Sherry got more than 500 responses in 24 hr. She is now making a report to attach to the thread where she will tag publishers with experience translating Japanese books to English. I would love to have the books with Yuzu's quotes translated, as well as the one published by CCC Media House that compiles Yuzu's amateur years. Getting Aoi Hono translated and having a good response to it would be a HUGE first step.

That's amazing! I hope there will be several publishers interested in taking this opportunity. :pudding:

With English subtitles! Yuzu will not show amateur performances. :hachimaki:

I do think that he could become a decent actor with some practice. After all, he is excellent at showing his emotions when he is skating.

and he has cultivated such a beautiful voice for acting (which he definitely didn't have when he played Date Masamune!)

The "Top 100 Japanese Familiarity Ranking" featured in the popular TBS variety show "Wednesday's Downtown" aired on April 19 was well received and is still being talked about days after it went on air.

Photo] "Beautiful but powerful" Hanyu is still a topic of conversation! Yuzuru Hanyu's solo ice show, "Prologue," was a hit with the audience!

The survey was conducted following the 2017 and 2020 surveys, with the requirement that the person be a living person. The program picked 1,000 domestic celebrities from each genre, and then surveyed 2,000 people in their teens to 70s. The results were as serious as the program itself, and when the 100th answer was suddenly chosen to be Hikaru Ota of "Bakusho Mondai" fame, the studio was excited, "You're starting here? The studio was excited.

The top 20 are as follows

(1) Tamori
(2) Akashiya Sanma
(3) Akiko Wada
(4) Beat Takeshi
(5) Tsurube Shofukutei
(6) Ichiro
(7) Tetsuko Kuroyanagi
(8) Mrs. Devi
(9) Hitoshi Matsumoto
(10) Matsuko Deluxe
(11) Takuya Kimura
(12) Junichiro Koizumi
(13) Masanori Hamada
(14) George Tokoro
(15) Masahiro Nakai
(16) Tetsuro Degawa
(17) Yuzuru Hanyu
(18) Kato Tea
(19) Yu Darvish
(20) Kusanagi Tsuyoshi

The desk clerk of a sports newspaper explains.

I have the impression that this is a ranking without any discovery, which is typical of "Wednesday" (laughs). Variety personalities occupy the top spots because their national recognition is proportional to the amount of time they are on terrestrial TV. Considering this, it is interesting that the order of athletes, including former ones, is Ichiro, Yuzuru Hanyu, Yu Darvish, Mao Asada (26th), Naomi Osaka (31st), Shohei Otani (32nd), Sadaharu Oh (38th), Shigeo Nagashima (39th).... It makes me realize that even Otani is not quite up to par against all generations (laughs)."

How does the aforementioned desk analyze Hanyu's 17th place?

He said, "That's just one word, 'great' (laugh). (Laughs.) "Apart from Hanyu and Mao, there is no other winter sports athlete in Japan. If they are above Mr. Nagashima, Mr. Oh, and Mr. Otani, they are at the top of the sports world along with Ichiro. It is far beyond the level of the "figure skating" genre.

He then goes on to say, taking into account that Hanyu's ranking was 61st in the 2017 survey and 35th in the 2020 survey.

I thought it was an interesting phenomenon that you are 'reaching' the public more now as a professional skater than when you were the reigning gold medalist at the Winter Olympics," he said. I think this is evidence that his attitude of sharpening his body and mind to achieve even greater heights, such as fusing with art, is attracting more attention from the public.

Hanyu is expected to transcend genres and become a national, or even global, "person who cheers people up. The "17th place overall" may be a great honor for her fans.
