Nam skating to White Legend?  Eh... lol? :yuzuhuh:

So Nam is either going full fanboy mode next season or the ISU messed up the page updates again.

He was teasing a few days ago on instagram in a clip of himself skating and being like "guess the music!". I didn't have sound on but I imagine if it was White Legend he was expecting fanyus to pick up on it straight away. It's a good choice and idea. He had the best skate of his life after Yuzu at Skate Canada a couple of years ago because he just ate up that energy. Getting Yuzu's fans on side and excited by his use of the music might help create the kind of atmosphere that works for him to skate well. He is also pretty openly a Yuzu fan so perhaps it's also a matter of choosing something to inspire himself. Plus, can't go wrong with a version of a warhorse for an Olympic season.

I'm not sure if he's doing himself a favor with this choice. We have just seen a stellar performance from the man himself a few days ago and the comparison will be there.

White Legend is a program that is very precious to Yuzu, as it was the first program he skated after the Tohoku Earthquake, that encouraged him to return to the ice and continue after the desaster, and that he skated in many charity events. This is something that goes far beyond a casual short program.

It would be particularly awkward if Yuzu and Nam both skated their SPs to the same piece next season.

When I first saw @Henni147's post my eyes zoomed in on the red circled area and all I saw was White Legend as the SP - OMG!!! you can guess what I thought - and I wasn't at all unhappy! But....it wasn't Yuzuru's bio after all lol!  (memories of ISU spoiling Yuzuru's surprise before 4CC last year!)

Ah I cant wait for him to debut his SP as he said he would recently.  (Yuzuru it is September already.....) :pudding:

Forgive me for this being Off-topic please but this was an interesting yet sad read:

figure skating is seriously rotten to the core, a literally sinking ship and then they wonder why they cannot attract viewers. Meanwhile their top skater think that being straight is the key and the influential US FS analysist is more worried for the fan calls. :headslap:

Just thinking that Yuzu wants to change this corrupted system gives me headache. Boy, I appreciate your courage and passion but it seems impossible.:scratch2:

So this is vaguely Yuzu-related...

If anyone's bored and wondering what the weather's been like in Sendai recently, just generally what Yuzu's  city and the area around it is like, here are two Canadian ex-pats who know zip about Yuzu and Sendai getting into adventures there:

Nam 100% feeds off crowd energy, so if it works to get the crowd with him, I say go for it, but it's also pretty risky. If he can't perform up to snuff people will be dissing him for trying to follow in Yuzu's steps and failing.

I think Nam is very confident in his abilities though.

The comparison will definitely be there but I'm sure Nam has his own reasons for choosing White Legend, even if that reason turns out to be a tribute of sort to Yuzu. My concern is White Legend is very different from all the programs he has done so far so it's hard to imagine how it's going to be.

Anyway, just wait until the program is out, then we will see.

I think we can say for certain that Nam is challenging himself by trying White Legend.

While we're on that topic, we can definitely expect the Canadian men to be pulling out all the stops to secure their Olympic spot. They're all high quality skaters  who have the ability to score top 10 in the world, but there's only two spots, and a bunch of young and hungry lads chasing after them coming up from juniors, too. It is going to be a battle Royale for them.

I mean, Gogo is a senior now and with that many quads he can do, I don't know...

Is he even in contention? He dropped out of sight last year after moving to Raf  which in my opinion was a big mistake  on his part.

Nicholas Nadeau saw the writing on the wall, for him anyway, and switched to pairs. If he gets the right partner, he could still do really well, he's a very decent skater and only 20 or so.

He disappears from the surface of the Earth so there is no way to tell LOL, but he has Raf, he has the quads (but mostly he has Raf), so if he can pull out just some IMO he will be in.

Also, I saw photos of him floating on Twitter a while ago. Other than the fact that he is a giant now, he looks OK?

We will see, we will all see very soon LOL

Eh, I don't think White Legend is exactly a crowd pleasing program but I agree that it can be a risky move for Nam.

Blues for Klook and Beatles Medley were definitely crowd pleasers...esp in Kelowna..maybe too much :8788161:.  I distinctly felt wooed after watching.

Or perhaps "strongly flirted with" would be a better choice of words.

Spoiler

Oh who am I trying to kid...Nam made love to every single person in the audience that night and left us all shaken and stirred and in need of a cigarette. Figuratively speaking.
