Oh thanks for that, I'm so glad! I wasnt sure as I though athletes might have to travel alone due to Covid.

I think she accompanied him as his manager as she had accreditation - you are right, most parents unable to come to the Olympics with their athlete offspring. I wonder if it had to do with the fact he had no coach, that he was allowed his manager aka mum instead....not sure.

Yes, absolutely. Someone with less character would've backed down, but Yuzu never did. He went out there despite all the odds against him and showed the world what true courage is. That's why he has won even more fans and admirers and everybody's attention is on him.

 

People don't remember medals and numbers. These are just statistics. But people do remember other people and things that touched them deeply and made a true impression on them. On top of all the medals Yuzu has won, all his world records, and all his other countable accomplishments, his greatest achievement is the hearts he touched, the lives the impacted, and the people he inspired.

 

Yuzu has made my life better. He has shown me that beauty and good still exist in this world when I was in despair. He gave me hope when I felt hopeless. He was the light in my life when I could only see darkness. I'm sure many of us feel this way about him. 

 

This is probably why we feel so deeply about him. He has given us so much and we want him to have the best things in the world. We want him to be rewarded for his relentless effort and all the heart and soul he pours into his skating. We want him to be healthy, happy, and have fun and enjoy being on the ice. We want to thank him and give back to him.

 

I believe everyone of us has experienced some kind of injustice. I know from personal experience what it feels like to invest a lot of time and effort into something without getting anything in return for it time after time. For me, it's crushing to see how someone like Yuzu - someone who is so good, so excellent, so kind, humble, loving and caring, someone who has such a gentle soul and a heart bursting with love, someone who pours his all into his skating - gets this in return.

 

As of now, it's still not possible to be positive and see any good in this situation. I'm crying again as I'm writing this. I've been crying a lot the last couple of days. But perhaps one day, Yuzu will look back and see that there was something good coming from his experiences at these Olympics. And maybe we will, too.

 

Until then, I find consolation in the fact that Yuzu gets so much love and support from so many people around the world and that he keeps leaving his mark. He is the Champion of Hearts, there is no doubt about it. And if he gives people the courage to move on after falling down, if he gives people hope in the middle of despair, if he inspires people to become a better versions of themselves, if he makes the lives of people better -  as he did and still does for me - then this is greater and more important than any medals or standings could ever be.

 

All I hope for is that Yuzu heals quickly, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I hope he will overcome all of this soon and move on with his life, doing what he loves and enjoys doing, no matter what this might be. And perhaps he can gain some strength and comfort from the outpouring of love and support for him.

Sorry I'm not reffering to specific posts but there were a lot of them.

 

I wanted to ask - why are you actually depressed after those Olympics? I mean imagine if he visits this forum and what he will see is bunch of posts saying "omg, Yuzu didn't win gold and popped his 4S, I'm so sad for him", he didn't even want that gold medal. Am I the only one that is actually happy for him? He went throguh this Olympics on his terms, did what he wanted to do, made a historic moment, ALMOST landed 4A (it's SO close that I'm not even going to talk about how close he is to achieving his dream) and everybody is talking about him and praising him anyway. 

I'm his fan only since January 2020 and have been supporting him ever since and will always be, whatever he decides to do. I'm so proud of him that he still stays true to himself, that he's still humble and has so much love for the sport despite all the struggles he's been through. The only thing I want for him is to be healthy and it's enough to land this 4A. 

 

And also for the people saying that he should do everything to win this 3rd gold (not only*** on this forum but I saw a lot of comments like this on the internet) - he alerady IS the G.O.A.T, he's the best. He doesn't need to prove anything anymore. It's like it's him in he's league and then there's the rest. There's nobody he could compete with, because nobody is on his level, end of story. Nathan Chen is a good jumper. His jumps are correct in terms of technique - he does a good entrance, spin in the air required amount of times and then lands it and don't fall and that's it. But do he's jumps look like he's floating in the air and is wegihtless like a feather? Nope. Sorry but whoever says that any skater can even get close to Yuzu is delusional.

As I'm fairly new I can't speak for the others but I don't think I've seen posts such as the ones you mention. All I see, and all I feel, is sadness at seeing him sad and disappointed with himself. If his interview after the FS had been him being cheerful and saying "oh well, I tried but no big deal" I would personally have been much less impacted.

I'm not judging him for being upset by the way, he can be whatever he wants to be. It's the pressure he put on himself that makes me sad.

Personally, I'm not sad because Yuzuru didn't podium or land a ratified 4A. I thought his FS was so inspiring even with the two falls, and I was amazed by how much progress he had made with the 4A. The popped salchow in the SP was incredibly unfortunate, and while his skate wasn't *bad* by any means, it wasn't as brilliant (IMO) as the one he delivered at the Nationals, probably due to the shock caused by that freaking hole in the ice.

 

Rather, I am sad because Yuzuru is sad - he is so demanding of himself, and I can only imagine how disappointed he must be now, since his personal goals were to 1. land a ratified 4A and b. win a 3rd OGM. He was in top condition before the ice hole accident, so that must have been crushing for him. Not to mention yet another ankle injury...I hope it's not too serious, but I suppose we'll find out (I hope) tomorrow

Can't speak for everyone but majority of us here is sad because he himself was so devastated, and also mad at the universe for ice holes, DARN injury etc.. I was ok right after the comp ended, because it looked like he was ok, and then it stopped looking like it and many hearts definitely broke then. That literally hurts to see him like that, that's only that.

It's something I wanted to mention also but I forgot. I feel like he's sad because he feels he did let his fans down. It may be the expectations and the pressure from the people that thought he's invincible and will get that gold medal anyways. From his interviews pre Olympics I got an impression that he's more like "I didn't even wanted to go there but well, if so, okay, I will try my 4A there". And now people like Yagudin saying he's crazy are not helping at all. So what I was trying to say is that I really hope he sees how brave and amazing he is and will put all of his energy into healing and perfecting his 4A rather than thinking he disappointed anybody because he didn't.

Same. I'm also not going to speak for everyone but from what I understand no one is sad or devastated because he didn't medal. It's not even his fault he didn't podium (like some want to make us believe) because it was a bunch of circumstances out of his power. We are sad because he is sad but if soon he comes out and say "guys I'm really fine with what happened", good the mood will change.

 

I hope he is sad because he thinks he let us down, but I also hope that he will see that's far from the truth. We are proud of him.
