Just watched the translation/summary from hybe boy to the key points/statements from JKs live.....I think we all had the feeling like JK was having a bit of a hard time, but hearing it from him is different....

Spoiler

"Everyone sings so well these days.
My confidence is low. Thinking of you makes me want to make a comeback, but my low self-esteem makes it scary."

"Seeing other singers makes me want to perform, but also feel I need to improve. Feeling self-doubt and inferiority lately. Confidence is low and I've been withdrawn. I missed you even more because of it."

So she in Korea missed this!!! I agree that the numbers must be accumulative. Yes, Europe would find it the perfect time. But it didn't start until there would have been plenty of Korean fans already in bed (maybe?).

I am curious how it's okay for him to do a Live and actually appear. Why haven't we seen anyone else during active service? Not that he's a regular Live kind of guy, but Yoongi could calm ARMY concerned about his mental health with a five minute "hi there- I'm okay".
I'll watch it later after I take the dog out and even better, go for a hike. The first actual sunny day since I got to Jeju a week ago- though still pretty windy.
can't believe I missed it! That's what I get for being "do not disturb" after 10 pm.

Well, I didn't know he was saying that, but as luck would have it, I did post a comment saying his singing is one of the marvels of the world, because that's how I genuinely feel. Hope he saw it. And it's only normal that he'd feel off his fame when he's had a year of not practising the way he usually does

@barbara was reading translations - JK did say at the start of the live that he checked w. the powers that be, and he is allowed to do a live , while he's on leave.

My guess is that as long there's no sign of anything military (like his uniform) and he's not making money from it, and he avoids saying anything political, it's allowed.

So he couldn't go live from the barracks or the base, for example. Which also explains why the other members haven't done it... they probably have a lot to do during their leave when they're at home and doing a live might be one thing too many.

Which makes JK's effort even more precious. He really really loves us

Well, the other members get leave.  Maybe he's the first to ask.  I hope he spoke with Jin and Hobi and Yoongi.  They could be reassuring (though I somehow doubt they'd have been up for the Live, except maybe Yoongi, but would he watch?)   He's have to have seen Jin - they are so close and Jin knows how being away from ARMY and being isolated from what he loves can impact his mood....he'd be sensitive to that.  I wish we knew some of those things -)I can see he's proud of his new house - maybe he'd have invited any member in Seoul to come by and see it.

I think, before this, people just didn't know that idols could. According to DJ Jino, its a gray area. technically, the live streams do make money but the military isn't as strict about it as people thought it was. I know I read several times that idols are allowed to make money, but it would then go to the military. So maybe JK needed permission from the company or it's not enough money for the military to enforce it or maybe it's just too hard to figure out how much revenue this particular live stream makes. I suspect that the restriction is more about ensuring that military duties are taken seriously.

Yoongi is the least likely to do anything public. Civil service is considered a privilege and the social backlash would be really big, especially after the scandal. Our guys might be bad asses, but Yoongi has shown that he is Korean to his soul and he wouldn't dare intentionally do anything that he would perceive as hurting the other members.

As far as the low self esteem stuff, I think JK just feels rusty from not performing in a while. I don't think it's a true depression beyond just the normal missing his life stuff. Pretty sure RM is the most miserable these days

It really sounded like he was the first one to even ask if it's possible and the company checked for him if it was allowed. After getting the ok, he was so impatient that he went live right away. That's why there were no live subs, this needs a bit of preparation time.

He said he will meet up with hobi and jin.

JK said he practices singing every minute he can, tries to learn new vocal technics and even got into contact with a famous korean singer (i think it was a singer) and hopes they can meet up during his leave to get some tips/help. After watching his docu series, doubting himself and low-selfesreem ist a theme there, so I really hope he isn't dropping into direction of anxiety when coming back....

Park Hyo Shin - the guy V did "Winter Ahead" with. According to Jino, he's considered the greatest singer in South Korea by Koreans.

JK's always been a perfectionist. I remember he was upset for hours when he made a small mistake in a concert ~2018. Since then, he's learned to be more relaxed and can even laugh it off sometimes but I think the insecurity of not performing is ratcheting up his anxiety again. Being the "Center" and "Main vocalist" is a double edged sword - he gets a lot of praise but it's also a ton of pressure.
