Oooh no! Guys I've got it! It's probably not privates who are betting so much, but maybe corporations that want to use it as publicity?? do charity to get notoriety?? Idk

This article is extremely well written and poetic, almost, towards Yuzuru's achievements. Sorry if I don't translate it all, but I will translate the last segment, which is a summary and the meaning of all the article itself: "When nature gives you all the technical abilities, and you are able not only to develop them, but to visualize them into a not-yet-known dimension (For example, the realization of quadruple loop during ACI, on the 30th september 2016 is evident proof of that), then you are destined not only to dominate, not only to become the greatest of all time (he probably already checked both items), but to be considered one of the best athletes of all time for the sport, as a whole; a classic example of how greatness pushed to the extreme can be born out of simplicity."

Well look at Vincent Zhou. He scored 79 PCS in his free program. I don't think that's what he deserved. With higher score in PCS (by 20%, yes, thank you very much for reminding me) the gap between TES and Program components could be better highlighted. But, of course, the major change still has to be in HOW the skaters are judged. By now, we all agree with that. Max has been saying it for different years. He should have been a guest of honor in ISU's reunion today LOL.

They should raise PCS by a certain percentage at least in the Men's field. It's true that PCS and TES have become unbalanced since GPF 2015, because of Yuzuru's stellar scores, and PCS scoring has been dealt with poorly since. Italian skating experts have calculated that with PCS value increased by 10% or something (I don't remember precisely), the top 6 in all fields remained the same. Only, the score gap between Yuzuru and Shoma was, if I remember correctly, 20 points and not 10 points.

Sorry to break the professional skater streak with my n00b skating experiences I swear when I'll get the money I'll start taking classes... Yesterday I went skating with my friends and I got helped by two serious people to start trying to do a spin (without being able to do three-turns or controlling my edges well, lol), which I didn't really succeed in (yet), but there was a funny moment. I was trying to do a basic RFI entry on two feet, but I didn't have enough initial push and lost my balance easily. So one of the two skaters who helped me guided my movements, "pulled" me which gave me the push I needed, and I entered the spin so nicely! It made me feel as if it's not like I can't do stuff because I am no good and skating is not for me, but because I have no one teaching me the right technique... (Three turns still feel impossible tho)

I still don't think that's Transitions though. I love Carolina's skating, but if sport is about evolution and doing always more, I don't see why quality arm movements should be regarded as something they're not. You already have 3 Components that judge them: CO, PE, IN.

Yuzu reminding ISU that you skate with your feet, not your flapping arms. Also: I can do crossovers. AND flap my arms. Do I get a pass for Olys too?

TCC does not allow people to go and watch practice, to respect the athletes who need peace and concentration! Regarding the 'open practice', I think it's only open for the press, not for 'normal people'. You could... try to get a job as a sports article writer/photographer and then try your luck with that, though!

It's terrible that these things have to be brought up to prove that these Anti's accusations are ridiculous. The earthquake was a trauma for Yuzuru as for thousands of people in Japan (and I remember being very panicked about it myself when it happened, researching to find out whether the Japanese people I knew were okay) and bringing it up will be painful for him, so yeah, he should really stay off the social media - I hope his family will take control of it and let him enjoy life away from electrical devices!
-
I'm sorry, I didn't want to sound harsh, I wanted to share some optimism actually! We're just finished with the Olympics and we have a lot of months of rehab ahead of "us" (Yuzuru is the one doing all the work, that's all), so why go ahead and think about him not going to the GPS? c: I mean, history tells us that the only reason he won't go to a comp is when his health doesn't allow him to. So I'm gonna hope nothing will stop him from competing, starting september or early october.
-
tbh I don't share the feeling. If he wants to stay competitive (and he does), after 6-7 months of rest and rehabilitation, won't he desire the most to come back and skate competitively?
-
So... I vote... Milano GPF 2021? Is it already taken? no? I'll personally write to Yuzu not to retire until he skates in ITALY AGAIN. AAAAAH he hasn't come back since JGPS in Merano...

What about France? Isn't France such a nice country? He could eat lots of tasty fromage with Pooh *hoping he comes as close to me as possible*

Gotta love Max: "This is the ninth medal for Japan at these Olympic Games, but it’s finally a gold medal and it was won by the best of all time, Yuzuru Hanyu! Nobody’s like him. Nobody can display such excellence when it comes to both technical elements and artistic quality! We’ve said this before: technical omnipotence meets artistic excellence. The result is Yuzuru Hanyu, crying - and how can you not cry with everything that has happened this season?" I bet he was crying too.

nope, check, check. Actually getting a social life is also in my top ten things to do list. (not that I don't like studying Kanji's locked in my house while wearing penguin pajamas, but... like... I feel like something is missing) Oh yeah I do have all the Olys commentaries to check still. I don't think I've heard them all. I could also translate something my Max and Angelo that hasn't been translated yet... (Their FS commentary, for example, although I have to say that one wasn't too excited up until Shoma's fall on the loop, because Angelo and Max were worried about all those points that Yuzuru had lost with that REP on the Toeloop...)

I'd say, health permitting it, he'd be doing ice shows all the time. The whole world would throw money at him. And he loves to perform. I guess we'd better find something that occupies our minds 24/7 that ISN'T him for the next... seven months...
-
I don't believe it's casual LOL. so cool.
-
I think this is pretty cool. Although, I think if it were Yuzuru, he wouldn't say he was the Olympic Demon - he was fighting the Olympic Demon as well, which was probably bigger for him than for anyone else. And he won over it, he beat it! Pretty gloriously too! Edit: sorry for the doublepost xD

But come ooon, I love movies.. I think it could be cute. It's a bit too soon of course, but can you imagine reliving all the murderface moments on the big screen. I've seen movies about real life people who I knew and they're not always so bad.
-
Sometimes I still can't quite believe it happened Such a movie story really WHEN will they make a movie out of him dammit Probably in 5 years or something

Aaaah I love the second half of the first you shared! I wonder, would he have the interest/courage to dive himself inside these very very new and different pieces of music? Chinese culture has some Islamic shades to it (I'm sure you know better than me), but Japanese culture? I guess it would be new and intriguing. So far, he's only taken pieces of music that are somewhat 'International'. Or at least I perceive them as such. I mean, Chopin's music is strongly influenced by Polish history and tradition, but it has become International for its popularity. Prince and PW are modern pieces which suit his charisma and character perfectly. I wonder how he would deal with such different, characteristic music. We would see a brand new Yuzuru, he would have to transform himself to fit certain scales and harmony. Mmmh... I have to confess I would be highly intrigued by his Interpretation - and also his choice of costume. I think it would be great for him to have a specific character to embody, a la Seimei. I guess, with strong cultural music, it's always best to embody someone specific - the only exception being Hope and Legacy, which is really Japanese in its musical characteristics, but the Interpretation is natural as the wind, the sea, the mountains. The third piece you shared is quite "naive" in certain passages (I love it very much), I wish I could see him skate to it but, mmh... I wonder if he can still do such 'light' pieces! Meaning, whether he goes down the classical path, or the modern path, I see him always 'deep' more than 'light', but maybe I'm too influenced by Chopin right now lol. I'd love to see something new from him. See him have fun while skating. In any case, I definitely want to see him do more experimental pieces of music - no warhorses, no musicals - something to show his newfound passion, his newfound identity as an 'olympic champion', which he's never really felt up till now. I think he can really start playing around and showoff as much as he wants.

Amazing face

I'm not crying there's a gold medal in my eye
-
Yes, but think about him. He doesn't have any regrets. He had to suffer a lot, but ice skating is the thing he wants to do the most in his life. If he'll keep skating until Beijing, it's because it makes him happy.

I think Shoma might beat Yuzuru in competition once or twice because score is score, performance is performance, and even the GOAT can have days off and can be surpassed in terms of score. Nathan has already won twice over Yuzuru, and this doesn't in any way whatsoever change the fact that Yuzuru is considered the best skater ever from most skating experts and athletes and coaches, and Nathan is considered a young talent who still has a lot of work ahead of him. So when and if Shoma will beat Yuzuru in competition, it won't change the fact that Yuzuru has changed the sports for good, making it reach heights and limits never even imagined before him, and Shoma is one of the skaters who followed Yuzuru in pursuit of something special and powerful that he saw inside him. Shoma is well aware of this, and this is why I will always appreciate him as a person.
