab flashing? How far we've come!)

--What I want to achieve at FaOI
In the end, it's all about doing the whole show with all I could, but of course it's not that I can do the same thing every time, but I hope that every time you see it, you'll think "this is different" and "I like it here", and I hope to present a show that people find to their liking. This may sometimes turn out to be a self-satisfaction. For us skaters, although we skate because we want to, we also want to convey what we want to convey, what we want to show, what we "want to show people here". I wanted to convey what I wanted to show, what I "wanted to show everyone here", and to be able to communicate it well and play 150%. That's something like my own goal for this FaOI.

The choreographer for this show was David Wilson, the choreographer of the show I used for the Olympic performance skate, "Come Spring", and this time I had DW create the basic pattern for me, and then I did all kinds of "this would be better" and "that would be better" and so on with the choreography. "It's all sorts of things... how can I put it, adding knowledge, learning and refining the show.

Well, the clothes, too, maybe you'll see that there's a character who has a deep sense of loneliness, and I think all human beings are the same, including me, the struggle between loneliness and a very pure, pure white heart, and I really want to show that.
I'm really looking forward to it myself, it's really, well, it's a very short period of time, but it's really full steam ahead to get to this point, and it's nerve-wracking to be honest. For me too, as I said earlier, it's a very different show, and I've been very involved in the choreography myself, and it's really a show that's full of details, even a jump, there's a change of timing to match all the rhythms and stuff, and it's really, how can I say it, I hope you'll taste every detail and enjoy it. Because it's a show like dried squid, I hope you'll enjoy it all the time!

This is the first time he's talked about his own interpretation of Raison, right? Interesting, a struggle between loneliness and a pure heart. I wonder what the Japanese word for "loneliness" is in this case. He's also been very involved with the choreography, which doesn't really surprise me tbh in this case.

 

Edit: I wonder if he means that in order to keep yourself "pure", i.e. live by your values and follow your dreams, you have to kind of isolate yourself from others, since they may "taint" you? Or perhaps others may find it hard to understand someone who dedicates their whole life to their dreams/passion, and you may find it hard to identify with others, too.

 

Edit 2: I see one reading for the kanji 孤独 is isolation, so I guess my interpretation kind of makes sense.

The Japanese word is "孤独". This word in Chinese exactly means "loneliness".

Wow I am speechless. Raison's very different from Yuzu's previous programs but still it feels very distinctively "Yuzu's".

 

Sorry that I'm a bit incoherent now as it's 3am and I'm overwhelmed by Yuzu. I'm absolutely in love with Raison and can't wait to see it in other camera angles.
