If it was a pure coincidence then 

 

I assumed the teal ribbon that replaced the green was a deliberate choice after the medals were unveiled.

Actually, he most likely saw the colors of the stadium at the 2017 Four Continents.

I hadn't thought of that, though at ACI the ribbon on his costume was still green. The teal didn't show up until CoR.

It was a different set of colors back then Completely re-decorated for the Olympics!

It was blue then, no purple at all. But medals design was released before CoR iirc, so it explains color scheme change for ribbons .

But what we saw at CoR wasn't the final version, right?

He was going to reveal the final version at NHK but I bet you a million bugs he’s changed it even more since then.

First version had golden and silver rhinestones > ACi silver

Second version had golden and black rhinestones > CoR silver
