"sport" :/

Which is so sad because I used to enjoy it so much. Now I just focus on Yuzu.

I feel like as much as certain kinds of "real" figure skating fans like to criticize fanyus for only caring about Yuzu, most of us care about other skaters. Maybe not to the extent we care about Yuzu, but we do. But the worse the judging gets, and now with this doping scandal that calls into question the past half decade + of ladies skating results (it's naive to think that if Kamila is being doped, others aren't too), it genuinely feels harder and harder to care about anyone else. Because either they're benefitting from the terrible system, in which case rooting for them puts a bad taste in your mouth, or they're so disadvantaged by it that caring about them just feels like setting yourself up for pain and bitterness. Like, how awful must it feel to be Rika Kihira, risking your body and ruining your chance at the Olympics to chase people who might be taking performance enhancing drugs? And that's on top of dealing with all the judging unfairness too.

I don't know if I'll watch the rest of the Olympics. I'll probably tune in for Sui/Han (you'd hope that being on home ice would at least give them a fair shake), but I'd find it actively hard to watch the ladies event if Kamila is allowed to skate, because it would be so incredibly unfair to anyone who was there on their own merits, and it would just taint the whole sport for it to be dominated by someone with an unresolved doping allegation above their head. And there are multiple skaters in that event that I like.

All of the judging nonsense also makes a farce out of the idea that this is a real sport. In a real sport, there is a direct relationship between your performance and your score that isn't mediated by your flag, your reputation, and whether the judges want to elevate you or put you down. Why should I care about competition results if the scores have very little to do with what is actually on ice? A louder and louder consensus has grown that the judging is crap, but it feels like the judges get less accountable by the day.

That's why I could only watch Yuzu and a few people who went before him today. Too much bad feeling to watch the rest, even though a lot of them worked hard and get their results fairly.

If it were not Yuzu who jumped it, this attempt might have been called q or fully rotated.

Looking at the GIF more speed going into the jump and more distance covered would have allowed Yuzu to land the 4A. But seeing as Yuzu said no comment on whether or not we will see 4A later, I feel relieved. I don't really want to see him injure himself over this jump again.

Thinking about what Yuzu will skate if he attends gala...

There is the thing about LMEY - I don't want to see him entertain us in the current situation. I suppose he planned doing LMEY. I love to watch it, also Blinding Lights or Masquerade and so on, but I prefer him doing a program to calm down and soothe these Olympics. I think it would be nice if he brought another costume or can organize it. But most probably the mood will be different in ten days, so me too may change my opinion - and of course I will love every program he chooses.

There is just an option that cross my mind, that's why I write it here. Yuzuru, can you please consider doing your cool down routine? We haven't seen it for a long time. I miss it! I miss its beauty and your totally relaxed movements across the rink.

Just let Yuzu submit any music he likes, wear his UA and do beautiful, calm, strong, light and perfect cool down between the oh-so-funny exhibition programs of other skaters. If there are fans in the audience, I'm sure we would see a starry night.

Pretty much...imagine the emotions we would get - just Yuzu, skating all his pent up emotions out on the ice

Requiem is my favorite gala program. Can not watch it without tears.

I try to sleep it off but can't especially after seeing the interview. If only the ice will be nicer to him in the sp the situation now might be different. Now he is injured stuck till the gala without a medal feeling frustrated .Thank god that his mum is with him.I dont know if they will conduct anymore interview after this.

I prefer to watch Ballade no 1. To show what a perfect skater they will lose.

If they want to see it, they can see it in each of Yuzu's programs and skates.

I hope he just leaves Beijing.  They don't deserve him in the Gala - and he's injured, so why should he risk further injury for an organization that has shown him so little respect.(Also - no Jun or Jason?).

And I truly believe that the whole certification of the 4A is because they are hoping he'll be satisfied with that and go away.  He is, of course, pleased that it was certified, but will not be satisfied with his performance.  It isn;'t enough - and maybe they will finally, sometime, give the 4A the kind of points it deserves.

It’s time to analyze everything and just rest. As it was said before, it’s better to lose with mistakes than with perfect programs. So there will be no feeling that this is the end.

Hopefully this funny little story from this morning will help cheer this thread up!

So I slept early last night and didn’t watch the skate live because my heart couldn’t handle it and planned on watching everything when I woke up in the morning. I remember very clearly my last dream before waking up — Yuzu landing the 4A and subsequently doing all singles after just to piss on the judges and ISU

They will, when the next Russian jumping bean can do it. Not The three sofias (let’s be real, they won’t make it to Milan) but an even younger skater. Or better-a US girl will get it ratified 💀💀 jk
