Speaking as somebody who specialised in journalism and worked in the field for years, this is far more the kind of stupidly irresponsible stunt that an unscrupulous marketing team would pull, where the clicks and views are worth the infamy and hit to credibility. Showing her face like that and making a video centred around her without getting an actual waiver, with a translated copy if need be, then misrepresenting her? That is toilet journalism. Even when I was on the lifestyle beat and churned out fluff pieces till I thought my brain was turning into fluff, as a complete rookie, I would've had my ass handed to me if I'd pulled something like this! Unbiased media is a thing of the past, sure, but there should be some pretence at least of standards! Don't know about Russian comps but when you buy/apply for/whatever a ticket for Japanese comps it says that you may be featured on TV etc etc so you agree to that when you buy it. (I think that might be why so many in the audience wear face masks?) I didn't see the video but if they were rude to the girl, rather than just mistaking the reason for her reaction, I don't think that's very nice. As for the talk of a media conspiracy to take Yuzu down... well... I'll leave that to everyone else to have fun with, I guess. Link to comment

I've only become a FS fan recently and it's making me experience all kinds of things I've never known before. The excitement mixed with anxiety when watching a competition in real time, the mental state after waking up way too early/staying up way too late combined with the previous, the joy of seeing amazing performances and also the super nice community we have here at the Planet... It's all making me feel squishy on the inside Also, I should probably apologize to my family, I made my dad, mom, sister and grandparents listen to me babble on about figure skating, and they largely had no clue what the hell I was even saying. But it works like a charm to relieve my stress Also not sure how I did it, but I somehow managed to explain the Code of Points to my dad while waiting for the SP to start, well at least the main points...... Same here! My friends are probably sick of hearing about Yuzu. 6 hours ago, Murieleirum said: Every single skater: Silver winning skater!!! Yuzuru Hanyu: He lost gold bleh The double standards is annoying. Had Nathan and Yuzu switched positions during Helsinki, they will be bashing Yuzu for screwing up because he's inconsistent. But for Nathan, it's cos of his boot issues. If things don't go well for Yuzu, it must be because of Yuzu himself; if things don't go well for other skaters, there are always external factors to account for it. 4 hours ago, liv said: I hate that they said "ran away with" the gold.... yuzu won long program , chen held on to win... there was no running away with anything, lol!!! I don't like it too! They make it sound like Nathan didn't deserve to win, and had to do it sneakily! Which is bs! 2 hours ago, b138oo said: Yuzu really could have an easier win if he didn't choose to challenge the hardest layouts he could have skated. I mean his classic Chopin at ACI proved this point. But the thing is Yuzu has won everything. He already had the OGM, Worlds, and GPF hanging on his neck. If he keeps doing the same thing, he would end up like Yuna who lost her motivation to compete after the Olympics. That's why I think he keeps challenging himself to keep having the motivation. For any other skaters, they still have something to look for, so challenging the FS elements won't be that important. That's what makes Yuzu so amazing...had he stayed with his old layouts, he might dominate every single competition. But that's not Yuzu. He never stagnates; he'll always keep evolving. 2 hours ago, Serafine said: Now, they can push the 'inconsistent' narratives on Yuzu. It's easy for them to overlook how many gold and silvers he had won in relation to the number of competitions he'd enter since senior. I try not to read or watch these narratives because I can be about it. But, I believe for many years to come and even long after he r*****s, people will always mention his name, remember the legend that is Hanyu Yuzuru. People will look back at his achievements and his contributions to the sports, even his popularity. We can tell our own narratives to the future generations. Right now, I want to enjoy his skating and be part of his journey. They can laugh now, but we will have our turn. Yuzu will show them He will break another world records, it's just a matter of when It doesn't take an expert eye to see that Yuzu's skate is special. They can bash him as much as they want, but Yuzu's legacy will live on for years to come. 2 hours ago, kaerb said: Q from foreign media: If you were to become any animal, what would you be? A: A cat. There's usually a difference between being part of a crowd shot, and being the focus of a video. For the latter, you usually have to be proven 'newsworthy'. Is dressing up in a way she found appropriate to support her fave and being Chinese newsworthy? I dunno, is wearing your dad's shirt and being American newsworthy? If it's good for the goose, got to be good for the gander. It would depend on the terms and conditions, I suppose, but it's still toilet journalism, there's the poo CBC was looking for. ETA: None of this is in any way Nathan's fault, he seems to be a good kid, like Shoma is. All these 'wars' are manufactured for clickbait more than anything else. We should stop giving them those clicks and call them out when they get really inappropriate, like they were here. Though Nathan needs a costume. Just any costume. I'll take a bad costume now. Any. Just... costume, please! Link to comment
SSS
I am waiting for some tweet about comparison between new SEIMEI vs old SEIMEi Rewatched both..the 2015 version is fast and smooth but I could not compliment the costume anymore. Shame on myself... ACI really had worst lighting. Link to comment

They just want attention. Link to comment

Forcefield
Okay this may be blasphemy to say, and I may be in the minority, but so far I like old Seimei stsq and jump timings more than new Seimei. Basically aside from costume (which I love all 3 versions) I prefer old Seimei. Yuzu bombed ACI so I waited, but after COR and seeing the program twice plus some RT I'm currently sure. And maybe clean and even more nuanced, stronger performances further in the season might change my mind about that because I'm comparing new Seimei to the perfect NHK and GPF performances. I actually really want to love the new Seimei as much or perhaps even more because I don't want to continue comparing everytime I watch him perform and I want him to take his best version to Olys, so another reason to root for it. I feel somewhat the same way. I think the jump definitely fit the music much better in the old one (I like the curve into the first quad sal of the old one than the straight line into the lutz)...but other than that, I feel Yuzu has more to show. Similar to SC15 where the program was good but not amazing at that point, COR17 is the same Link to comment

I agree with you but I'm putting it down to early season and exhaustion/stamina issues (his mouth was open during the choreo sequence yestereday.) I think we all have those WR performances burned so strongly in our minds that we forget SEIMEI 1.0 early season wasn't up to scratch, either. I for one only watched his performance at WC that season (as good as live as I could - they don't sure it here until weeks after) and backtracked from there, not really bothering to go back and check ACI/SC until I was in way too deep. I loved what I saw of the step and choreo sequences at the media day this year so hopefully as he gets more comfortable with the layout and builds his stamina a bit more we'll see something closer to that.
