rockstaryuzu
I just got reminded of something! Raise your hand if you know why is in the Yuzu-moji section of the Planet's emoji collection. And if you don't know, say that too, so someone who knows can have an excuse to tell the story Link to comment

The pancake is a sit spin where the free leg is ticked over the other, and the upper body bent over the leg. Some skaters like Yuzu also use the pancake in a sit spiral. And yuzu has some beautiful pancake , some exemple : This one with some beautiful move with his arms And here is the sit pancake spiral : Bonus a cute baby-yuzu pancake spiral and pancake spin I particularly like the one with the hand around his leg (inspiration from Johnny weir) : Johnny in his Otonal program And Yuzu in his Otonal program Link to comment

But that's not why the emoji is there. Does anyone still recognize the phrase 'first pancake' ? 🤔 Link to comment

Hi, I won't steal your thunder, only the other day I was chatting to a Fanyu friend on line and we were discussing something else and I used the expression 'first pancake' to illustrate something that I was trying to explain but rather inadequately. Once the term 'first pancake' was used, the gist of the conversation was clearer. I think ??? Edit: Just to add, as @Yuzuwinnie was saying, in UK pancakes are more like thin flat crepes and the picture is more of what a UK person would describe as a Scotch pancake, smaller in diameter and slightly plumper. Not sure which one the original quoter was referring to. Anyway it is a good story and I'm looking forward to your recounting of the tale Link to comment

Looks like a flower or a sun to me 😄 I’m eager to hear the story of the pancake, I don’t think I know where it comes from. Link to comment

DancingFeather
Yes I do, @rockstaryuzu , but I'm looking forward to your explanation. Great idea, thank you! @Yuzuwinnie "Crèpe Suzette with Yuzu" is hilarious! I didn't know that this position is also called pancake @Lou! I don't like the name (nor the emoji) though... Thank you for the pictures! Beautiful, beautiful... Are there other emojis we can link to ideas and stories as rockstaryuzu did? Link to comment

And if you don't know, say that too, so someone who knows can have an excuse to tell the story I won't spoil the suspense by telling the story, but I will observe that the image of the food in question may be accurate, since the person who made "pancake" part of the Yuzu lexicon is a Canadian (but not from Quebec). ETA: Glad to be reminded, too, of Yuzu's -- and Johnny's -- lovely pancake spins. Link to comment
