  1. *whispers* but what about the red costume curse? oh wait blue flames. a blue flame firebird....
  2. *fingers crossed for Toccata&Fugue* Lmao I'll be happy with anything as long as its not RJ3.0, anything from Moulin Rouge or Carmina Burana (or Micheal Buble)
  3. his 3A in the SP got +3 twice (NHK and 4CC I think) though. but yeah the judges have been a bit stingy
  4. Oh lord I was comparing your 2010-11 with mine and realised I somehow skipped 4CC for that season... -_- I hope I didn't miss anything on any other seasons... *will fix it later* Since we did a similar kind of thing if you want to merge anything from mine into yours, you can haha or correct anything on mine if you spot a mistake~
  5. If it's a pro DSLR (Like Canon 5D mark 3 or 4) it could still be used for filming. DSLRs are often used for TV for certain types of scenes (ex. BBCs Sherlock has quite a bit of their outdoor scenes shot on DSLR), like outdoor stuff with movement or music videos etc because they aren't as much of a pain to carry around. If they were filming him on and off walking around various places, a DSLR would be a good option because it's not as heavy or attention-grabbing as a typical studio television video camera but still shoots tv quality video. Plus there's the benefit of swapping out lenses as needed whenever you need to if they want a different kind of shot. sorry I get really chatty when it comes to cameras, I have a degree in photography, worked in camera sales for 3 years, and I worked in Manchester around the BBC and ITV buildings/currently live in Seoul so frequently see TV stuff being recorded haha.
  6. Maybe? I was wondering if he was just because his face isn't covered up haha
  7. He can't be wonderful at everything He's probably average as in not awful but not great either. eta: oh he really did go to the Seimei shine... Makes me realise how little we actually end up seeing him in just casual clothes haha Also maybe I'm too used to how Idols typically walk around but I'm surprised he like isn't covered up at all....
  8. lmao i think i'm doing something similar because i got bored and the maths is very soothing https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JKEpZyL6gJen3eaO4OtJbr53f7VyTpAF0IvZkjszfhw/edit?usp=sharing EDIT: this doc is now finished? ;et me know if you think i should make any corrections. feel free to use to make graphs or smth as i cannot graph and cannot be bothered
  9. tbh whether he used a different music cut of not I'd be fine with Seimei 2.0. Looking back at that program in comparison to H&L i think there is space in the program for evolution and with it being a familiar piece and character I think despite the pressure that comes with it, theres also a confidence that will come with it too, as well as a little 'fighting spirit' since he might want revenge for Worlds '16... I mean, the music cut for the step sequence and choreographic sequence never fails to give me goosebumps, and there's pleanty of ways he could change the music cut to give a different kind of feeling. But I would hope more than ever he stays for another year or two (or...more) in competition to try different types of music. Like it's a smart choice for Olympic season if he's sticking to Pyeongchang being his last olympics and really wants that second gold, but I'll still have this feeling there's some potential there we didn't get to see...
  10. ahaha yeah LGC is missing WTT, I was worried too cuz maths isn't usually my thing
  11. Oh since we are posting statistics, someone on twitter wanted to know some stats for Chopin and how it compared to LGC and I was bored so:- Chopin 2014-15 Chopin 2015-16 LGC 2016-17 Planned BV 44.36 47.75 49.75 Average BV 40.04 (-4.32) 42.45 (-5.3) 42.5 (-7.25) Highest BV 44.36 (x2) 48.05 (x2) 49.75 (x2) Lowest BV 32.21 21.5 32.05 Average GOE 4.6 (9.99%) 10.02 (19.09%) 7.18 (14.45%) Average PCS 44.6 47.16 46.28 Average Total 90.14 99.47 95.83 - for each season, the planned content was performed twice / the highest BV skated was performed twice. - 15-16 has the biggest outlier thanks to that time all his jumps except the 3A were invalidated, - LGC had the most errors that resulted in lower BV but still managed to receive fairly high GOE - H&L had an average GOE of 11.7% of the TES - Despite more consistent errors in LGC the PCS didn't really get penalised that much on average - however the difference between 15-16 and LGC would have been bigger if i didn't include that outlier It's worth noting I included scores from WTT and Japanese Nationals when applicable which could generate difference if other averages were worked out with only international competitions included.
  12. depends on if he can get the 4lz stable in time. 4lz gives extra BV, as could the 4s3t, but if his lisfranc has healed, he's altered his technique to avoid re-injury and is confident he can land to combo in the second half consistently it's the better option. His 4lo is pretty stable and has good potential to get decent GOE, he gets good GoE on his 4t3t...it's a safe option that pays off. the 4lz is a risk and he's maybe a bit wary of 4s3t at this stage
  13. yeah but lgc's combo wasn't in the 2nd half so the bv is raised because of the backload bonus LGC BV was 49.75. If his layout is gonna be 4lo // 4t3t 3a the bv is 51.01 ish so its still an upgrade
  14. I mean it's also worth nothing the 4lo//4t3t 3a layout is higher bv that LGC's 4lo 4s3t//3a layout so it's not like it's just an upgrade from the old chopin layout, it's an upgrade from last season too...
  15. >> 4-4 combos aren't allowed in the sp but...if we are looking at 4s combos... Various CoD layout possibilities:- 4lo, 4s+3t // 3a = 49.75 4lo // 4s+3t , 3A = 51.23 4lz, 4s+3t // 3a = 51.35 4lz // 4s+3t , 3A = 52.83 @xeyra the 4A layouts were a joke anyway lmao But...huh. I didn't know that. Guess it depends on how much he loves axels
  16. Yesterday I was very 'wtf' but today I'm distinctly less so. It does come down to strategy and mindset, this is a sport, and I do not think that taking this strategy undermines the artistic/creative/performance elements of the sport. I might be a touch concerned about whether or not he can pull it off/judges responses and how it could bite him in the ass but if going back to successful programs makes him feel confident and helps him get into the right mindset before performing, I'm fine with it. I'm concerned there might be pressure to perform and meet high expectations that come with these programs but if he is facing such pressure with a degree of confidence, focus, mental clarity and is somewhat comforted by the familiarity with the programs then it's fine. It's a good strategy to make the pressure of the Olympic season more bearable because, let's be real, the pressure to perform and meet high expectations would be there even if he had 2 new programs. If not having to learn new choreography and attune himself to new music means he can focus more on his technical elements to raise success rates for jumps and GOE across the board, I'm fine with it. If it means he can raise his BV and have any new jumps or combinations, or a more difficult layout without new content, fairly stable and performed to good quality then reusing programs is a good strategy. Also, I don't doubt that in terms of the choreography and the pcs side of things can be elevated and further refined. I don't think he's just going to skate the programs exactly as they were with no adjustments at all. LGC and H&L were both challenging programs that displayed more complexity, nuanced expression, care and refinement with arm movements, body position and steps than any previous program. He's going to bring that to the programs even if the adjustments to the programs are subtle and minimal. It's kind of easy to disregard the choice as a step backwards, but I'm more looking forward to see how he will continue to move forwards by developing two programs that are already considered his best. Because I don't think he will relapse or plateau - that's simply not in his nature.
  17. So I got bored and tried to think of plausible possible layouts using old Chopin layouts and just seeing what could be done with the jumps without changing where jump passes were placed in the program massively. This is mostly for fun, particularly the wilder ones haha I just did whatever I could think of. OP layouts used for ref: 3a // 4t, 3lz+3t = 42.23 bv 4s, 4t+3t // 3a = 48.05 bv Fairly Plausible options:- 4lo, 4t+3t // 3a = 49.55 4lo // 4t+3t , 3A = 51.01 Possible options:- 4lz, 4t+3t // 3a = 51.15 4lz, 3a // 4t3t = 51.76 4lz // 4t+3t , 3A = 52.61 Somewhat dangerous option:- 4lz, 4lo+3t // 3a = 52.85 fairly dangerous option:- 4lz // 4lo+3t, 3A = 54.48 not worth it option:- 4A, 4Lo // 3lz+3t =52.13 dear god no:- 4a, 4lo // 4t+3t = 56.66 (I went for a 4lo+3t combo cuz a 2t would barely be worth it but if he popped the 3t in combo it wouldn't be horrific)
  18. i swear to God if that is it.........
  19. Also, just throwing it out there but, i think other posters are the same, not feeling enthusiastic at this point about the recycling of programs does not come from fans thinking they know better than Yuzuru, it's simply wanting to see him get the scores and the medals he deserves (assuming he earns them which I strongly believe he will) If he does recycle both programs, I shall be interested and await seeing what was changed to elevate the programs and justify going back to them, as I do feel changes would need to be made to both programs, not just in jump content but in the choreography even if it's just tightening parts up so there's greater flow or detail or flair between elements, to make it worth revisiting them given the current competition landscape. I think Seimei could have potential to be built upon tbh, I'm not sure about Chopin, but I'm open to seeing what he does if that is the decision he has made. However, I am concerned that in revisiting programs he has skated to potential already he is opening himself up to judges penalising him for taking a 'safe option' or failing to meet disproportionately high expectations of what people think he should be able to produce on a regular basis. Whether that be low-balling GOE or with-holding 9.75s/10s in PCS.
  20. I think Boyang has said he will not be reusing La Strada. But, yeah, a lot of the top men are recycling, and Max's rumours have no basis unless he produces a source that isn't fans or his own speculation. I doubt Yuzuru will have a recycled LP. Recycling the SP may serve two purposes - a degree of comfort in the event he is adding a new jump/combo/both and extra time to focus on developing a strong LP.
  21. He's not a reliable source. I wouldn't think much of it until someone from Yuzu's actual team says something.
  22. My biggest reason for being not very enthusiastic about him bringing it back is how likely it is that the judges won't be keen on a program being recycled for a 3rd season and penalise him for it whenever possible or having high expectations and penalising him if he fails to meet those expectations (which they arguably did last season). the second biggest reason depends on why and when he decided to go back to Chopin but I hate there's a possibility he was so disappointed with LGC and his confidence was broken by failing to meet his own expectations with LGC he went back to a program he had success with that he feels is safe. I've also seen people speculating other possible reasons though so it depends on if he ever gives any reasoning behind the choice.
